MO CITY MAC BOWL HITS!!! We are regulars here specifically for the Mo'City Bowl with Oyster Mushrooms ONLY. We've tried it Hotlanta style twice and this is our first time getting it Buffalo. It's executed well every time. I will say the prices are higher than expected for a food truck and for the portions. We've got the Magic City Chikn Sandwich with Oyster Mushrooms and the HAV Classic Chicken Sandwich, they only put 1 slim piece of the mushroom on it, both times. Mind you, that meal is damn near $22 with the upgrade. It is good but for the prices, they should offer the soy free options for free. The ambiance is cool. The truck is located in a cute little parking lot. The service is cool, we never really had any issues or instances where we had to encounter them. The last two times we ordered were via online. It's a cute food truck. I like the location of it. It's easy to find parking. The people are always friendly and helpful. I had the sweet potato donuts. I also have the Poboy with mushrooms. It was so good. I forgot to take a picture. Also had onion rings. The Poboy was tasty. The bread was toasted perfectly. The mushrooms were crunchy and they gave you a lot of mushrooms. A huge serving of onion rings that were crunchy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. 9,6/10 The sweet potato donuts, my gosh baked love not war did her thing. I actually thought they were going to be overly sweet, but they were the perfect amount of sweetness and sweet potato flavor 10 out of 10. I also had a drink, strawberry lemonade 4 out of 10. The burger looks good doesn't it? The fries look amazing right!? Ordered a entrée at the food truck. The food came out fast; within 15 minutes and it was hot. I get home wanting to devour it, took one bite and I hated it. I don't know if it was the sauce or the patty, but one of them had a barbecue Jays potato chip aftertaste; very distinctive and lingered with a spice. I only took 3 bites, $18 down the drain. Once I heard about Houstatlantavegan, I made my way to midtown/downtown (still learning my way around) to check it out. It's a food truck right in the middle of an empty lot. They don't take orders over the phone so we couldn't order ahead. But, you can place orders via Uber Eats or GrubHub. When we got to the truck, there was no line, which surprised me so we were able to place our order which took 15 minutes to prepare. The guys on the truck were super nice and suggested which items we should try. I went with the WAP-er, tacos and the chicken fries (I obviously ate this over the course of two three days). The burger was HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!! The tacos were the best, then the burger and the chicken fries came last. It was too soggy for me but everything was fuego. Now, I will say the food is NOT cheap haha. I was like sheesh $25 for some fake meat (I kid) but truthfully, produce is so expensive so I don't blame them for charging what they do. If you're in the area, please check them out. Well I'll be! I'm not vegan but I eat here alot. Their tacos have to be my favorite. They are well balanced have a nice toasty soft corn tortilla and are gluten free. The gluten free options is what brought me here because alot of vegan spots don't do gluten-free which is super important to me. The food from this food truck is so freaking good and a decent portion size as well! They Buffalo chicken waffle fries were devoured! I had a non vegan friend try them and honestly they were 2 seconds away from being my birthday dinner of choice! The box sauce absolutely delicious and I'm not even a sauce person. The season fries were crispy and had good flavor to them. That slaw on the sandwich, damn so good! This food truck was nothing short of FANTASTIC. The whole experience was great honestly; just what you want out of a food truck. When we saw the truck from the street, we were a little worried because the area where the truck was parked looked so dark; we thought it was closed. Thank goodness we decided not to leave and to go check it out. Once we parked, we were delighted to see they were very much open. The little park/area where they are situated could use a bit more lighting but, I liked the vibe. There is a huge, pretty cool mural of some old white man on a wall. I think it's supposed to be God but we all know God is not an old, white man! God's not even a HE. But, I digress . You can park right next to the truck (or on the street) and eat in your vehicle if you wish, but there's also ample picnic table seating right under the mural of that old guy. We ordered our food and waited. The guy at the window said it would be about 15mins. They called us back in UNDER 15mins (awesome) and not a moment too soon because I was STARVING. Food breakdown and price: We ordered two burgers- beware, the menu doesn't say this but the burgers already come with fries. We ordered a side of Buffalo fries because we couldn't tell if fries came with the burgers (should of asked) no biggie though because we also wanted to try the Buffalo fries ($15). They also have another fancy fry side that I can't wait to try. I ordered the Rodeo Burger ($17) and my companion ordered the WAP ($22). We also ordered a dessert (two choc. chip cookies) and a pink lemonade. The total came to $65. Before you gasp, let me tell you, these burgers are huge and they give you a big portion of fries. The side of fries was also very big. The food was hot like good, fresh food should be! The burgers were both EXCELLENT. I mean that soft brioche bun, I could fall asleep on it! The burgers tasted so amazing and "real". I dare anyone to blind taste test with a real burger and pick the vegan burger out. The toppings on my burger included crispy fried onions and vegan bacon. The "bacon" was a bit chewy, almost jerky-like-but I really liked the flavor. The waffle fries were so hot, crispy and flavorful that I could've just eaten them alone! Omg. The Buffalo fries came topped with vegan "chicken" and all the other things that make Buffalo, well Buffalo. I enjoyed them but I'm not a huge fan of Buffalo anything. It was very tasty though. The cookies were standard, nothing to write home about, but delicious. The lemonade was also good. I loved this food truck so much and I can't wait to return. Houstalantavegan is by far my favorite Vegan restaurant. I usually don't like a full on vegan menu, I like to mix it up with a little vegetarian, because the dairy products usually make the vegan dishes a little better in my opinion. But this place knows exactly what to do to make it all come together. I ordered the Magic City Chik'n Sandwich and it made my taste buds want to throw money. I can't get it out of my head. It taste so good I didn't believe it was actually vegan food. I had to ask a second time just to make sure. They were super cool, and the service was great. Also try that strawberry lemonade, it won't make it out of the parking lot it's so good. My favorite sauce there is the box sauce. It taste like canes sauce, but better. I dipped everything in it. If you're new to being vegan or vegetarian start here, they show you that anything is possible! My only sadness came from when I wanted it on a Wednesday after I just had it on Sunday and found out that they close on Tuesdays and Wednesday, that really hurt my heart! Man oh man! Vegan friends, Vegan-ish friends (like me!), and anyone considering becoming Vegan. HAV is definitely worthy of being on anyone's list of vegan spots to check out. I have been following this spot on Instagram for a while and figured I would check it out when I had a movement. I decided to check them out on a Sunday evening right before the closed (unintentionally!). First, their customer service is stellar! I messaged them through IG to ask if I would still be able to order items on the menu if I arrived minutes before closing time. They replied almost instantly saying, "Yes!" They added that my order would be fresh too since all sandwiches are made to order. Cool! 20 minutes to get there...I headed out! 5 minutes until close...3 minutes before I would arrive, they messaged to ask me for my order so they could begin prepping it. I sent my order...arriving 3 minutes before closing (as Waze said I would). I paid and waiting briefly in my car (it was raining). One of the employees brought the order to my car! My order...Hotlanta Chicken Sandwich, fries, and a side of the 'Thicc & Yella Mac. First the sandwich - I am finicky about the texture/taste of plant based chicken. But this was GOOD! Bun was amazing, flavor of the 'chicken' was amazing, heat or spice wasn't bad, and the texture of the chicken was spot on...for me! The sandwich was a winner! Also the fries were seasoned waffle fries fresh out of the grease! Doesn't get any better than that. I waited til the next day to eat the mac&cheese! It is AWESOME!!! I'm not sure what "burger" brand they use but it's bomb.
