I went for an oil change and tire rotation and after it was completed I drove off, within a few miles my tire light came on. I went back and they cleared the code and started for home again, after a few miles the tire light was back. When I took it back they said they'd do a deep dive, after an hour or so they explained the sensors weren't OEM and they have no way to program them with their computer?? They offered to install new sensors that were north of $300. I thought it was ridiculous that they didn't warn me as it's a 2006 sienna so most likely they would have already been replaced with generics. A few months later I need 2 new tires, I went to Walmart and told them to replace all 4 tpms sensors in addition to the new tires. They called me back and said they wouldn't replace the sensors because they checked the computer somehow and said they wouldn't be able to program new sensors. Thankfully they didn't install them and charge me for sensors that don't work. That saved me some money but I still have a tire light. This happened around a year ago, because I decided I want new premium tires I'm concerned I won't be able to have it fixed. I refuse to go back to Anderson toyota for anything as I had another incident with them that I won't go into right now that cost me $1000 and shouldn't have. Next my wife had an oil change on her newer 4Runner and they left the oil filler bolt loose and the bottom of her car was covered in oil, luckily we caught it before there was any engine damage. The amount of oil being lost was enough to ruin the engine if she had driven more than a hundred miles. That was the last straw, my wife and I quit going there and we now go to a neighborhood mechanic. EDIT: This reply from Anderson popped almost instantly. Their reply in just a few minutes tells me they have ai replying to any online complaints. What I'd like to know is why I was told new TPMS wouldn't work when I was buying all new, they were working well before I took my car in to Anderson. What did Anderson do that would cause that? Ok. The service manager reached out to me, on the oil change stickers being labeled for 5 months, instead of 6. Thank you. His explanation was that a lot of people come in late for Toyota care appointments, and they then forfeit it per the factory. This is 100% true, and is one of the problems with Toyota care. However, most people schedule based on the sticker. If you are out of Toyota care and follow the sticker, you will be paying for your oil change at the 5 month interval, instead of every 6 month, or yearly if you are on that schedule. Although I understand his logic, they are potentially ripping off paying customers. Since most people make appointments over the phone or online, it should be possible to flag them as overdue when scheduled, if that's the issue. You can also put an auto call to remind your customers to schedule Toyota care, say a month before. My dentist uses that, so I know it's doable. You could also post signage explaining to people the expiration policy of Toyota care. It could also be brought up during the new car sales process. After talking to the service manager, I was impressed with his integrity. I do not believe they intentionally set out to misinform anyone. But unfortunately, that's what's happening. read more

Today I was very disappointed with my dealership that I've been with several decades. My family has been with the Anderson dealership since it started with Mazda dealership on North Alpine. They've always had a fair price on good cars though not the best price around. And their service garage technicians were good mechanics. And the waiting area spotless clean and comfortable. So though slightly pricier we've enjoyed the relationship and willingness to pay slightly more for the great service. And they didn't give me headaches with offerings of needless services unlike some of the dealerships around the town. We'd just go in for the services stated on the manual and be done with it. But in 2023, I've had the a/c system on my aging 2011 highlander done for something over $2000(I don't remember the exact amount). But last year I've had to take it in twice due to leaks(the warranty covered it). But yesterday it was blowing warm air again. So took it in for service today and came out very disappointed. I was told that a/c system was leaking from the far rear end where it wasn't the part that was replaced and there's lots of rusting. My question is this: how is it possible to have the refrigerant leak from the area that is not part of the a/c system? And if the complete system was overhauled how could there be rust in the area? Today I was quoted $3500. Does this mean they've charged me 2/3 price for half the job 2 years ago? So now they're asking for the full price to do the complete job? What do you think? Wow.. I have always praised Toyota . Yes we all love their cars. But I look beyond the cars.. I look at the service, which I always got top notch service... Until Friday Dec. 9 I purchased another one vehicle from Anderson Toyota yesterday, of course I