Hacienda Don Jose was such a good find that I feel like I now need to tell everybody about it. The food was great, portions were generous, everything came out hot, and the whole place has that comfortable neighborhood Mexican restaurant feel where you immediately start wondering why you haven't been going there more often. And parents, here's a nice bonus: kids eat free three days a week. Three days. With what it costs to take a family out these days, that's a pretty big win. Great food, good service, cold drinks, happy kids, and a bill that doesn't make you immediately regret leaving the house. We'll definitely be back. read more

A local favorite. Their food is usually pretty good. Their chips and salsa are addicting. And their pricing is pretty reasonable. So far I've tried: Chicken ranchero enchilada 4.5/5 - the ranchero sauce is awesome, the chicken is sometimes on the dry side Tortilla soup with chicken 5/5 - it's an unusual take on tortilla soup but it works. Tons of mushrooms, lots of chicken, and they give you avocado, tortilla strips, lots of melting cheese, rice, pico de gallo, and a toasted buttered bread to dip. Chicken ranchero chalupa 5/5 - hard to eat but super yummy My biggest compliant is when ordering to go sometimes they give you the wrong thing. The last time I ordered a chili releno filled with cheese they gave me one with beef, which I don't eat. So check your order. I went in and had a mango margarita while I waited for my to go order. The drink was fabulous. The chips and salsa were perfect. I ordered the fajitas for two and it was $44. There was so much chicken and beef and fresh homemade tortillas. We were able to eat it for two days. The beef was tender, and the chicken was flavorful and delicious! This is the place to eat, especially on the weekends. They offer barbacoa and menudo for breakfast or you can order from the lunch menu. Regardless, all of their breakfast/lunch/dinner items are all delicious. The rice options are incredible, the chile con queso is rico, and you cannot go wrong with the limonada. The service is always welcoming and friendly. They remember your face, and more often than not - your order too! Overall, great place. The space is huge with a bar side and a dining room side. I came here for lunch this past Tuesday and I'm already itching to go back. Good location right off the Beltway with ample parking. Very welcoming entrance to a well decorated restaurant. The staff is friendly, courteous and accommodating. I was struggling with pronunciation and my waiter happily broke it down for me. Love that because I really tried lol. The lunch prices are very fair and reasonable for the experience and quality of food. Overall excellent first impression. I felt like I got a deal. Aside from my weird tasting sprite that was immediately replaced with some delicious sweet tea I have nothing but praises for them. Carne Guisada - 5 STARS (that's gotta be someone's Bisabuela recipe) the stew and tender meat was just wow. Enchiladas Flameadas- 5 STARS The peppers and extra cheesey creamy chipotle sauce was spectacular plus the beef fajita was flavorful and tender. The weekend breakfast is first class stuff. I have had three different ones so far and the last was the Diablo eggs, or maybe Juevos a la Diabla, something like that, it was hot as advertised, which is kind of a rare thing to find. Been here a bunch for dinner. Today was for breakfast. They serve it on weekends. I had the fajita steak and eggs. Came with refried beans, hash browns, pico, onions and zucchini and tortillas. Literally the best Mexican breakfast I've ever had . My wife had chilliquilas with steak . She loved it . Staff is so good here and attentive. We were visiting from out of town and needed a private dining area which would accommodate around 25-30 people. Jose, the manager was spectacular in making sure the room was set up and ready for our celebration. The food, service and drinks was rated a 10+!! Everything was presented well, and so professional. Went with my son and got fajitas for 1. First, the onions weren't cooked all the way, and the sizzling plate was lukewarm. Second, they only gave us 3 tortillas. That wasn't even enough to fit all the meat on. I asked for more, and they charged me for 3 more. The tortillas weren't cooked all the way through and were doughy in the middle. Pretty disgusting. The service wasn't great. I had to stop the waitress to ask for things. She rarely checked on us on her own and wasn't very friendly. I don't often complain about food, but I wont be going back. This newly opened restaurant is in the old space of the old Los Arcos restaurant. Inside there is a separate bar area from the main dining room. I was given their regular menu along with a M-F lunch menu which I ordered from. I chose the combination fajitas (beef and chicken) with charro beans and corn tortillas for $13. The chips and two salsas arrived immediately. I liked the red and green salsas along with the firm chips. We didn't have much time to enjoy them because the entree's arrived less than 5 minutes after ordering on a sizzling platter. Both beef and chicken were tasty and reasonably tender and came with some guac, pico de gallo, rice and sour cream. Not much but I made do. I think I was served 5 corn tortillas and they were thin and didn't hold up well without tearing. I enjoyed the fajitas and the charro beans were tasty too. The dinner portion of this meal is $7 more expensive but comes with more meat. The lunch portion was plenty large for me. Neither tortillas (flour and corn) are house made. Table service during the meal was good. This was a good meal especially at that price point. Hacienda Don Jose appears to be an improvement from the previous tenant. I will return here. read more

First impression when we walked in was like walking into and old house smell. We chose to sit as far as possible from the entrance do to the smell. We got the sampler plate from the appetizer menu unfortunately it was a a disappointment quesadilla chicken tasked like frozen chicken, chicken flauta was oily and no flavor at all, nachos were fully loaded with beans, had other appetizers alike that were way better then this place. Chips and salsa were by far the best there. Crunchy taco got all soggy by the time he wanted to eat it, enchilada and beef were not bad the flour tortillas were not homemade it had that plastic feel so that was a no for us. The food and the service is markedly better than what there was when the place was Los Arcos. We have been there quite a few times there and it has become our go-to Tex-Mex in the neighborhood. My only complaint is that the flour tortillas fall apart when you order the tacos al carbon. Other than that, everything I have tried there has been great. And the service is fantastic. read more

Have all day happy hour on Mon -Wed and I believe on Sat. Kids eat free on Wed. I had the poblano pepper. It was good. I loved the ranchero sauce. I had the fajitas beef. It was very tender. I which they would have Charente the meat a little more but still ok. The order size was perfect. My wife had beef quesadillas. They were good. Nothing special, little too much cheese. My daughter had enchiladas- beef. They are good. Tried the cilantro rice. Was not too keen on it and I also agree. Prices are reasonable but with Happy Hour special it helps bring the overall dinner in place. Facility has clean. Nothing special but a small acoustic guitar band which helped liven the place. Very disappointed I was excited to try this place. I can't believe they put broccoli in an enchilada like what kinda Mexican restaurant does this. NONE of the veggies on the menu for this dish were actually in the Crazy veggie enchiladas in fact it's carrots broccoli and cauliflower it looked like they threw the HEB veggie pasta mix bag in there. It should've had what was listed on the menu sautéed tomatoes zucchini squash corn. It was also topped with regular tomatillo sauce not creamy at all also there was not any poblano pepper strips. Eating this purely for the sake of not letting my money go to waste. If I would've know the enchiladas were gonna be thrown together like some left overs from the fridge I would've just ordered some regular tacos Al carbon and called it a day at-least that can't be messed up. If y'all ran out of the necessary ingredients for the dish just say that. 1 star bc atleast the charro beans were good. Money would be better spent at a tiny food truck. read more
