Triple crown. Great food, service and atmosphere. Can't say enough about the experience at this restaurant. We were staying in the nearby hotel and wandered over. What a find. I would have paid 30 bucks for the tea. Mint, sweetened, yumminess. Come, eat, send me a thank you.

Stepped into Andalusia for highly rated Moroccan fare, and I can see why. The server was very friendly and welcoming. I recommend trying their couscous dish, but be prepared to wait a while. The lamb dish requires an hour wait. The beef couscous was delicious! The zucchini, carrots, sautéed onions, dates and roasted almonds were a delectable meal.

Bottom Line: This place is for you if you love a new, non- American fare, culturally authentic, food experience--that may make you a regular. Not for you if you don't. You could easily, to your detriment, overlook this understated place. It has simple, calming ambience augmented by the cultural background music and decoration. Though very simple in the environmental approach, background music and imagery create a soothing, quiet, intimate "dining" setting versus a place where you just get something to eat. Our server/owner was very courteous and efficient. I was looking for a lighter lunch so opted for the Bysar Soup--beautifully presented but, more importantly, delivered on its promise--luscious, silky, delicious. It was simply complemented making it a satisfying meal. The "experience", and I would categorize it as that, was wholly satisfying and at a very reasonable price--a very nice change from being gouged for mediocrity, and the reason for the extra star from me. I would definitely return.

I'm a little confused why this place was totally dead when my husband and I dined for lunch on a Tuesday at prime lunch time. Upon walking in, we were the only ones there. We were there about 45 minutes and only one other person came in to dine. The atmosphere is beautiful. I enjoyed the screen that displayed a video of Morocco. The food took a little long to come out, but it was worth it. This was mine and my husband's first time eating Moroccan so I don't have much to judge on, but in my opinion, the meals here were very delicious. I got the chicken couscous. I was not expecting it to have a sweeter flavor due to it having raisins. So that was a delightful change of taste. The veggies were cooked all the way through. The chicken needed more flavor to pair better with the raisins. My husband got the Kefta Tagine and it reminded us of an Italian dish. It was good, but the flavors just didn't surprise us as much as my dish did. If you are looking for something on the safer side of flavors, get the Keft Tagine. We'll be back to venture outside the box and try some lamb or that lasagna.

The restaurant is very clean, spacious and inviting. The seats were really comfy which is something! The AC wasn't working well and despite the multiple fans running, it was still quite humid. We were tended to quickly with friendly servers. Not pictured is the appetizer of veggies in phyllo which I enjoyed but my husband did not. He felt it was too salty and we would've liked to have gotten 4 instead of 3 per serving - just something to keep in mind if you're sharing apps. The chicken tangine had the most flavorful broth I've tasted in a while but without it, the dish wouldn't have had much flavor. But it was beautifully served! The chicken couscous was not flavorful. My husband said the only thing about the dish he enjoyed were the caramelized onions and raisins. I am grateful to have a variety of cuisines to try in Memphis, and while we did not enjoy our meals enough to return, I would still recommend this place to others.

Hot summer night, we decided to try Andalusia after a very positive write up in the Daily Memphian. Immediately greeted by the young man who was the front of the house and gave our choice of where to sit. There was only one other party, so we went to the middle and took a two top. The seating was remarkably comfortable- the chairs had lots of cushion. Quickly given menus and some water- the service was top notch even when business picked up a bit. I kind of felt like I was eating just after sundown at a bazaar somewhere desert adjacent. The dark ceiling tiles and the breeze created by the ceiling fans was, actually, really pleasant. Menus perused, we went with two apps and two entrees. You'll notice no picks of the phyllo dough chicken things because I devoured them before taking pictures- they were fantastic in their savoriness with a curious/sneaky touch of sweet (cinnamon?). Anyway, best thing we had. Presented with a mild harissa sauce (and meaning spicy, harissa packs a punch to my experience). The kefta, with a wonderful presentation, was my pick. Top tip- if you get this WAIT FIVE MINUTES before you indulge. Yes, it's going to smell fantastic. Yes, the brand can be used to sop up the stuff the meatball are smothered in. Yes, they say patience is a virtue. NO, the 'reverse blow' technique does not work to make this piping hot dish instantly edible. If you do wait, you'll get layers of spicy, what all I don't know, but cardamom(?), definitely paprika, definitely cumin. Eggs compliment and offer an interesting depth to the dish. The chicken tangine was better. Moroccan couscous, sweet potatoes, carrots, red onions, cucumbers, chicken, all spices very well, with the onions playing a sweet note in the ensemble. A date here or there, it's a cascade of flavor. The bread was very good, nice crust, dense but airy. The spinach was a decent app, nice garlic notes and Kalamata olives. All in all, it's a solid option. Not life changing, not eye opening, but good variation on hard to find cuisine in Memphis. It's just shy of a 3.5 star rating, and maybe that will change. Will be back.

I visited Andalusia for dinner on a weekday. It was about half full at 6pm. It is well decorated and looks to be family owned. I ordered the lamb tagine. It was very authentic and came with a very good bread. It tasted home cooked and healthy. This is a very nice local restaurant.