like the car.. Do I Love it No. why? I always enjoyed picking my own. Seeing 2 or 3 before I decide.. I felt that yesterday my salesman did the picking, and he did all I mean all of the talking.. I would ask question about the car, he would give me a short answer or changed the subject.. to my family, how many Kids. What does your husband do? How many grandkids. And the thing is He Could Care less.. He was so hyper, couldn't keep still, I had concerns about the milage. He told me Oh That's nothing and asked me a 3rd time about my kids. Just go someplace else! I'll start by saying we started off on a good note. I called inquiring about a vehicle, was told that there were none in stock on their lot but they could arrange for me to drive someone's "loaner" to get a feel for the car and see if I liked it. The whole experience was great and I committed to "ordering". I followed up a week later, bringing my husband with as well, and giving the dealership $1,000 to have my car ordered into production. Salesman, Ryan Svatos, then said he'd be in touch and that we wouldn't be in the dark during the process (which we were told could take 6-12 weeks). Fast forward to week 5, no contact. Then week 6 he calls my EMPLOYER (said he didn't have my phone number) and tells the random guy who answered the call that the car should be here "this weekend or next". I call him, he states that he will "call me Tuesday morning with an update" (we are halfway through week 7 now), calls Tuesday and his exact words were "Well, I'm not sure what to say, Toyota hasn't picked up your car yet" then proceeds to tell me he understands if I can't wait any longer or if I want to go another route. I ask him to clarify what going a different route means, and he says "another car or another brand". Excuse me??? At this point I'm so confused (and running out of time, not wanting to wait another 8 weeks when he clearly didn't order my car) so I start my own search. Within 30 mins I FOUND, and put a deposit down on THE SAME CAR with EXTRAS for the same price at another dealer! Why couldn't Anderson do this in 7.5 weeks, but I could in 30 mins?? Ooh it gets better....I then called my Credit Union to have my approval letter sent to the NEW dealership, only to be told that Anderson called and CLOSED my credit application with my credit union stating I was financing with them instead!! So that whole process had to be started over...... I'm still waiting on a refund for my $1,000. But I'm picking up my new car on Saturday from Oakbrook Toyota! read more

I came in for a warranty recall service and asked to look at something as well as putting a new bulb in. First time there with my 2014 Corolla. Depending on how Things went I was going to inquire about trading up to a SUV. Well. Not only did I walk around the lot and got 0 help, I was then handed a repair bill for a separate issue, AND my warranty issue wasn't taken care of. Several folks came in during my time there, and they were shown Cars, given coffee, and treated with respect. It felt incredibly demeaning . Not trying to be that guy but The only differences between me and the people that were actually getting help was ethnicity.. seriously. My husband is a perfectionist when it comes to cars and Eddie took the time to hear him out and communicated to the technicians the extra care my husband was requesting . Eddie was already ready for me when I arrived and greeted me immediately pleasantly and professionally . Every time I have tried to establish a more constructive relationship, nothing but predatory behavior results. The issue today -- I am selling my 2004 Sienna privately. Was trying to procure the dealer's slip that accurately describes all features of the vehicle out of the dealership and any recall information. Started an online chat, described what I needed. Was deliberately misunderstood; gave the VIN number. Request was specific and clear. They wanted an email address -- ok, reasonable. They wanted a tel no -- no, not reasonable. Then received sales info, nothing of what I had requested ..... another dismal performance by a Rockford Toyota dealership. I had specifically stated that this was NOT the information I was looking for. It's ok. I have two other Toyotas -- a Prius and a new Sequoia. I will continue to drive to Janesville with my business. Apparently it is still the only place locally to get good Toyota service. RESPONSE: I did receive a response. From a sales person. The person receiving the text chat message should be able to relay information reliably. Or to the correct person/department. Or ask questions. I specifically negated that I was looking to purchase a vehicle. I gave her a VIN number and asked about the manufacturer data sheet. UPDATE: Received multiple emails from Anderson Toyota --including one with the information I had originally requested. Wonderful! Really helpful, responsive, quick turnaround -- within 24 hrs. My wife and I bought two brand new vehicles from this dealership since 2014. We've used them exclusively for our vehicles maintenance... and we have had