    Dried out salad

Found hair and bugs in the food, the salad was dried out, called ahead and asked for a high chair then upon arrival they said high chairs were first come first serve AND OLNY HAS TWO, service was ok, food was never filled at all, LEFT THE BURNER/ HEATERS FOR FOOD OFF so cold and soggy and tap water. But the ambiance was nice although broken outlets and infrastructure.

Drinks were amazing!!! I had a Michelada with mango cart and a mango margarita. Both were so delicious!! Must check out the drinks! The food on the other hand... we had the calamari which was a 2/5 and we stopped there. We decided that food from here probably wasn't a good idea so we kept drinking and saved our food allowance for somewhere else. There is a full stage inside so I bet the nightlife is really fun! But coming in on a Saturday afternoon was dead. I'd like to add the bar tender lady was really nice and fun :)

Allow me to preface this with the ages of my group. There were four of us ranging from 55-63 and we arrived at Andale around 8:30pm on Friday, January 7 2022. The security guard at the door was charming and politely explained there was a $5 cover charge each because a band was going to be playing around 9:30pm. I asked what happens if they don't show (you know - covid, traffic, etc..) He said they would be there. Reluctantly, we paid cash to the security guard who placed in in his trusty zipped pouch. We entered a bar and saw a handful of patrons. I asked the bartender/server why the menu said NO COVER and the security guard was summoned to the table. He explained that it was an old menu. Of course, no one brought a new menu and no one offered to do anything to accommodate their error (no return of the cover, no discounts on any purchase). The 1st table we picked was in a cold zone so we moved to the opposite side of the bar and found a table with two broken bar stools. The tables were placed directly near a storage area so with Borat like sarcasm, it was real nice. The bar itself was sad and in my personal opinion in need of a good cleaning. Throughout our stay, the female bar keeper was super nice, attentive and she covered both the bar and the server duties. When we asked for a drink menu, she said they were full service and could make anything. So without knowing the prices, we ordered. The drinks were fine and the chorizo fries were great, but I personally want to at least have an idea of how much I'm spending before I decide what to order. Since we paid the cover charge to enter this establishment, we felt obligated to hear some music. The band arrived around 9:30pm and spent 45 excruciatingly long minutes setting up. Some servers dressed in all black showed up and I imagine they were they for the late crowd, because they didn't do anything (aside from retrieving a couple dishes) to provide any service to our table. Keep in mind there were only a few people seated at the bar and a couple tables on the floor with people. Without ever knowing who the band was, we listened to a couple of songs and left around 10:30pm. For what is worth, they band did sound good. On the way out, I looked at the security guard and gave him two thumbs down. He inquired as to why so we talked. He asked what he could do to make it up to me next time. I told him there wouldn't be a next time. Things should have been fixed when we were inside. He told me that I didn't need to talk to him like that. Cross my heart, I was polite and even told him he was a real charmer at the door. He explained there was a cover charge after 8:00pm so I said there should be a sign saying so. In my opinion, this place wasn't designed for inclusivity and appeared to be catering only to a younger crowded and not anyone in our age group.

Myself and friends go often to Andale on Saturday as the band Cuban4 ever plays. The waiters are ver attentive, drinks are good you have to try frozen Mango Margarita it is delish. Good is good, they have a simple The atmosphere is great, however it is so hot that you dance one song and everyone is sweating really bad. The AC I don't think is working properly. I do recommend this place on Saturday to have a good time but take a fan with you!

Tacos hiding under the chips because I felt bad.

I feel bad with my rating because the waitress was nice but man I do this to save someone from eating the food. We came for taco Tuesday. I got Carne Asada and chicken. Both seemed to be on day 3 of being reheated. Super crispy / hard - obviously reheated. The salsa was acidic, also tasting past its shelf life. The rice looked like rice o roni Pilaf with this pretty interesting seasoning. I couldn't eat it. I only took one bite and had to stop. I felt super bad and hid the tacos in the chips. Karaoke started when we left so maybe the atmosphere and drinks are great ?? Just eat before you go. We walked over to JJs for the win.

