They have numerous vegan options and honestly everything we had was really good, especially the Elote and the street tacos. I ordered the big quesabirra and asked them to surprise me with the "protein" whip they chose jackfruit for me. I was curious bc of my Asian culture and jackfruit being used as sweets. Big I couldn't even tell bc it was seasoned perfectly and well. I could've drank the consumé that it came with. The store is small and tucked away but don't let that fool you. It's jam packed with flavor. The service to receive the meal took about twenty minutes but it was well worth the wait. I'll be back to try more! read more

Visited Andaluz three times. The first visit the food was good. The second visit a health inspector was present -- after we ordered we were told they could no longer cook because equipment was not working. On our third visit the problems continued. My friend and I both ordered the queso birria plate on separate tabs. Both plates came out with almost no shredded cheese -- just a thin cheese sauce that wasn't spread across the dish, and more filling than cheese. The plates looked nothing like photos of the same dish in other reviews. I politely returned mine and asked to order something else. My husband suggested adding more cheese; the waitress said yes, but I decided I'd rather just order something different instead. My husband's chilaquiles, ordered at the same time, never arrived at the table. We never saw the plate. We were then told the chef/manager would not serve us any more food. There was no hostility or rudeness from anyone at our table. We still paid for the drinks we had ordered while waiting. The restaurant was not busy. After leaving reviews, the owner responded with multiple replies that kept shifting the story -- claiming we said the food wasn't worth the money, that we were rude about a soursop drink on a previous visit, and that this was our first time there while also referencing earlier visits. The responses showed a clear lack of accountability and kept changing details that did not match what happened at the table. The dining room has been uncomfortably hot on multiple visits. On the day the health inspector was there the AC was running. We drove 40 minutes with a baby for these visits. The food itself has been decent when received, but the inconsistent preparation, the refusal to continue serving the table, and the way the owner handled the feedback left a much stronger negative impression. read more

The food here is so good! I was genuinely so surprised. Usually I feel like vegan food can look good but then lacks in flavor, however, that is not the case with Andaluz. I had the quesabirria with jackfruit and I was blown away at how tasty it was. As a Mexican, it's hard for me to find a spot where the rice reminds me home. This rice is very flavorful with the right amount of salt, which is a huge win for me. The Mexican clay plates also make it a very charming experience. Service was excellent and swift. read more

Gosh I wish I had photos of my and my mother's meals because you genuinely would not be able to notice the difference between the vegan dishes and their traditional counterparts. I eat everything but my mother has been vegetarian for about a decade and we both loved this place! Andaluz does AMAZINGLY at recreating the texture of meat dishes. If you had given me my food without telling me it was vegan I wouldn't have questioned it at all. The service was attentive, the restaurant is small and peaceful and there were two very friendly stray cats out front that I got to say hello to before and after our meal. 10/10!!! read more