Such a hidden gem. Located in an unassuming strip mall, Andalusia delivered some of the best food I've ever had Memphis. The Moroccan mint tea was sweet and warming, the chicken tagine was flavorful and hearty, everything was so fresh and high quality. We stopped by for lunch and it was pretty quiet. Our server was very friendly, she let us take our time and enjoy our tea after the meal.

Andalusia is a great place for date night, or a healthy lunch or dinner! We got the hot tea with fresh mint leaves, which was a nice treat to start the meal. My favorite part of the experience is when they bring the tagines, which are like clay pots, and uncover the food to reveal your meal. It felt like special treatment. Moroccan food feels healthy yet filling, with a variety of meats to choose from. I recommend getting one of the tagines!

This was our third time trying to eat here (I think the first two times they were experiencing AC issues). We got in! Finally... The food is delicious. It's like someone's Moroccan grandmom is back in the kitchen, making food just for you. No lie... That's what this food tastes like. I just love the breads and the savory pastries. I stopped in based on feedback from other people posting on yelp for a late lunch as an out-of-towner. Previous reviews talked about how the place was absolutely empty, and I am amazed with how delicious the food is and how clean the restaurant is that it wasn't busier. I was in there with one other individual. My only thought is that maybe it's the location, but it definitely is not the quality of the food. I had the lamb tagine and bread. The lamb was tender and cooked perfectly, and the fresh vegetables in the stew were absolutely delicious.

Great place to try on a whim last Tuesday evening. Went to check out Holiday Lights at the Memphis Botanic Gardens and searched for a great place to dine that evening in the area. I was happily surprised and impressed with the dishes we ordered. The owner recommended a yummy appetizer that was seasoned very well. My aunt and I ate two of the Briouat before I could snap a picture. The dish was wonderful. For our entrees, my aunt ordered Lamb Tagine and I had Couscous with Chicken. Both dishes were delicious and seasoned with different spices and flavors. My dish had raisins with caramelized onions, vegetables, couscous and chicken. We shared some bites of our dishes. My aunt ordered mint tea presented with a beautiful cup and serving set. There is ample parking at this location. Our server was Jamal. He had impeccable customer service skills and checked on us frequently. The inside of the restaurant is decorated to show the Moroccan culture. The decor is very pretty and warm. We will return again soon.

This was my first time having Moroccan food, and I will say I was hesitant at first, but it did NOT disappoint!! This is the restaurant you want on repeat. It's conveniently located near a theater, making it the perfect before--or after-movie dinner location. The ambiance is quiet, allowing for great conversation with friends and family. The wait staff was very attentive, and I would return for that impeccable service alone! We ordered the Moroccan Hot Tea with Mint to start, and WOW. It was sweet with honey and warm, and the presentation was elegant. As an appetizer, we had Briouat, a small triangular-shaped flaky pastry with your choice of filling (we opted for chicken). This is a must! I had the Moroccan Lasagna, which was a large portion and could have been shared by 2 (I took my leftovers to go, and it was even better the next day). It is delivered in a traditional cast iron skillet with homemade meat sauce (AHHH-mazing). Others opted for the beautifully presented Lamb Shank and raved about it (they had NO leftovers). I WHOLEheartedly recommend you try this establishment. I'll see you there!

My phone's camera roll is kinda littered with pictures of food from local places that I ended up being underwhelmed by and deciding not to rep online. But this mushroom bocadillo sandwich I got from Andalusia? This would have impressed me when I lived in NYC or Philly! Now one of my two vital Memphis vegetarian sandwiches (along with the veggie sub at Fino's) I might eat the leftover harissa I have with a spoon. Really excited to try some of the more sophisticated entrees now as well! read more

One of the best meals I've ever had. I travel to Memphis often and will be stopping here every time from now on! I got the Chicken Cous Cous and it was AMAZING. I want to try everything on the menu now! One thing I love about this place is that their ingredients are fresh from a local farm. All meat options are free from hormones and antibiotics! Wow. The restaurant is lovely, the service is wonderful and the food is delicious. Try the chicken pastilla, it is honestly one of the best things I have ever eaten. Me and my girlfriend tried the restaurant to try more varied types of cuisine. We got the beef tagine and the kefta tagine. The boxes were basically empty. Called the store and guy seemed like they know it's empty and just didn't do anything about it. $20 dollars for each is ridiculous. read more

I am obsessed with Andalusia one of those place that people will often look passed. I enjoy it so much that we went back for meal two the following week. I had the lamb tagine. The lamb was cooked well but it wasn't very flavorful. The portion looks like a kids meal. I was still hungry after eating, and this is coming from someone who usually takes 2-3 sittings to finish one plate of food elsewhere. read more

