So our gate opener decided it was time to give up over the weekend which left us with a very large gate and no simple way to open it . The gate opener we had was very old so no manual over ride or safety features. I found Anderson's on yelp and decided to call them . When we first moved to LA about three years ago we found Loren and hired him to do our gate work after seeing all the good reviews he had on here. It all started fine and seemed to be OK until it all went completely wrong. A few months after having a functioning gate it started to break down and Although we had a "two-year warranty" Loren wanted us to pay him a $150 service fee for coming out and fixing the gate several times. When we refused to pay him and showed him the paperwork with the warranty info he was very aggressive and even started texting me insulting messages. I had decided to put this whole terrible experience behind me and move on, but for some reason he recently came up on my friend suggestion list on Facebook. After scrolling through his public profile I found some pretty disturbing messages that seem racist to me. PLEASE, AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS. I had to update my original 5 star review of this business because I have never encountered such a rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional business owner. We encountered several problems with the gate Loren Anderson installed, and after a rainy season, the gate stopped working because Loren did not properly seal the box where the motherboard was stored. He came back to fix the gate, however, we encountered frequent issues with the gate that necessitated him coming back to tend to it. Even though we had a 2 year warranty with him, Loren attempted to charge us for some visits because he was upset that he had to come and fix the gate with such frequency. Because he did not want to honor the warranty - and because we were tired of dealing with his rudeness- he told us how to fix one particular issue with the gate. However, my husband and I are not gate experts, and because we were unable to fix it, he blamed this on us (despite the fact we had a warranty and he refused to honor it). He had the audacity to blame the shoddily-installed gate and its many issues on me and my husband. He became increasingly rude, impossible to get a hold of, and even became hostile to me and my husband (see attached text messages). Each time the gate stopped working, we had such anxiety because we did not want to deal with Loren, yet we had no choice because he was the one who installed this gate. I waited to update this review once we moved out of that property because we feared retribution for this updated review. But please, please, PLEASE do NOT hire this person unless you want to deal with an arrogant, disrespectful, and extremely unprofessional contractor who will make you regret the day you called his office. We hired Lauren about 4.5 years ago and this was a very toxic experience for us. We have hired many contractors through the years an none were as unprofessional as Lauren and none used the types of products that were so cheap. We needed both our gate motors replaced and the gate needed some welding to work again. We had never lived in a gated house before so we didn't know our options. Lauren put in a cheap gate motor and products and charged us lift master prices (which we ended up changing them to just 2 years after everything he installed because it all broke down). The motor he installed was not big enough to handle the gate and the intercom system he installed at the gate was something we found for 99 dollars on Amazon from China that had one star reviews. It never worked properly, nor did either gate. He left us with cheap mostly unworkable remotes, cheap motors, cheap intercom, etc. The welding was done very well but everything else was bizarre once we ended up going with a different company and seeing what most people use as industry standard. Here is where it goes from bad to worse. Lauren yelled at our employees several times. I think he said it was for things like after he left his equipment in the driveway he felt someone ran over it. It was in the driveway unattended. Then he almost got into a fist fight with our contractor who was working on the house. The few times that Lauren was at our house were scary with yelling and cussing every time. He didn't aim it at us but he was always stressed and aggravated. Many of our onsite people were concerned. After he left the last time we just didn't want to call him again because we just don't know what type of person he is but he left us with cheap equipment that broke and also brought a seriously unprofessional and unsafe environment. We had two different companies who came to correct his work said everything was done poorly or improperly (except welding) and had to fix EVERYTHING. (We had two because we had an emergency fix on the exit gate that the first company was booked until the next week so they recommended another company to service the emergency issue and both companies have 100+ reviews on yelp that are positive....should have chose them to begin with). It looks from reviews that Lauren has grown in business and maybe doesn't have these problems anymore. I wanted to write the review back then but I didn't want the guy who knew how to get into my gate to have access to us and we have moved since then. Loren arrived on his motorcycle 2 years ago to help install an arm I bought and problem solved with absolutely genius ideas. I originally bought an arm from home depot that he was willing to install but informed me I would have problems with it. After research we went with an arm he supplied that also comes with his guarentee. We have never had any issues with the arm. He has great energy and is a father/son team. I wish I would have had them build and install the whole gate from the start. He is prompt when I need help and had helped me multiple times with issues I've had from our gate that was built by someone else. He's our go to guy, he is coming today and repairing my post once again. Do yourself a favor and have him do your entire gate build. You will be so pleased. read more

My rolling gate recently stopped moving but would make a loud hum like it was trying to move. I called some Gate companies for troubleshooting and when they diagnosed it they told me it was my internal drive motor that failed and that because I had an older obsolete Elite gate opener that was no longer in business they could not repair it because the replacement drive motor was not available any more and they wanted to charge me $$$$ to install a new one:( I did not want to give up on saving mine so I called Anderson's Electric Gates and I spoke to Loren on the phone, he was familiar with my brand of operator and told me they were telling the truth about Elite being no longer in business but he also told me from experience he learned that the Eagle commercial gate openers he installs have the identical drive motor with the same RPM, Horsepower, wiring harness and even has the red overload reset button on it so it is compatible with my old opener and readily available and that he could rebuild my operator with it and give it a full service for way less $! To speed things up he drove to the Eagle manufacturer ( Sylmar) and purchased it directly from them and came within 2 days! Now it is operating smoothly and better than ever! Nowadays everything is throwaway and that does not help the environment either. We purchased a new gate motor about 2.5 years ago at no small expense. The first one was a lemon so Lorenzo agreed to replace it. The second one has not been any better. It does not work in the rain, sometimes during dry weather it will open but not shut. We've called Lorenzo nearly every month,( I am not exaggerating ) which he charges us a 100.00 to come out and repair. Well about 3 weeks has gone by since the last repair and 100.00 and once again it stopped working. He will not answer calls or texts. He knows he gave us a crappy unit but I presume he just doesn't care. We called 2 other gate companies to repair it as we were fed up with the monthly 100.00 charge. They had never seen/ heard of this gate manufacturer and would not/could not fix it. So proceed with caution if you hire Lorenzo. Friendly enough guy but sells shoddy products. I wanted to wait a couple months before reviewing in case any service issues arose. So far the electric gate Loren and his son installed works flawlessly. The hardware he installed looked sleek and substantial. Loren had to weld an extra piece to my gates to make them taller and the results look seamless. You would never know they were added. Like everyone, I found Loren to be a nice guy and feel that he does stand behind his work. His schedule was busy so I had to be flexible with the start and finish of the install. Nothing that was unreasonable and I was forewarned. The only idiosyncrasy I experienced was that he is not very responsive to texts. I get the impression he likes calls more. Loren Anderson was referred to us by our real estate agent to install an electric gate on our recently purchased home in Altadena. Loren quoted us a fair price (a not to exceed quote) that obviously had a lot of thought put into it. We had lower quotes but the other companies clearly had not accounted for some of the work that needed to be done and I think their final cost would have been more than what we paid Loren. He did the work quickly and with an attention to detail. The gate looks nice, works great, and is of high quality. We have another gate on our property that we may want motorized in the future, and we will certainly be back to this business when we decide to do that. read more
