I have been going to Andrea's for over 45 years. Their food is just like my Nana used to make, so I love everything they make. The only problem I have is that they run out of the French sub bread way too early. This is not a one time issue, it has happened to me 1 out 3 times that I called to order. If I call at noon to order a sandwich, I expect you to have bread. It's better to have too much bread at the end of the day that to lose a sale and have an unhappy customer. I've driven by this establishment many times but didn't have any idea it was a deli or even a ravioli manufacturer! The deli gives off a very retro/vintage vibe and had meats hanging up from the ceiling. If you browse around, you'll see that they sell the same ravioli that's sold in Shop rite and offer products that were imported from Italy as well. The deli doesn't have any menu and basically how it works is that you make your own sandwich based on what they have at the moment. In the picture, I made a sandwich that included breaded chicken cutlet, roasted peppers, homemade mozzarella, prosciutto, basil, balsamic vinaigrette, and oil. I happened to drive past Andrea Foods and decided to stop in ( I have never before). When I walked in a lovely lady went into detail as to all the foods and desserts they offer. I was so indecisive for everything looked so delicious. I ordered the chicken parm and it was perfect. I also had their tiramisu and it is out of this world. I will most definitely be back.. Let's see ... My very first observation was that there was no menu, or signs displaying their sandwich options. Keep this in the back of your mind. Anyway, I ordered a small Pasta Fagiole (macaroni & bean soup), and their "famous" Chicken Cutlet Sandwich. And I was charged -- get this -- $22.38! I will admit that I asked the woman behind the counter to add a little Broccoli Rabe to my sandwich ... but what accounts for the add'l $10 charge? All I can say is, this better be the best f'ing chicken cutlet sandwich ever, or I'm taking back my second star! #stickershock Epitaph: I devoured my sandwich, while driving. I will volunteer that it was fresh & quite tasty. However, I had no trouble polishing the whole thing off, all by myself. I saved the soup, for dinner. This just is not getting 5 stars for being my 100th review, but is truly some of the best ravioli I have ever had. Not only that, but go in for lunch into the deli. They have pre-made delicious specialties (made right in the back) that they warm up for you. They have these pizza breads that are incredible, and anything in the case you cannot go wrong with. Stop in, grab the frozen ravis for dinner and get lunch. They have limited seating. read more

Are you kidding?? This is outstanding. The best sandwich in recent memory. Custom sandwich: chicken cutlet, provolone, roasted peppers, balsamic vinegar on a hard roll. It was outstanding. There are two tall tables, four stools. No menu. I'd still drive out of my way to stop here. That it's an old school family run business, run by nice folks is just a double bonus. The first red flag is the fact that no prices are posted, there is no menu, not even a list of sandwiches. There is an array of room temperature foods-pasta, chicken, fish, eggplant-all of which can be had for $10.99 a pound! To put that in perspective, a spaghetti and meatball dinner at Zabar's is $9.98, and a box lunch at Dean & DeLuca is under $10. Both of those places are noted for their extravagant prices, high even by NYC standards. The check for my reheated and mostly tasteless chicken and a little pasta was over $15, just a plain ripoff. This place obviously counts on its customers either not knowing or caring that they are being overcharged for very ordinary food, or simply being too embarrassed to ask what things cost. Everyone loves an old-school Italian grocery, but no one likes to be taken for a ride. Shame on Andrea for price gouging like this. read more

I will never order food from here again. I ordered angel hair pasta from here and it was a bit oily so when ordering today I specified to make sure it's not too much oil or if it pre-made which I suspect it is then simply drain it. I received my food today and it was as if they did the complete opposite. It looked like they took all the pasta out and poured all of the oil, tomatoes, a chunk of cheese and scraps of pasta left into my container. I drained out more than 2 cups of oil from my tiny container. Absolutely disgusting!! I tried giving them a second chance but never again. read more

Andrea Foods in Orange N.J. is the epitome of what old school deli's were and should still be. From the moment you walk through the dr you are welcomed as if you are walking into a family members house. Sinatra is playing in the background, the ladies behind the counter serving the food are beyond great, the owners are always there making sure everyone is taken care of the way they would want to be treated.