Mmm! What a delightful meal! We were out shopping and couldn't decide where to eat, so we pulled up Yelp! to find this place. When we saw the Moroccan Lasagna we knew what we wanted without ever looking at the menu. This lasagna was rich, flavorful, and nicely portioned. We left full but not stuffed. Great service. I only dealt with them over the phone but my husband said they were equally super friendly and "with it" when he picked up our take out. They are located in a type of strip mall-ish atmosphere surrounded by other restaurants. We are plant based so we chose accordingly with the eggplant dip (it was just ok for me-but I have a favorite eggplant dip I eat that is smoked so maybe I am just more used to that flavor-the bread that accompanies it was fantastic and reminded me of focaccia). And we got the spicy olives which were very good and had a subtle back heat-they had pits and were coated in what I assumed made them spicy so napkins are a must). Sadly the fries were limp and disappointing but they could have been a casualty of the drive to our hotel and poor ventilation. We really wanted to try the Moroccan vegetable lasagna but the very kind man taking my order told me they had been very busy and were out of it. So we got the Bocadillos with mushrooms and it was SO GOOD! Seriously, chef's kiss. Good enough that I would go back for that over and over. It was like a French baguette roll with some crunchy veggies (reminiscent of a bánh mí) and with some ?marinated ?sautéed mushrooms, some little sour French pickles, some olives and garlic sauce and harissa sauce. I could eat it every day. Highly recommend this Moroccan establishment in Memphis. read more

On a dinner date with husband and ordered lamb tagine and lamb couscous. Both dishes were absolutely exquisite.Lamb was grass fed and vegetables fresh and organic. Although we were stuffed, the owner convinced us to try the flan, made with farm fresh eggs. Delicious. Restaurant is nicely decorated with nice ambiance. Owners are wonderful. Very accommodating. Oh my goodness! I was not expecting this much fabulousness in an unassuming Memphis strip mall. SO good! We had the seafood briouat for appetizer, which was served with the most amazing homemade harissa sauce I've ever had (and I love harissa!)! Hubs and I shared two dishes - the Kefta tagine and the vegetable couscous. Both were delicious! Tasty and flavorful tomato sauce with the kefta meatballs, served with chewy pillowy homemade bread. The couscous was perfectly cooked, with carrots, sweet potatoes, zucchini and cabbage, topped with caramelized onions, raising and slivered almonds. Yum! Finished off our meal with some hot Moroccan tea and a trio of Moroccan sweets, all fabulous. I was sad I had to share with hubs. Did I mention how good the harissa sauce is? Needs to be bottled to take home. All the ingredients are fresh and local, supplied by the family's own farm. I wish I had taken a picture of the meal before we started eating, but here's proof how good it was! read more

I love it when you find a unique restaurant that is not the same ole burger or pizza place and feel it's my duty to give a shout out as I want this Moroccan local gem to succeed and add to the diversity of restaurant choices in Memphis. The calm atmosphere, the friendly owner, Jamal, the authentic flavorful food cooked with love. It's all about trying new experiences and flavors. I highly recommend you give them a try and support local. We tried the brioual (savory appetizer wrapped in phyllo dough), Moroccan lasagne, kefta tagine and rghayef dessert (flatbread drizzled with honey & butter). Everything was tasty and served fresh /hot. I liked the fact menu selection was small and simple so they can concentrate on providing what they do best. I am no expert on Moroccan cuisine, so take this as you wish. I was staying at the hotel across from the restaurant and decided to stop in for dinner. The place is simple, small, but nice. The waiter was very polite. The Moroccan mint tea was fantastic, and the food was simply amazing. I wish I could eat that every day. Well done to the restaurant! I recommend. read more

We were craving something different, and let me tell you that you will not be disappointed if you give Andalusia a try. It was an amazing dinning experience... from a very knowledgeable host that guided us through menu choices, to a very thoughtful and well designed atmosphere that makes you feel like you a stepping into a different world. The food was amazing and my first experience with Moroccan food. I tried the chicken couscous and it was like a delicious burst of flavor in your mouth. We can't wait to go back! Unbelievably delicious! We came for lunch on a Wednesday and the restaurant was very quiet. I had the mint tea which was so flavorful and sweetened perfectly. My husband who does not like tea even loved it. We shared the eggplant appetizer and the chicken pastilla. I am not familiar with Moroccan food and was blown away by how wonderful the pastilla was! It is the perfect combination of savory, herbaceous, and slight sweetness. Service was also great and the portions were just right. read more

Found this little gem across the parking lot from the hotel I was staying at. My former mother in law is Moroccan and I always loved her cooking and I saw some tasty selections on the menu. The owner was the server, cashier, food runner and hostess and he handled everyone seamlessly. Very nice man who still took the time to describe items on the menu. I ordered the briouat as an appetizer, which were amazing with the harissa sauce and took me back to my MIL's kitchen. The berber style chicken brochettes, which were perfectly cooked and delicious. I ordered a bocadillo sándwich to take on my flight. It didn't make it that far before I devoured it a few hours later. It too was delicious. Great place and I'll be back when I'm Memphis. read more

Extremely good. This was our first experience with them, having gotten our Moroccan fix exclusively at Casablanca for the past couple years. We got take out, and the light, flaky exteriors of all our dishes were still in great shape by the time we ate. (I would still plan to pick up takeout promptly if your meal has such an exterior so that element of the food isn't wasted.) I can't recall what my wife got, and I hope I'm spelling any of it right, but I had the chicken pastilla & we shared some briouat. Unctuous! read more
