First time at this place on Saturday, I have to say, I never give out five stars unless I mean it, Andre's deserves it! Walking into the restaurant reminded me of an art museum, the umbrella chandelier in the center of the room really catches the eye. The food was creative and delicious. We received the best service from Riley and other staff members! What put the experience over the top was the little gifts we received in between our courses, a spoonful of taste, a palette cleanser, little truffles - these extras made Andre's feel like I was actually dining in a Michelin restaurant. Next time I definitely want to try the tasting menu they have planned. A definite return for me and a must try for those who have not! read more

The food is excellent. The choices available on any given night will please any palate (except for someone who shouldn't be dining out!). My only complaint? The over-the-top pretentiousness of the servers and bussers. Obviously, the staff are trained to say "How are we doing this evening?" "Is everything to our liking?" "How are we liking our mocktail?" "Are we ready for our check?" Now, if our server was tasting our food and drink, and if she were willing to split the tab with us, I'd say "We're thrilled!" Lovely atmosphere, delicious food & friendly yet professional service. We were a party of 7 and each one of us was delighted.

We were guests of a family holiday event at Andre's today and I was simply agog with every dish I tasted. Let me explain. First you should know this is a very intimate location along lake tomahawk in Sparta NJ. I hope to return when the weather warms to enjoy the outdoor dining. We had the most intriguing and mouth watering appetizers that started with two types of oysters, one with caviar on top. There were also lamb chops that I will dream of tonight (garlic and herb butter). These melted in my mouth. This could have been the entree. Next there was a fried artichoke with a delicious aioli on top, and a corned beef stuffed tater tot with a sage jus. For the kids (big and small) there was also pigs in a blanket. I know I know. Those were just appetizers. For lunch we had a selection of lemon tagliatelle with crispy cauliflower, New York strip or salmon with hollandaise. Our group tried all three and I was head over heels for this meal. The cherry on top was the lava cake and ice cream. The staff was legendary. All of our needs were met and each and every person went out of their way to attend to the needs of all guests. It's no simple task to satisfy over 30 people and they did that and more. Great atmosphere whether dining inside or out. Staff is wonderful, friendly with service obviously at the top of their list. EVERYTHING on the menu sounds great and even better once served. First time coming here two weeks ago and I've already been here twice since. This place is excellent all around. The service is excellent, the dishes taste amazing, and the atmosphere is elegant and cozy at the same time. The waiter was thorough in explaining each dish and the specials and gave us some backstory for the restaurant as well. Our dishes were brought out in a timely manner and all tasted amazing. My family and I went to their pasta night on Wednesday and I had the best tasting mushroom ravioli I think I've ever had. I would love if it was a main dish or appetizer. Their tasting menu was excellent and their portions as just perfect. I'm definitely coming back and recommending this to anyone in the area read more

