The real deal. I have been craving a really good sandwich-a NYC bodega style, packed to the brim, flavorful sandwich. I decided to check this place out, it's highly recommended across all my socials. After this sandwich I understand why. I got the #11 turkey and American cheese with most of the works (lettuce, tomato, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper) It was exactly what I have been wanting. All the ingredients were fresh!!! The bread was nice and soft and of course the OG Boars head turkey. The turkey was sliced for my order. Perfection. I appreciate that they don't skimp or overdo it on the ingredients, it was perfectly balanced. The store itself was very clean. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice, he welcomed me multiple times and walked me through how to order. I went to San Diego State University and there was a sandwich joint next door that I ate at maybe three times a week. I haven't found a place like that in 20 years. I did today. I've been living in Union for almost 20 years and have never tried this hidden gem of a sandwich shop (and much more!). I ordered George's via Uber for lunch one weekday working from Union. Service was prompt and got my order less than 45 minutes. First of all, the menu at this place is extensive for a sandwich shop. There are all types of tasty options, that I had a tough time choosing one thing. I stuck to the original turkey cold cut sub with all the fixings. There were two sizes, and i chose the larger one, which was enormous!! Bread was very fresh and there wasn't a shortage of turkey. I also ordered a chicken Caesar wrap that was extremely tasty and had a ton of chicken in it. Along with the sandwiches, I tried their macaroni salad that had a bite and hit the spot. Been waiting for this place to open. It's so close to my house I was hoping it would be good so I could become a regular. That being said, George's Subs follows through on their promise of a tasty sub. I got a full sized "traditional" Italian. I added extra meat to a number 28 and had him throw on some balsamic glaze to go with the oil and vinegar. I had a sandwich that I was able to eat for 2 days. The cost is relatively high, but $26 for something I can eat for a couple days is absolutely worth it to me. Good bread and quality meats! In chatting with him, George informed me he's going to be doing house made homegrown pickles and possibly some hot pepper relish in the near future. I'll definitely be back! read more

I live down the street and have been scoping this place out while it was being constructed. It was certainly worth the wait. They take the time to thinly slice the meat in front of you and your sandwich is loaded. The owner is nice guy who is conversant. I got a roast beef Reuban, their specialty Italian, and a muffuletta. The olives in the muffuletta were excellent. The fresh mozzerella in the italian was thick, moist and flavorful. My roast beef had the proper ratio of cole slaw, that was neither to thick or to watery. I truly appreciate how the meat is thinly sliced and stacked. Unlike some other sub places in Union, you can literally watch them constructing your food. The bread is of high quality, the subs are large and their specialty subs were delicious. I will undoubtedly return and make this my go to sub place for the area. My only hope is that they maintain this quality and consistency as the months pass. I strongly encourage you to go here, support a small business, eat good food and be happy. read more

I ordered a "Dirty George" and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of meat they put on the sandwich. It was absolutely delicious and fulfilling. The staff was happy and helpful. I waited a long time for Chef George to resurface and he certainly didn't disappoint. The place is clean, the staff is courteous and the food is fantastic. Every time I go, I attempt to order the Muffuletta but it always sells out quicker than I can get there! I look at it as a way to take advantage of some of the other delicious items. I've tried the Sloppy George and it's a great tribute and rival to the NJ 'Sloppy Joe'. A winner. On my last trip, I ordered a whole #34 which is the Prosciutto, Fresh Mutz and Roasted Peppers sub. I had the staff dress it anyway they wanted to and it was loaded. The sub was the length of my forearm down to my fingertips. I'm not kidding you....it took me 2 days to eat that sandwich!