We were at the Gaylord for a staycation and decided to have dinner here our second night (went to…read morethe Old Hickory on night one, reviewed separately). Before we even sat down, I asked the hostess to ask the chef about the buns for the burgers. I cannot eat egg and REALLY wanted a burger with a bun. They weren't too busy so she went and asked. Their buns do contain egg but they said they could use sourdough bread for my burger. YAY! :) (yes, I can order a burger wrapped in lettuce but a burger needs a bun so that all of the flavors soak into the bun. It is all a part of the experience) We have been on the hunt for the perfect burger in San Diego (refer to above paragraph, that burger *must* include a bun sans-egg) and we *FINALLY FOUND IT*!!!! We both ordered the Wagyu Beef Burger - medium rare. Mine without onion rings or aioli and sub sourdough bread for their bun. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. First, I love that they asked how we wanted it cooked. Just like the bun, a properly cooked burger is definitely part of the experience. It was juicy and flavorful. It was SOOOO good that I didn't even put condiments on it. Their fries were crispy and tasty, also very good. I am sad to report that I couldn't finish my burger (or my fries). I don't know why we didn't decide to split a burger instead. I think that we were so excited that I could get a burger with a bun that we forgot that my appetite is that of a bird. They have oodles of TVs - just like a sports restaurant should. We were there for the World Cup and NASCAR Race the Base weekend, so got to watch both on giant screens. Our waitress was Felicia. She was very nice and patient with me when I gave her my 'special' burger order, when I apologized she even waved me off and told me that mine isn't the worst order she's ever had (it's comforting to hear even if it wasn't true). My only complaint is the noise level, it wasn't even busy and it was too loud. I cannot imagine how terrible it would be when they're busy. I hate to sound like an older person here, but why don't restaurants plan on noise level? It's not like it's a new concept. Sound dampeners got a long way into helping make the experience more enjoyable. I'm not 'just' there to watch sports, I want to have a conversation with the people at my table. Transportation/Parking Parking - They do offer valet parking and have a parking garage (I believe that both are for a fee, and any validation they do at dinner is not for the entire amount). I believe there was free on-street parking and there's a gravel lot in between the Gaylord & the marina that people were parking in. Trolley - About a 20 minute walk from the Blue Line trolley. It's a straight shot down H Street, and I believe it's sidewalked the entire way. Ferry - There is a ferry from the SD Convention Center to the marina beside the Gaylord. It's $15 one way. At the time, there is no sidewalk connecting the marina to the hotel. It is a short walk and not too busy with traffic. We'll definitely be back! I always feel like I need to apologize for not taking photos, my personal opinion on pictures of food is that they really need to be done by professionals. But, thank you for reading my review!

We had the Parmesan garlic wings (hot, crispy outside, juicy inside, and decent size) and the Angus burger (cooked medium well, nice char on the outside, moist and slightly pink inside...the burger is a bit messy with the toppings but overall it was a great combo of flavors). This type of bar food is usually hit or miss, but Growlers was a hit!