First off, the ambiance and service were absolutely fantastic and out of the park. I tip my hat to them for the great accommodations and speedy yet accurate and delightful service. If you want to have a very beautiful and classy dinner with a partner or your whole family this an awesome spot to do it at . The river was very Erie at the time which added to its mystique and beauty. On a clear hot an sunny day it's a great photo op location. Second, the food / drinks. All of our waiters / waitresses were fantastic and really kind. We had some kids at our event and they wanted French fries and there was no issue getting that out to them . As an adult we got jealous and also ordered French fries and there was again, no problem there. It was a 3 course set and all of the courses were very good. The only knock I have is that nothing was great or blowing me away. That does not mean this place is bad or anything of the sort. In fact I would gladly return to this establishment. I just felt like the steak could have been more flavorful. The mushroom soup could have been more robust (the bread assortment they give was actually delicious) . The one thing that I can say was my favorite part of the course was the cheesecake. I think that was the highlight of my course. The crust was nice and buttery And the cheese wasn't too heavy and not too lite. All in all I had a fun time here and I would love to return. A give-away that this place is a true gem - it might be tucked away a little off Route 15 in a residential type area but still very busy and it isn't getting attention from drive-by's. The popularity of this classy and creative restaurant has happened by word of mouth and great reviews - and deservedly so. A family-owned restaurant, the owners are always there, present and friendly, to ensure everything runs smoothly. Funny though, it is so well run with such professional staff, that extra assurance wouldn't be necessary! The lakefront outdoor dining makes it unique already - and don't get me wrong the indoor dining options are fantastic as well - but sitting outdoors gives a certain level of relaxation while enjoying a special dinner. The waitstaff was amazing - friendly, personable and knowledgeable - they contributed to an outstanding experience. It would be hard to explain how our waiter hit the sweet spot of reading the room and knowing when and how to be excellent in his timing and recommendations with excellent menu and ingredient answers. All of the menu items were creative, tasty and flavorful. The menu was perfectly sized with options for standard offerings as well as unique tastes and combinations on other items. Everyone at the table enjoyed the appetizers, main courses and desserts. The pre-meal cornbread was fantastic as well. Like so many NJ restaurants, they have to deal with antiquated non-sensical liquor licenses so it is BYOB - but interesting enough, we had a good bottle of wine and the waitstaff not only knew the vineyard but also the vintage year and specific makeup of the grapes - incredible! We started off our casual Wednesday dinner at Andres outside. It was stunning and beautifully serene until the torrential downpour started. Even being underneath the tent, we were still getting soaked. So, having finished our appetizer of the inside out burrata outside, we moved inside. My fiancé and I loved the burrata appetizer, well balanced with the arugula salad and the sweetness of the peaches and plums. For our main entree, we shared the tomato basil pizza, which we had the pleasure of watching Andre himself prepare outside by the wood fire stove. The pizza was everything we had hoped for, crispy crust and gooey mozzarella cheese, topped with fresh basil. After polishing off the pizza, we moved onto dessert. My fiancé and I opted for the creme brûlée, which itself is a work of art at Andres. Crowned on top with beautiful berries and a sugar cookie, the creme brûlée was perfection and just the right amount of sweetness. We will certainly be back, as we can't wait to try their other menu items. A huge thank you to Tracey, Andre's wife, who checked on us during the evening and made sure that we had everything we needed. NOTES/TIPS: **On Wednesdays, it's casual. It's not their regular menu, but a great time to try this restaurant. **Make reservations!! A quaint place with a splendid location by the lake. Parking is a problem since this is really a house converted to a restaurant. Guests are effectively parking in the front yard of the house. They have set times for seatings so we had to wait a bit. Because we had booked a later time, they had run out of some of the more popular items on the menu. Wow! Unexpected surprise on a dark quiet road in the middle of nowhere! My husband told me he was taking me out for my birthday but I couldn't figure WHERE we were going on a long dark road. Andre's is in a big white house overlooking a lake & is BYO. GREAT menu - you can order the regular way off the menu or do a tasting menu. Being that it was our first time there, we ordered off the menu. We shared the charcuterie & cheese platter to start - great quality of meats & cheeses! Next we shared a spinach salad w/juicy strips of bacon. For entree's we both got the special - NY strip with a pesto sauce & yummy mashed potatoes. For dessert he enjoyed the best creme brûlée he has ever had & I got the lemon parfait - sooooo good & the coffee was excellent. We liked it so much that we made a reservation for New Year's. This was our third time visiting André's so I thought I'd officially leave a review. Our food was excellent and the new menu options are really great! I particularly enjoyed the bib salad with the toasted almond slivers as a starter. The service was impeccable from our server and we really enjoyed her personality. There were a few things that made this miss the mark, however. Firstly, there's not enough parking for the amount of people there so we had to park on the road which wasn't the safest option. Second, we weren't sat for about 20-25 minutes after our reservation time due to there not being a table. Never have I had this happen before when I've had a reservation. Third, I ordered my strip steak medium rare and it came medium well/well. I sent it back to be redone but then I didn't get to eat with my husband since his entree was fresh and hot, and the replacement steak took a while. read more

