You check in right at the entrance and they ask you if you'd like a table, or sit at the bar. When walking in your jaw sort of drops when you see how large the TV screens are the NHL playoffs were on and it was so thrilling to watch on such a large screen! They do have a giant TV monitor for different sports. This place is good for family, friends or even couples. Customer service is awesome. Everybody is friendly! They keep on checking on us. The food? It's American menu. Love the food! I ordered the cheese hotdog minus the chili (i dont eat chili). Im satisfied with it, cuz they toasted the bun. Then a 8-10 minute walk through the convention center to get to the hotel. So if you have someone with trouble walking, handicapped or elderly, this place will be challenging. Now, we came in a weekend. The food was amazing! Service was top notch on a Thursday night around 10:30pm. A big contrast to the very slow service we had at hotel lobby bar. Just come to growlers. What a lovely day in sunny San Diego !!! We got to check out the beautiful Gaylord hotel. We didnt get to stay, or experience the water works. Checking out the Growler sports bar was perfect. Made reservations for my friend's birthday at 7pm on a Friday evening. It was crowded and there was line of walk-ins. We got in line at 6:53 and got to the front at 7. We were told to wait in an area with chairs against the wall. People who walked in got seated and we were still waiting 20 minutes later. Went on a Thursday night and the line was out the door. Overall, it took about 10 minutes to check in at the front desk and another 20 minutes for our table. Once we checked in, they had us wait against a wall to the right of the entrance. As 20 minutes passed by, a manager came up and called our name and took us to our seats. I loved the colored coordinated beer keg wall and long communal tables for larger groups or making new connections. I've made since friends this way and I love that they have this. The chicken tenders were probably the weakest part of the meal. They would definitely not be my go to food. The fries were pretty good. They could be fried at maybe a higher temperature to get a littler crispier on the outside. The Caesar salad was pretty solid. I appreciate the Parmesan being freshly grated. Located inside of the newly opened Gaylord Resort in Chula Vista. One of the three eating establishments within the resort, this is the sports one. We checked with the hostess and we got our table pretty quickly. Our server was a little slow to attend to us, but that because they have a lot of tables and not enough staff, so not her fault. Because of that, when she arrived we just ordered everything we wanted right away. We got our drinks within 5 minutes. The food did take a bit longer than we'd hope for, but when it did, it came out hot so that was good. The food quality was great! My chicken wings were good! They have them in 4-5 different various. The Angus burger was fire!!!! And my kids really liked their chicken tenders. They usually don't finish them at other places, but here they destroyed them. The TV's are HUGE!!! That was definitely cool to have. They do have a lm outdoor eating area, but it's the bay so expect wind. I think inside is better, especially if you came to watch the screens. I was fairly emptied, but it was a Wednesday about 6 PM. Nobody was trying to pay attention. It really cared whether or not we got a drink or not so he got that one drink and basically told Nate the manager and he said not to really care that we didn't care for a drink and so therefore I don't really care to go back or to even recommend a space to anybody. Our second time here. We were not guests but in the area and wanted to check it out. Very friendly workers. We ordered the wagu burger, southwest crispy chicken salad, and Brussel sprouts. All items were good (which we appreciated bc they are pricey) but next time I'd request 1/2 as much sauce on everything (and I'm a sauce girl!) the salad was way over "dressed" and the Brussel sprouts were grossly over soaked. I love Brussel sprouts but we ended up picking at them bc there was so much juice. Maybe we were supposed to mix the bean sprouts in that were in top. The burger and fries were good but my son ended up ditching the buns bc they were soggy from the sauce. This review is solely for the speakeasy within Growlers called Cask & Crown. I didn't see the bar listed as a separate business on Yelp but definitely worth reviewing. In the evening if you're dining at Growlers, look for an industrial fridge door near the entrance to enter the speakeasy. They are strict on dress code (no shorts and flip flops), so just be prepared for that. The bartenders are really great here. My number one espresso martini is from the NoMad High Limit Bar in Vegas, but the espresso martini here is a close second! read more

Visiting the Gaylord Pacific & convention center on opening weekend, Growlers Sports Bar & taproom was the only dining that was available at the time. It was just after lunchtime, we went over to see how bad the wait was... and there was a long line at the check-in counter. Since it was the only place to get something to eat, waiting for a table was over an hour wait inside the restaurant. Overhearing the host, he mentions the outside bar area was open seating, I grab the hubs and beeline to the outdoor bar. Large outdoor space, there were an over a dozen tables and we were able to snag one just as a table finished and left. There are a dozen regular tables and several lounge tables with large comfy chairs. Most were under the covered patio with propane space heaters. We were lucky to be able to get a table that was covered by a space heater since it was quite chilly out. It was busy with three servers running around. It took awhile for everything and having to ask twice for things. They only offer Pepsi products. No ginger ale or root beer. Hubs got a Pepsi and I got a lemonade. We ordered the following items: - Crispy chicken wings - it comes with 10 wings, we got half/half Parmesan garlic and Chipotle honey citrus glaze. Since we got two flavors, the sauce was on the side. There was only one wing (super small) with the rest being drummets... and very skinny. The chipotle sauce was not what I was expecting a typical chipotle crema. - Fried Shrimp basket - we were hopeful at first, but everything ended up being very bland. The sauce helped, but the shrimp and fries lacked flavor. We asked for salt and pepper for the fries, but the server admitted they had missed that and didn't have any. The shrimp didn't seem seasoned at all. It got even colder with a strong wind chill and after a few bites we were done and packaged everything up. The food total was $60, with tax and tip... $75! We finished just in time as it started to sprinkle. The space heaters didn't help much while we were seated and as soon as we stood it up, it was nice and warm. Inside the restaurant is large and spacious with a huge TV sports wall and a colorful art Keg wall with a long inside bar. Being the opening weekend they still have a lot of kinks to work out. Staff were friendly and still smiling and trying their best as they were being pulled in all directions.