good experiences. Yesterday, I took my vehicle in for preventative maintenance. I wanted the spark plugs changed, transmission serviced, etc. In short, I spent 700 dollars. I payed the bill, got in the truck and started to drive off... that's where things take a turn for the worse. The very first stop light I came to, the truck violent shook and the steering wheel turned back and forth on its own. I figured, that perhaps the lug nuts didn't get tightened and immediately returned. The truck got pulled back into the shop and shortly the service writer came back and said the lug nuts are tight and my front rotors are warped and needed replaced. Now, I'm pissed. Rotors just don't warp by accident... they warp from excessive heat. I drove this vehicle 50 mile just the day before and this truck didn't do this violent death wobble. I explain this to the service writer and his response... well how do the rotors warp from changing fluid. I said exactly? How do they warp from changing fluid? His response... well we can get your vehicle back in and replace the brakes for you. Umm... no thank you, my truck drove perfectly fine in here... now I have to pay you to fix something that wasn't broken. After heated discussion the service writer has enough and walks off with a good bye... have a nice day. Pretty unprofessional. I go to leave and stop...im not going to let them ruin my vehicle and say nothing. I'm going to let the general manager know about the tomfoolery going on in his shop. Long story short, the service manager and sales manager take my vehicle for a test drive(while I'm in the car.... because I don't trust them at this point) confirm the front rotors are warped. I continue to ask how the front rotors get warped from a fluid change. Then insist that they didn't cause the damage and accuse me of bringing it there with faulty brakes. I told them I wouldn't even drive this vehicle with it shaking so bad... and this truck has never done this... going so far as to swear an oath on a Bible. After the drive, they did offer "financial incentives" to repair my truck... but at this point, I don't trust them at all to perform any maintenance on my vehicle and I tell him exactly that. With that said, he said "well, I guess we're done here"... I agreed. Anderson Toyota damaged my vehicle possibly by accident.... possibly on purpose and now you want to fix it. I'm sure your "financial incentive" will get buried in parts and labor costs. Sorry for the long rant, but I figure I would give an honest review. I'm sorry to say, I'll never step foot in that dealership again. Pretty sad, considering we had good experiences. I am very disappointed when the warranty is so bad and the service staff and service manager do not respect customers. My car was in normal use, but when I took it in for maintenance, when I received it, it had freezing display and going to black errors, and I came back shortly after to ask questions and was accepted to replace the part and then still kept having the problem again and i had to go back a second time with update software and immediately the problem came back again. I am very unhappy with my newly purchased car having this problem less than a year. And I had to come back for a third time and the service guy decided to do a long service and I had to leave my car for almost a week and then the staff took my car all night with all the Harsh Braking , Harsh Cornering and Fast Acceleration reported continuously through the Toyota app on my smartphone all night and then continued to use my car the next morning to go to Home Depot. I was very upset and went back to the dealer on Monday morning to ask for an answer from the service manager and he broke his promise by not solving my car problem and also calling me back and the next day but he didn't call me for the next few days. My mother just purchased a brand new 2011 Corolla from here in November of 2011. At that time they were offering a $100 back with a purchase (which isnt a big deal when you're purchasing over $18k in product). But it made my mother happy since she already was planning on buying a car. Well its been nearly 3 months and Anderson has been very unresponsive in giving my mom the $100 they've promised. She has called them repeatedly and every time they tell her that the check is on the way or in process. Finally tired of waiting, she stopped by the dealership to try to get this dang check and the Sales Manager tells her that the promotion has ended so she will not be receiving the $100 as was promised to her. As a marketer, I know that is a very improper thing to do. To promote some form of money back but not delivered, is what we in the marketing field call "FALSE ADVERTISEMENT". Well we all know Word of Mouth is what helps businesses, but i hope our bad WOF will help other when they are considering buying from here. This experience has altered my mother's once pleasant opinion of Anderson Toyota to where she is just disgusted with them. Took my SUV for a 5000 mile maintenance and it took them 15 minutes to complete the work. The tires