Nobody at the bowling desk ever. I always have to find somebody and when we are bowling I always see people waiting at the desk for help to start bowling. They would do more business with waiters to the bowling lanes. Bartenders always seem confused when people ask for drinks or food for a lane. Employees are bowling or just talking and never serving. We were all in one area, but people were moving around alot, lots of food and drink orders... everyone was happy with the efficient service and the food was great!! This is my go-to place to play bingo (and pull tabs) with my daughter who lives in the area. It's quite popular and I always make sure to arrive early to get a "good seat." On my latest visit we sat at the bar in hopes of getting better service. There was only one server on duty (along with the bartender) who showed up just about when the bingo started. The staff and bingo crew were all very friendly. We ordered beers and food. They don't have a huge variety of beers, but they do have a couple IPA's on tap to choose from. The food is fine with some interesting appetizers, but it's not why we go there. It was our lucky day and we won a small amount on a bingo and $$$ on the pull tabs. read more

Came here for Bar Bingo and the Meat Raffle. We didn't win anything, but we still had fun! Our waitress was AMAZING. She had great recommendations (I think her name was Emily, I meant to write it down, but forgot.). I got the potstickers which were very good and the tater tots were perfectly crispy. Andover Lanes is a large bowling alley with a bar & grille called "The Guild" - 3.5 stars. I've driven by a million times but this was my first visit. I stopped in for food and to check out the bowling alley. It's a big place but if you've never been here before it's a little tricky to find. You can't see it very well from the main road. They're located next to the theater and behind Willy McCoy's. I'd say my food was average bar fare - 3 stars. The food came out quickly but it wasn't anything special, standard bar & grille stuff. I wasn't impressed by the "Wagyu" beef. It was just an average over cooked burger. On the day I stopped in, the customer service was 2 stars. Despite being really slow with hardly any customers, I had to get the staff's attention to get service several times. It seemed like nearly all the employees were super bored and more interested in gossiping with each other or messing around with their cell phones rather than helping customers. There also seemed to be a herd of elderly regulars in the restaurant. The staff appeared to be more interested in each other and in the neighborhood regulars rather than the new guy (me). The only exception was the pro-shop with 2 older dudes, super professional and friendly. The bowling alley is large, clean, bright, and cheery. They have 24 lanes. I'd say the whole bowling alley thing is pretty cool, a solid 4 stars. I'm averaging everything out to 3.5 stars. On the bar & grille side they also have pull tabs (of course) and bingo on certain nights. On the bowling alley side they also have a pro-shop, a shoe/bowling ball counter (of course), a food & beverage counter, vending machines, and last but not least, a pretty big arcade area. The large Jurassic Park machine looked particularly cool - big & bad - fun if you like being chased by dinosaurs. Oh, they also have one pool table if that's your thing. Tripleshift corporation only want good reviews on google. The staff (Olivia) at Andover Lanes is great, its Tripleshift which doesnt allow their employees to think outside of the box to bring in business which is why people have gone elsewhere for their entertainment. Next, Tripleshift when it does get to busy doesnt have the staff on hand to handle the rush expecting the Operation Manager to squeeze blood out of a turnip. Dont think this just happens here, it happens at every Tripleshift center which they own and it burns out the good employees they have into them leaving. So whatever board of directors who is running this nonsense, allow your employees to have some leeway to drum up more business, instead of looking like a ghost town. One other thing open up at NOON to bring in the parents, instead of 4PM who want to get their kids out of the house for open play during the winter months read more

Really irritated with this bowling alley. Brought my mother in law for bingo. While she was playing bingo we decided that we were going to go bowling. They told us open bowling wouldn't be until 6:30 pm ok fine. But when 6:30 came along we went to get a lane and they proceeded to tell us bowling was only for leagues. Like wtf. Have lived in Andover for 20+ years. I've visited Andover lanes multiple times over the years, after tonight I would be hard pressed to return. Pre-paid bowling reservation where Andover Lanes front of house was so mismanaged we waited 20 minutes after pointing out we were here for an individual to finally show up to give kids shoes. Stopped down to order drinks and a pizza was informed the kitchen was 1.5 to 2 hours backed up. I asked the server to explain in her view what was causing the concerns tonight. She mentioned they were about 5 people short across the business. I asked if the 5 people existed on payroll and would have they been willing to come in. Her answer was yes, but bad planning on her managers part. Very evident by the chaos tonight that the manager should be looking for a new job. The place was an utter disaster. read more

We started bowling at 6:30, the waitress never came after 40 mins so I went to the counter to order food and drinks. The boneless wings came after 10 minutes and were pink in the middle. Do not try to play Bingo here when they have special events!!! We arrived 1/2 hour after the doors were open and many of the tables were covered with belongings yet no one was seated there. We asked around for any available seats and none were available. Bingo staff said they were not going to add any more tables or utilize the empty seating in the bowling area. An hour before Bingo started (after being there for almost an hour) we left and went home. It was handled horribly. People come when the doors open and drop their stuff at the tables they leave and come back when Bingo starts. They lost future visits from our group! read more

