Fast forward to February of 2024! I noticed that the HVAC unit did not seem to be working properly. I contacted Diane at AC & H of Tampa Bay and she set up an appointment to have one of their technicians inspect my HVAC unit. The next morning, Bobby thoroughly inspected my HVAC unit and upon completion he advised me he wanted to speak with the staff at the main office because of concerns he had regarding my condenser unit. Thirty minutes after he left my residence, Bobby called and advised me that the condenser unit needs to be replaced. The main office later called me to set up a date and time to have this work done. On the date and time promised, Jeff and Jose from the AC & H of Tampa Bay arrived with the new condenser unit and began the installation process. By the afternoon, my new condenser was up and running. Before Jeff left, he advised me he wanted to schedule a return visit when the outside temperature was warmer to insure the pressures in the unit were correct. He explained the work he did and reassured me that this defective unit was merely an adoration. I fully understand that on occasion any part in a mechanical device can fail. What I must point out was the professionalism displayed by this company from every single employee. They were kind, courtesies and were genuinely interested in getting my HVAC problem repaired. The labor was under an extended warranty I had with AC & H of Tampa Bay along with a warranty from the manufacturer of the condenser unit. All costs associated with the unit and its replacement labor costs were covered by that warranty! A warranty with Air Conditioning & Heating of Tampa Bay means exactly that, they stand by their word and you are covered! This is a family owned and run company and it shows. The are dedicated, professional and most of all HONEST! If you need your HVAC system repaired or a new one installed, these are the people to go to. Ability A/C came out to fix MULTIPLE problems that One Hour A/C had created in my A/C system! I…read morecannot tell you how horrible One Hour A/C was to me. Over a year One Hour A/C screwed up my system to a point that it had over 70% humidity, had flooded, sold me blue lights that made no difference, and cost me in excess of $4,000! When ABILITY A/C showed up I had them look over all the work and paperwork that One Hour A/C had sold me and performed. They could tell I had been 'taken for a ride'. My refrigerant output was way off, they showed me lots of readings of 'normal' and where mine were after all the work One Hour had done. I was weary and burnt out from being taken advantage of from One Hour. ABILITY A/C was a God send and John worked up a proposal to fix the many problems with my system, humidity, etc. They had to re-do much of the work One Hour had done. In the end, they got my system back to working properly and even showed me the new proper readings for output of airflow, refrigerant, humidity dropped to below 50% for first time in two years! John knows his stuff and fixed an almost unfixable mess that One Hour A/C had caused! NEVER and I mean NEVER use One Hour A/C. They lie to you, don't know what they're doing and even put my drain trap on BACKWARDS! That is the level of skill One Hour has! They lived up to their great reviews, from the initial contact phone call all the way to the conclusion of the installation of my new unit. Derek, the estimate technician who arrived at my home on April 23rd, was knowledgeable and addressed my questions and offered options. He was at my home for over two hours! He offered me several options, without pressuring me, simply explaining the benefits of each option. His willingness to explore my request to remove current water outflow pipe that had been on the garage floor for decades, presenting a safety risk, and route it another way outside was taken seriously and creatively. In all my years of owning homes and rentals, I have dealt with so many HVAC companies. Some…read moreexperiences were "okay" while other companies were so awful I can't believe they are still in business. It was a revolving door of terrible companies that we hired over the past 8 years to fix our ducts and replace our HVAC system. After shelling out tens of thousands of dollars and still having a house that didn't cool properly (and was costing us $600-700/month in electric bills), we hired Fontana Brothers based on the amazing reviews. They came in, did an assessment of our system, and determined that the ducts were significantly undersized and the a/c returns needed to be relocated from floor-level to ceiling (to keep the returns from sucking up dirt and cooler air). Marcelo the duct master sketched out the entire ventilation/duct plan and replaced all of the ducts in our house to the larger (correct) size. The new ducts have a special antibacterial coating. He also relocated all of our returns. The project took a week, but they were incredibly thorough. They did such a good job that we decided to have them replace both of our current a/c units (Daikins) to Bosch units because our old units were going to be out of warranty in about 2 years and we were worried that the Daikin units would not last due to the strain they had been under with the old undersized ducts. Was it cheap? No. Was it worth it? Heck yeah! We are already noticing year-over-year cost reduction of about $200/month. And the house smells clean, cools down quickly and we don't need to keep the thermostat down anymore to cool the house - I can set it at 76/77 degrees during a hot summer day and the house still feels comfortable. Throughout the process, all of the Fontana crew members were incredibly friendly, professional, and kept me informed. Given the heat and the tight space, I wasn't surprised when there was a minor incident with the ceiling drywall - but Dan immediately let me know he would make it right and had a drywall company come out and fix it. Compare this to the last HVAC company I used who first replaced the wrong a/c unit (the older one that was working fine) and just said, "Oops, well it will cost another $10k to replace the one we were supposed to replace in the first place, and the one we did replace was old and should be replaced anyway." Then they did a crap job, didn't connect the drain pipe properly so that I came home to a huge puddle of water all over my garage floor and damaged garage ceiling drywall (which they promised to fix and then gave me the runaround - they never fixed it). When Marcelo removed the old ducts, I asked him about some things that the old company supposedly did - turns out they lied about installing the damper that was supposed to fix some of the airflow issues - it was nowhere to be found! I will NEVER use a we-do-everything-plumbing-ac-electric company like the one that starts with Corner and ends with Stone because all they want to do is make money - they don't care about the customer. I will ALWAYS use Fontana Brothers because they stand by their work and they do a damn good job. Plus they sent me a tin of cookies to thank me for being a customer! If you are looking for an HVAC company that is honest, transparent, does quality work at a fair price and provides exceptional customer service, you will not be disappointed if you choose Fontana Brothers!