weren't even looked at, let alone rotated. Jeff went that extra mile for me seeing I was turning a lease in early and my credit had taken a hit due to identity theft. The sales manager, not so much. With so many numbers being thrown at you it's difficult to know whether you are really getting a good deal on a vehicle.. After reviewing my financing figures, I found that I was "misunderstood " about how much money I wanted for my trade in. I ended putting up the cash rather than my trade in, wasn't going to be taken advantage of. Said they were "doing me a favor" ... Hmmm really?? I am actively seeking to purchase a Toyota Tacoma. My two major choices within 25 miles of were I live are Anderson and Ken Nelson in Dixon. I had multiple dealings with both companies over the past 20 years. My last two NEW cars were purchased from Anderson. This was to be my 3rd new purchase from them. I opted to start my search at Ken Nelson. The model and color I wanted was not in stock. But they located one for me. I was provided with their bottom-line price. The Consultant and Sales Manager were very helpful and professional. I advised I would be visiting Anderson on the following day to see what they could do for me. The Consultant and on-duty Sales Manager at Anderson were accommodating and we reached a deal. They found the color that I wanted at another dealership and I agreed to pay the transport costs in addition to the aftermarket add-ons that I wanted. Financing was assured and they confirmed it would be 2-3 business days and the car would be in Rockford for my inspection and acceptance. I left them a $500 deposit and they gave me a copy of the spec set with the exact car that was to be delivered. 6 days after seemingly sealing this deal, I called the Consultant for a status. He was out and I left a voice mail for a return call. I did not get a call back and I tried again the next day. There was no call back. I then called the Sales Manager. He told me he could not establish contact with the out of state dealer and could not tell me when to expect the car. He did not offer any alternatives prior to ending the call. This is unacceptable and deceptive behavior. It is the old bait and switch routine. They clearly wanted to sell me the vehicle they had on the lot. They made my deal, took my deposit and then failed to deliver. This is dishonest and deceptive at best. A review of the posts above indicates that this is a recurring problem at Anderson. I went to Anderson for their excellent Service Department. The Sales Department has assured that I will do no further business with this dealership. read more

A few months ago, I stopped in before a trip to get my oil change at Anderson Toyota while working in the area. I decided to purchase 4 new tires. I had shopped around at the dealerships nearer to me (Streamwood), but they were very expensive. Anderson Toyota however gave me a great price on all 4 tires. I was pleased. I was back in the area last week and stopped in again for an oil change. The Service Manager there was very easy-going. He called me later and mentioned that I needed brakes (which I knew I did) and when I went to pick it up, the brakes were done cheaper than I could have gotten them anywhere near me. Well I came to this dealership as Hesser in Janesville has no one to answer their phones and they cannot fix Toyotas and East Madison Toyota has no one answering their phones as all they do was ring. My car got a notice from Toyota that the passenger air bag was recalled so come in and get it fixed. Called Anderson to make an appt. They answered promptly plus were friendly, so that gives them high marks. Hubby brings in vehicle, drops it off and gets a ride from the shuttle to work. An hour later, Anderson calls and says, "Come and pick it up. Parts need to be ordered and we'll call you when they are in." What??? At no time did anyone say anything about needing to come back a 2nd time on the phone or when car was dropped off. Hubby had to be late for work and was inconvenienced. So I called the service manager to express my frustration . He actually called me back and I explained to him about my frustration regarding a lack of communication from their staff and my hubby being inconvenienced again. I stated that he ought to get a free rental car the next time, and he agreed that it would be available when my husband came in. I was happy about that as I knew hubby would be happy to show up on time to work. Fast forward. Anderson calls and says parts are in. I ask rep if free rental car will be available and he states that it will be. "Says you are to get a free rental car, so we'll have one for you." Hubby drives in. Anderson takes the vehicle. Hubby states, "Where is the rental car so I can get to work?" "Oh we don't have one available." WHAT????? I couldn't believe it. Why didn't they call the night before and state no rental car was there? After waiting for an hour and seeing husband really ticked off, service rep finally "finds" a car and off he drives to work. An hour and a half late. Well, this place is better