I absolutely love both Bonita locations. Always great food and service. I came in to the Chula Vista location around 7:30pm, so playing devils advocate, maybe they were just ready to close, so quality was just Meh. I ordered 3 tacos. A smoked tuna, a shrimp and a fish taco. The smoked tuna was pretty good. The toppings were lacking. That's acceptable with me because they were generous with the smoked tuna. The shrimp taco was just sad. The shrimp were over cooked. They had the consistency of rubber gaskets. And I only received a small amount of those tiny shrimp. The fish taco wasn't that much better. It was a thin strip of fish and the toppings were just mediocre. Maybe they just had an off day? I am a fan of their other locations, I gotta be honest. But this location was lacking. The restaurant it self was nice. It was clean and aesthetically pleasing. Overall, nice atmosphere and service. The food itself was sub par.

Super yummy fish tacos! Staff is nice. Good seating inside but not really for a big group.

I thought the Tj oyster bar was ok . Food was pretty good , the workers and vibe was chill . Some of the flavors of the food were a lil different. The michelada was ok . Overall good spot , lots of things to choose from , would definitely try some of the pulpo items next time

Been coming to TJ oyster bar for years. I used to go to the one off Bonita road, and recently started coming to this location 2 years ago. I probably go here every week!! Every time I dine in at this place the service is spectacular!! The food was out in less than 5 mins, and at this location, if it's busy it does not take more than 15 minutes. They do table service so food is brought to you, just make sure you clean up after yourself when finished to help them! I ordered the smoked tuna taco, grilled fish taco, and Seafood Taco and all were 10/10. I highly recommend the seafood taco if you've never had it! It has octopus, scallops and grilled fish. So much flavor if you want the true seafood taco!!! All the tacos taste best with the chipotle sauce they give and a good spritz of like juice. I also recommend the shrimp ceviche tostado or the 7 seas broth for cold days. Love going here and will be back again

    FULL ORDER AGUACHILE

I purchased a full order of aguachile to find the container barely a quarter full. When I called, they said they count 20 pieces of shrimp for a FULL order. Definitely nothing compared to Karina's. I would recommend they notify everyone of how small a FULL order is when you pay $23.

    Fish Taco up close ;)

In Sunbow Plaza, there's plenty of parking + shops around. I'vs been to TJ Oyster Bar for years and have recently been frequenting this location because of its easier accessibility. This location is also bigger than the one in Bonita, with plenty of tables and chairs inside and outside. Service is always great and when dining in - they offer limes, sauces, and they have free water cups. My go-to is ALWAYS their fish tacos!! It's so good, crispy, and the chipotle sauce is literally *chef's kiss*. They raised the prices so fish tacos are $3.50 each :,) but they still have their happy hour on weekdays only from 3-6pm where tacos are $2.50 each.

Two one tostada portion. Why is one missing half of what we paid for?

I have been going to TJ Oyster bar since they opened up the first spot off Dairy Mart Rd. I would say around 2001 We order food frequently. Today we ordered some food to go. When I opened up my bag at home I noticed that the portions of the soup and ceviche tostada were half of what they normally serve you. I called and asked to speak to the owner Ivan and the young lady said he was busy. I explained my concern and she explained that those were their portions. In the pic u can see one tostada a la diabla (full cup) and the second one is the tostada de ceviche. (Half cup) I know for a fact that they always serve a full cup being that I've ordered from there many times. What bothered me the most is that she kept making it seem as if I was being dishonest and she was proving my complain not valid. I didn't want them to give me a discount or my money back I just wanted them to do what's right and serve me the portion I paid for.

It is located inside the Growler Sports Bar, close to the lobby. The host at Growler showed us the entrance, and since we arrived right at opening time, we were able to choose any seating we liked. They have a great cocktail menu. I tried the Brunch Bootleg and the Pink Lady, and both were delicious. What I also loved is that they can create off menu cocktails based on your preferred flavor profile, making the experience feel even more personalized. They also have a few off list draft beer options for only $10. There are three parking options available: valet for $30, self parking at the hotel for $20, or free 3 hour self parking across the street.

There were 6 of us. The gal who was doing security gave us menus and said the bartender would be by and they do table service. She gave us menus but no water. We waited for more than 10 minutes and watched two bartenders behind the bar never come over, not even greet us, bring us water, say "hey I will be with you" ... nothing. And they weren't rushed or slammed, nobody was ordering, they just didn't come out to us or even look at us, bring us waters, nothing. And by the way, their menu is disgustingly overpriced. $25 cocktails (very basic) Average cost for a GLASS OF WINE.. $30-$55 per POUR. for a mid af $100 bottle of wine lol. 55 dollars per glass of wine and we could not get an acknowledgment whatsoever. We ended up getting up and leaving and as we were walking out the bartender ran over (super quick btw, so he does have legs) and said hey where are you guys going, and we said we're leaving and he said "I was gonna come over right now" It was so cringe like he was chasing a tip from us since we had a medium size party. Not worth the hype, not worth the reviews, the influencers who post about this place probably worked something out with the management or hotel because this place is a total miss. Not even a swing and a miss. I can't say enough bad things about it.

At long last I decided to order a platter for a family dinner. The platter presentation was nice with plenty of rolls (7 I believe). It's a good value for the quality and quantity. I arrived as a party of one and was told I could not be seated at a table, despite multiple tables visibly open. Not reserved, just unavailable to seat me specifically. The explanation given was that they were "saving tables for larger parties." I understand managing seating during busy hours, but in this case the dining room was not full, and there was clearly space available. I requested to sit outside. I was offered a seat at the bar instead. I explained that I have sensory sensitivities and cannot comfortably sit at the bar--especially in an environment with loud music and a DJ actively playing. That context didn't seem to be meaningfully considered. What stood out most was the prioritization of keeping tables empty over seating a willing, paying guest. I was ready to order and spend a full meal's worth, but the preference appeared to be theoretical larger parties that had not yet arrived over an actual customer in front of them. Overall, it felt like a missed opportunity in hospitality and guest care. I left feeling unwelcome as a solo diner, which is disappointing given how common and legitimate solo dining is. I won't be returning.

Then she recommended a cocktail that leverages a Mexican produced corn liquor in a Negroni but with gin subbed with mezcal. Both of these cocktails are bartenders choice and not on the menu, but the fact that they can execute such innovative cocktails so we'll speaks to the level of dedication bartenders at this bar have. Renee even gave pointers as to where I might be able to buy some of the bottles they use and for a few other bars of similar caliber to visit nearby.