Andre's was the perfect place to celebrate my milestone birthday with my spouse. Everything from the service, menu selection, and atmosphere made our experience impeccable. We started with the charcuterie board and the special salad, tried some of the non-alcoholic beverages, then enjoyed our meals. I had the duck confit w/ penne, mushrooms and truffle sauce and my husband had the Steak Diane. Everything was cooked to perfection and our courses were spaced out, which added to the ambiance of the evening. No feeling rushed here. Our server was extremely polite, patient and knowledgeable about every menu item. They made our experience that more special. For dessert, my husband had the dessert special and I tried the flourless chocolate cake with a Vietnamese coffee. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the beautiful lake views, which was tranquil. My husband and I had dinner at Andres on a Saturday night. We opted to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly staff and brought to our table. There is a big tented area on the outdoor patio, so the sun wasn't an issue. The view is stunning. As for the menu, there are a few different options including a tasting menu, 5 or 6 course options, as well as an a la carte option, which we opted for. One drawback to the experience was the specials menu. This isn't printed, but instead rehearsed to you by the sever. This wouldn't be an issue if there were only one or two specials for the night. However, there were 5-10, and it was rather difficult to remember what was what. We ordered a few starters, including octopus, a pasta w braised duck (a special), and tuna tartare. My only complaint would be that the octopus was not as tender as it should be. For our entrees, I had the Arctic char and my husband had the scallops. The arctic char had great flavor, but was a bit rare for my taste. The scallops were wonderful. For dessert, we had ice cream and a flourless chocolate cake. Both were out of this world! Overall, I would recommend dining at Andres. The location alone is worth the trip! read more

I have eaten all over the world. But residing in Sparta, you can't always travel to Manhattan for a 5-star meal. I have to say Andre's never disappoints. They have a wonderful beautiful lake outside to enjoy your meal. The servers are always attentive and the best. They all know casual fine dining service perfectly. Andres is the only restaurant in this immediate area that offers 5-star dining. On this particular visit, my date and I were hoping for a particular menu service. The server told us it wasn't available. I guess the server saw I was disappointed and within a few minutes I was told Tracey (one of the owners) said they'd be happy to make what we wanted. My date and I were extremely happy. And from that point our meal was just uphill. Everything was excellent and cooked to perfection. The only thing which really isn't the fault of the restaurant is that outside by the lake, even with the tables spread out, the customers (especially in a beautiful setting like this) could have taken it down a notch as far as talking to each other. But it didn't really take away from much. Beautiful setting, excellent food from Andre and great service. And quite frankly the only other local restaurant that others compare Andres to is much louder and isn't even worth going to. I don't put down other restaurants but being a person that has eaten all over the world...if your looking for unique, usually great to excellent unique food- there is no where else to go as far as I'm concerned in the Sparta area and significant radius. I think for what Andres offers as far as food quality, location and service- they are priced correctly. They truly have 5-star meals being served in this area. read more

I came here with a group of friends for dinner. It is located on a lake and they have outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Upon arrival we were promptly seated. The restaurant is small but there is an upstairs searing area also. Our waiter was quick to bring water and open up any wine bottles. He explained the menu and answers any questions. The menu offers a tasting menu with 5 choices for dishes. You can pick any combo you want and they will accommodate you in way you want. Bread came to the table and was served with a choice of sweet cream butter and duck fat and honey butter. For an appetizer I picked two appetizers. I had foie gras and a scallop sashimi with salmon belly. Both were awesome, had distinct flavor and the texture was right on. For my main meal I had duck. It was cooked to perfection and had a great flavor. The portions were a perfect size and I was more than full when I left. I would highly recommend Andre's. At the end of the evening the chef/owner came out and said hi. Both he and his wife truly care about the restate the and their patrons. I will be glad to go back and support them. read more

I can't say enough good things about Andre's Lakeside Dining. I had a fantastic time at dinner last night. The ambiance of the outdoor patio area, the service, the live music and the food were all fantastic. I will recommend using/bringing bug spray as there are a lot of gnats as the night goes on. FYI, I attended Andre's on Casual Wednesday where the menu is different. My friends started with the Quail and Pork Belly appetizer. I tried the Quail and it was very tender. This particular appetizer is not really big enough to share in my opinion. We also started with the Jersey Girl Burrata - again the appetizers are not large but just enough to get a taste. Burrata was very fresh. Also for the table we did the Charcuterie Pizza - sauce was the highlight for me. For dinner, I chose the Chicken Bolognese. This was a regular dinner portion and filling. It is not traditional bolognese with red sauce so I really enjoyed their twist on it. Pasta was not overcooked and chicken was shredded. To end it all, the dessert special was chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream - I mean.. what's not to like!! Delicious! My friend did the Berries and Cream - I didn't try it but he really enjoyed it! Remember - BYO. Staff will bring over a chiller for your wine and they do not charge a corkage fee. read more