We've been to this place a few times over the years and it's never been great but never been notably bad either. Until tonight anyway. We arrived at 9:20 and waited 10 minutes to be helped to purchase our bowling and get shoes. Annoying but fine. We got our shoes on and started our game. At about 9:50 we went to go order food but were directed to the bar because the concession counter was closed. We ordered a couple drinks and an order of cheese curds with marinara and ranch. Paid and while the bartender was making drinks started making remarks about how his night was going to be worse with a food order going in before kitchen close at 10. Mind you, we didn't see any signage or anything notifying us of this. We debated cancelling but at that point we figured it would've just led to wasted food. Fast forward 10 minutes food comes out but missing one marinara. Again, we just figured ranch is fine but it tasted funky so I went up to get the marinara we had ordered. The woman visibly and audibly annoyed went in the back and took a noticeably long time to return. When she did she appeared with an opened Heinz marinara sauce cup (normally served sealed like any garden variety condiment cup). I found this odd. Sat down and it was exceptionally runny and looked off. So I went and asked for a second sealed one from the bartender and sure enough something was added (my guess is saliva) to the first cup. Their food has really gone downhill. We stopped in for bingo and service was really slow (although that is everywhere due to lack of staff). Our pizza took forever, when it finally came out, it was cold. It obviously was sitting out for a while. Bringing us our dinner was almost like an afterthought. This is a fun place. We've gone here a few times and haven't had to wait too long for a lane even during leagues. We've ordered food and drinks as well, they're actually not too over priced, the thing is here. There always seems to be a family with unattended children right next to us. This most recent time it was so bad that we had to stop bowling and wait at least 5-6 minutes for the parents to wrangle their children out of the way, we finally asked to be moved to another lane, and the staff immediately accommodated us without question, hesitation, or complaint. We also did have a few questions about the digital scoreboards keeping accurate scores/points, and if you're here for leagues I'd say to definitely make sure you're keeping an eye out or manually keeping your own points as well. read more

Our experience last night for the New Years eve bowling package was fantastic . Wanting to stay close to home but still have a little fun we opted for this . After a pretty pathetic attempt at a new years eve package the prior year we almost didn't go. But I had heard there had been some changes to management and staff and decided to give it one more shot . Upon arriving we instantly noticed that the lights were dimmed and the " party lights " were on . A nice young man came around with hats , glow necklaces, bracelets , and party favors . Within 20 mins the waitress had brought out the pizzas included in the package with a pitcher of pop . Took drink orders and smiled the entire time ! They had a few games for prizes and truly made an effort to create a fun atmosphere. Thank you for reinventing this event , you made it worth coming out at 10 pm and not spending the night at home in my pajamas ! read more

The last time I had gone to this bowling location me and my friend got harassed, treated horribly, and yelled at because the bar tender assumed we smoked! She had literally said to my face "you know I can smell weed on you! You really shouldn't be doing that" and I don't even smoke so I was very mad! On top of this when we had tried to get the women's attention to order food she looked at us then walked away! We literally had to yell at her to get her to come talk to us. Then she acted like it was a nuisance that we wanted to buy food and made us wait a long time to even order. I am not pleased with the management of this organization they do not have a strong grasp on customer service. My situation was related to an organized league, not open bowling. I will not frequent Andover Bowl, and because it is the same company Super Bowl. I bowl many tournaments, never again in these locations. read more

Had what was suppose to be a good morning with my son ruined with no help of staff. I realize there's "bowling etiquette" but we had 3 old men on the lanes next to us on Sunday morning $1.49/game bowling complaining about us because we weren't staying off our lane while they would step up to bowl. First employee apologized but asked if we'd wait our turn. Clarification- we weren't going at the same time as them but we also were not waiting for their ball to roll down the entire lane before taking our turn either. Next, one of the old men asked me if I could teach my son to wait his turn. I told him that we were there for fun and he was doing just fine. About 15 minutes later the manager (or who seemed to be the manager) asked me if I could tell my son to wait for them to bowl before he takes his turn. I told her we were almost done and would be leaving. She told them this and then stood with the 3 men watching us bowl our last two frames. We bowled two games in less than an hour and 15 minutes into it I was very uncomfortable and felt unwelcome. This wasn't league bowling. This was discounted bowling for fun. Perhaps the staff could have explained this to the jerks that went out of their way to ruin what was suppose to be a fun time for a mom and son to enjoy instead of automatically backing them up, no questions asked. Not great service when you choose to be an instigator instead of a mediator when two customers are having an issue. I snapped. Words were exchanged between me and the old jerks that no one else needed to hear in the place and I feel sorry they had to hear that. Did any employee step in at this point? Nope. The first employee did give me two free game coupons after I came back inside to say I should, at the very least, get a refund for one of the games. read more

Went to Andover Lanes last night to play bingo, grab a bite to eat and have a beer with my hubby. Our server approached us immediately when we sat down with nothing but smiles and made us feel welcomed. It wasn't but a few minutes laster that I overheard our server and manager talking about cutting someone off the floor. I looked around and thought that wouldn't be the right choice with how busy it was. Well sure enough, our server was left being the only server on the floor. This poor lady had no help taking on 60+ people and their needs. I felt bad for her because she had people trying to order stuff, ask her questions about the menu, pay their bills, etc. and all she could do is apologize for the inconvenience. Understanding it wasn't our servers fault, we carried our night out by grabbing our own drinks and help cleaning up our own mess. When our server was finally able to approach us, she was very apologetic. We reassured her we understood that she was overworked and that she did her best. We appraised her hard work and gave her a good tip which she was thankful for. When getting ready to leave we noticed a couple of customers helping cleaning up messes and bringing things to the bar for clean up. Granted that was by those customers choice to help out but come on. I never seen the manager once besides when asking to speak to him. When the manager approached us, I expressed my observations and concerns of the night. His response was that it was not that busy at 6:10pm (which it was packed because there were only a couple of tables open) where it was necessary to have two servers on. Completely wrong Mr. Manager and your customers and that awesome server had to pay the price of your poor decision. Poor decision of cutting someone off the floor when needed and you not helping your staff out. I gave the rating of three stars because the server and bartender were awesome, food & drinks were decent and the atmosphere was clean. Love this place! Nice clean building, friendly staff, really good food for a bowling alley, and some awesome bowling specials. They have free bowling on Thursday nights, $1 games on Sunday mornings.