Y'all! This place is fabulous! If you like vegan TexMex or want to cut inflammatory animal products from your diet, you gotta try this place. I failed to snap pics of food, but the chips and salsa were fabulous! The salsa was not the typical red stuff. It was warm as were the chips. Just made and not greasy. We had the nachos! I liked them better than any TexMex. Excellent flavors and fresh. The service was stellar. Let's talk about location. To be honest, it looks scary because it's in a former tax service place that still has the sign up and it's in a sketchy strip center. My son assured me it would be great because he'd been there. Since he was treating me, I agreed to go. Once inside, all was great. There were other patrons and when we left the place was full. I'm telling you, it is the best vegan food ever. I've been to many restaurants and will definitely go back. I even commented that the food compared to chipotle makes chipotle seem processed (does that make sense?). I have the greatest admiration for self starters who are trying to make it in this town. Some are good and some are not. This was great and I am thrilled to know about it. My wife and I who are vegan are always on the lookout for great vegan places. We decided to go here after work and were floored! This was literally the best Mexican food we have ever had. I had the street tacos with carnitas and chorizo. The carnitas were unbelievably delicious! It was so perfectly seasoned and I could easily have had a dozen more if I was hungrier. They also provided a super tasty sauce that we drizzled over everything. My wife had the quesabirria, which was also amazing. After our first bite we both immediately looked at each other with wide eyes, knowing this was the best food we've ever tried in all of Houston. This restaurant deserves more visitors. my absolute favorite hidden gem in north houston! every time i try something new from here i enjoy it. I also tried the cauliflower wings with hot lemon pepper and they were so good! the service is a bit slow since it is just one person making the food but it is worth the wait every time, and they are so nice. the nachos were very loaded with housemade chips and the vegan queso was creamy. I had the Enchi-Flautas which was basically a crispy enchilada. It was perfection! I also had the appetizer Los Elotes that did not disappoint either. The service: I was helped by a lovely young woman that very well could have been the owner. When she answered my questions about the food, she spoke with passion. You could tell she believes in the food that they make. She made me feel at home & checked to make sure I was good multiple times throughout my visit. The ambiance: 5/5. Clean. Comforting. My family and I have been traveling and stopped into this wonderful place to try our first ever vegan-mexican restaurant. The service was impeccable and timing was perfect. Never once did we wait too long for any update. This is a nice cozy spot that doesn't need a plethora of space/seating. Nice and simple to provide a comfortable nook to eat and relax with the family. my girlfriend and I were on a road trip from Florida to California and we were on the last leg of our 2nd day on the road. Both of us being vegan, it's been very hard to get good vegan eats throughout the trip but everything changed when we stopped here. Upon entering the restaurant the vibes were immaculate, a warm cozy almost grandmas house type of feel. We were warmly greeted even though they were about to close. We ordered the Gordita Plate, the Sope Plate, an order of elotes and a watermelon agua fresca. I was so hungry I had to eat as soon as we got in the car. The first bite of my gorditas almost made me cry from how good it was. I'm from LA where really good vegan mexican food is pretty easy to come about, but this place blew every place in LA out of the water. We finished our meal at our hotel and I'm already sad that I won't have access to this spot anymore. I would probably make a trip to Houston just to have a meal from this establishment again. Andaluz has some wonderfully delicious vegan food! I arrived at the location, and the food truck was operating out of a temporary trailer without a sign. I learned that they are in between locations, moving into another brick & mortar in a couple of weeks. I ordered the burrito with chicharron, along with chips and queso, and my mom ordered the street tacos with chicharron. All of the food was wonderful! Fresh and seasoned well. Even my omnivorous mother approved of her tacos! The salsas were SO GOOD, especially the spicy green one that came with my burrito. The queso tasted like a whole foods plant based queso and was very tasty. I'd love to try more menu items next time I am in the area. We came here and we're really excited for the vegan proteins because they have a TON of options. I wish we had eaten there, but it was warm inside and I have 3 kids, so I don't think that would have gone well. It's located inside a grocery store and everybody that works there is really nice. Definitely feels like a hole-in-the-wall, which is never a bad thing to me. The guy who too our order was very patient, kind, and happy to explain things. That being said, we got our food to go and ate after driving for 50 minutes to get home so I'm sure we did not experience the full potential here. Elotes - Texas corn is a hard one for me. It's small, not very juicy, and dry. I'm from Utah and severely miss Utah corn. As they serve it on the cob, I found it lacking flavor. Definitely not on the restaurant on this one but I'd recommend using frozen corn over Texas corn. Street tacos - my husband got a five pack and my toddlers each got one with their asada. Toddlers are picky so their opinion on this one doesn't matter but one of them loved the onions. My husband really enjoyed them a lot too and wants to go back for more. Enchiladas - my son and I shared an order of red enchiladas and an order of green enchiladas. This is where I think it's really unfair to review the food after a long drive. It was very dry. The green wasn't super flavorful but alright. The red was amazing, even after being in the car for almost an hour. I'm really not a fan of proteins in my enchiladas (I usually like cheese only) but the chicken was good! Rice and beans - My toddlers usually really love rice and beans but these were just okay. One of them ate a ton of the rice though and really loved them. It was good but I'm not sure I would seek it out again. I love the idea but the execution needs more space and maybe a comfortable storefront. read more

We ordered flautas, quesadillas, and despite the soft opening limited menu, they made a potato and egg plate with delicious flour tortillas for my mom. The food was fantastic, portions generous, and the sopapillas to go were the perfect finish. Green salsa...SPICY. We used to go to Cascabel but the drive sometimes wasn't worth it. We are newly vegan/vegetarian starters, so we are still learning and this place satisfied our usual cravings of street tacos/authentic Mexican food. Green salsa was our favorite with such great flavor, but the red salsa came with the spicy kick so we pour both onto our food. Recommend? Yes. It's located inside of a supermarket. You would never suspect that this little place would have the absolute best vegan tacos and it's not any of that modern or "influenced" stuff. It has all the aspects of food truck tacos that I just love so much. I got the desebrada flautas, 3 tacos, and a side of the refried beans and Spanish rice. My choices of protein for the tacos were alpastor, fajita, and chicharron. The flautas had a little crunch to them and the hibiscus had a nice texture as well. Of the 3 tacos I liked the chicharron the least. The alpastor was my favorite and the fajita was good as well. I loved that they seasoned the food. Some places makes vegan tacos and forgets all the seasonings. The protein also has a nice char to it as well. read more

My favorites were the chicharron and fajita, though I enjoyed the al pastor and chorizo too. I dare say these are the best vegan tacos I've tried in Houston.