The cheesy patty on rye bread was still delicious, and there were more fries than I could eat. Not much of a crowd except for the comics themselves, maybe 10-12 with a very entertaining host in between. All were good but many were hilarious including a first-timer. Fun vibe for sure, I would happily go again. I deducted one star because as a new guest, I asked the bartender if they had any special house cocktails. She seemed to hear the word special and thought I meant cheap. I said not necessarily cheap, but do you have any interesting house cocktails here. She said no, so I ordered something boring. There is parking on-site and on the street. You can enter the parking lot either through Sea Coast Drive or Imperial Beach Boulevard. We arrived at 9:30am on a Saturday and found plenty of open parking. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a friendly staff member and seated ourselves in the patio area. A server came over right away, took our drink order, and brought us menus. She refilled our drinks before they were empty and brought us boxes once she saw we were done. She was attentive and anticipated our needs. She was always friendly whenever she stopped by our table. My Denver omelet came with home fries and toast, for a small fee I substituted the toast for pancakes. The cheese on my Denver omelet was burned. I prefer the cheese to be melted and stretchy, as it adds flavor and texture to the omelet. The burned cheese took away from the overall flavor of the omelet. The home fries are always delicious - slightly crispy, well-seasoned, with sautéed bell peppers topped with queso fresco. The pancake was dry and didn't have much flavor. I've been here many times before, and the pancakes are always delicious. The breakfast sandwich was okay. The tomato was a bit overwhelming and made the sandwich slightly soggy. The breakfast burger was tasty and made just as ordered. The mini chocolate chip pancakes were really good, definitely on the sweet side. The portions are big and you will definitely have leftovers. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Both areas have many TVs showing different sporting events, making it a great place to watch a Padres game. Chief's is one of those type of restaurants, but what I didn't know about Chief's is that it is a sister restaurant to JJ's Island Grindz and Chief's Da Tiki Bar. The food that was served came from JJ's Island Grindz and Chief's Da Crab Shack, and both served delish grub. Besides the tasty food, I really enjoyed the Hawaiian vibe inside, the tunes emanating from the House DJ made me want to dance, and I appreciated the hustle from the hard working staff. If you're looking for a restaurant for a party or a graduation celebration, check out Chief's Da Crab Shack. Chief's Da Crab Shack is located in South San Diego, specifically Bonita, and it can be reached utilizing the 805 freeway and driving east. The restaurant can be found within an outdoor strip mall that contains the following businesses: Chief's sister businesses, JJ's Island Grindz and Chief's Da Tiki Bar; Franco's Flapjack; Wells Fargo; Colima's Mexican Food; and Fresheria. There is plenty of parking in this shopping center. As you enter Chief's, you immediately notice the Hawaiian decor and fisherman imagery with dryed grass skirt material hanging over their seating booths, netting holding crustaceans and seashells, thick ropes, fish as light fixtures, and ocean birds. This is a spacious restaurant with indoor booth seating, tables and chairs, distressed wooden tables for group seating, and outdoor seating. There were televisions around the restaurant showing World Cup soccer. I appreciated the diligence of Chief's staff who hustled while handling my nephew's graduation party and regular customers visiting. Before making my first visit to Chief's Da Crab Shack, I thought we'd be grubbing on seafood that are boiled and placed in a plastic bag with your choice of seasoning. That is what Chief's primary business is, but since it's affiliated with JJ's Island Grindz, my nephew's graduation party had a buffet line that featured Hawaiian and Asian food, which came from both Chief's and JJ's. The following dishes from Chief's were waiting for our tummies: mini pork lumpia shanghai, buffalo lemon pepper wings, garlic noodles, and white rice. The following dishes from JJ's were calling our name: spam musubi, salt and pepper chicken wings, teriyaki chicken, kalbi beef ribs, and red rice. The spam musubi is spam wrapped with seasoned sushi rice and nori seaweed. The spam musubi was a tasty bite in a small package. The mini pork lumpias were packed with ingredients and flavorful. The salt and pepper chicken and the buffalo lemon pepper wings were crispy and wok fried with green onion, fresh minced garlic, crush red pepper, and lemon. I devoured those chicken wings, which ate well with the two types of rice. The garlic noodles were yummy and had an abundant amount of garlic flavor. The red rice complemented all of the protein I ate. The kalbi beef ribs were okay and I wished they were more tender. My nephew and in-laws made appetizing choices for the graduation party and I happily consumed two plates of the food. 4.5 stars because the kalbi beef ribs weren't as good as the other food items. When we were told that our nephew was celebrating his gradution at Chief's Da Crab Shack, I was looking forward to experiencing seafood seasoned in a plastic bag. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Chief's is affiliated with JJ's Island Grindz and was able to grub on delicious Hawaiian and Asian entrees from JJ's and Chief's. Next time, I'd like to visit both Chief's and JJ's and try entrees that they're known for.