than Hesser and East Madison Toyota. But it would be a million times better if the left hand knew what the right hand was doing. On Friday evening we gave him a check for $100 to hold a vehicle until the next day, while we waited on getting a credit approval. Al assured us the check would not be deposited, that it was only a sign of good faith on our part. I had made it clear we were not yet purchasing the vehicle, but having them hold it until we could decide (I refused to sign a purchase agreement when we were at the dealership on Friday evening). We subsequently chose a vehicle from another dealership. When I went back to Anderson on Saturday afternoon to retrieve my check, I was told by this same sales rep (the one who told me he was personally holding it in his file) that I would have to wait until Monday, as only the general manager could return my deposit. This was directly in conflict with what that same sales rep had told me not 18 hours earlier. He then became angry because I had not purchased the vehicle he had shown us, and I was angry because he would not return my check, because I had been made to wait an hour, and because I felt he was not being honest with me. Our verbal exchange quickly devolved into a shouting match on the showroom floor (for which I was - and still am - embarrassed because I had let him get to me). What also bothered me was that on Friday morning I had spoken with Al over the phone and told him the type of vehicle I wanted and the price I was willing to pay. In that phone conversation he told me he had four or five vehicles that met my criteria. Yet when my wife and I drove the nearly fifty miles on Friday evening to look at these vehicles, he had none of them on the lot (he claimed they were at their various affiliated dealerships) and tried to sell me a vehicle for $8,000 more than I was willing to pay. The only other vehicle he showed us was a Buick sedan, which was a nice vehicle (and the reason I had considered it and was willing to put down a refundable deposit to hold), but ultimately it was not what we had wanted. I had felt deceived because my wife and I had made a long drive on a cold night to look at four or five vehicles of the type we wanted and at the price I was willing to pay. Yet Al had none of those vehicles to show us. What made this a real problem is that I am a dialysis patient and had to forego my Friday evening treatment so we could look at the vehicles he had represented to me earlier in the day over the phone. I will not do business with this dealership because I do not believe their salesman was honest with me. In my opinion he was pushy, unprofessional and fits the stereotype of every say-anything-to-get-you-to-make-the-purchase car salesman too many of us have had the displeasure of experiencing. . read more

Took my 4runner in for a brake bleed. Service person called and said the brake bleed is done and pedal is nice and firm but there is less than 5% left on the pads and they need to be changed immediately. When I picked the 4runner, the pedal did not feel any different (very soft). I notified a service guy in which he took it for a spin. He said the truck stops and drive a 100 miles or so and it should firm up. No such luck and when I took the truck home, I took the wheel off myself to see the brake pads. More that half left. I wish I knew how to post pics. What a scam they have going. The Toyota service department is exactly the group you read about charging for unnecessary services. read more

With my 2004 Toyota Sienna, oil change was $35. Now, we have 2014 Toyota Sienna and the oil change now is $80. What the heck!!! they wouldn't figure out why the price different change but offer coupon of $5 off. I try to schedule an appointment of same day to be ready to be on road to Texas tomorrow. They say they only have one for next week. Really? There's plenty of appointments available for tomorrow and the next day and so on online. They should combine telephone/online schedules to fit in for the clients. I guess I'd have oil change done in Texas instead since they aren't that friendly to work in with the clients. read more

So once again I have an issue with this dealer and not only have they lost my business for buying a car, but as of this morning they have lost my business for service. I went in for an oil change and expressed my concern that the tire pressure light was on. Being a former mechanic I know that that means there is an issue. I brought it to my service writers attention and asked to check the tires for an object. I was then asked if the light was flashing and I said no just constantly on. That is when I was told that " unless it is flashing it is ok." After the oil change I got my paperwork and nothing was said about the light or a possible object in tire. I got in my vehicle and the light was off but not.long after getting down the street it came right back on. I Do u le checked my owners manual and it stats whether flashing or ON that I need to consult with my dealer. Obviously something is wrong and needs to be addressed.
