I initially booked a reservation here because of the high ratings, and when I came here it was beautiful. I sat on the outside of the restaurant, but it was completely covered so you don't have to worry about the sun in your face. There are plants and flowers beautifully decorated throughout the restaurant. I feel like it's a good date location for pictures and good food as well. The portions here are good. We ordered the prix fix menu which came with a steak dish and french onion soup. Then we got the escargot for an appetizer and white fish for the entree. The escargot was a little on the saltier side, but the fish was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender inside. I just needed to add a little bit of salt for my preference. The steak was tender and the soup was delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed coming here to eat and take instagramable pictures. Had such a great experience at Le Grande Boucherie! The decor is absolutely beautiful, both inside and outside. The outdoor seating is actually within a building, so it still feels warm and comfortable even on a cooler day. The charcuterie spread was delicious, and my friends absolutely loved their meals (salad and the other two over easy eggs and potatoes) as well. Everything about the atmosphere was beautiful, and the service was amazing from start to finish. Such a gorgeous spot with great food, beautiful decor, and excellent service. The room is the whole show here, and to be fair, it's a great show. They built this thing over 6 1/2 Avenue, that pedestrian cut-through between 51st and 57th that most New Yorkers don't even know exists, and put a huge arched skylight over it with heated floors. Opened at the absolute bottom of the pandemic in late 2020, which took guts. There's genuinely nothing else like it in the city. Balthazar feels like Paris; this feels like a movie set of Paris. Both have their uses. The food is fine. Just fine. Onion soup was properly gratinéed, steak frites was cooked right but the meat itself was nothing you'd remember tomorrow. Skip the entrées honestly and do the rotisserie chicken, which is the one thing here that competes with the decor. Profiteroles with the warm Valrhona sauce are a solid close. One real gripe: those bistro chairs. Pretty, but after 45 minutes my back was filing complaints. Same group runs Boucherie in the West Village and the seating there is kinder. Go once, absolutely. Book pre-theatre, order the chicken, gawk at the ceiling, take the photo everyone takes. Just know you're paying Midtown prices for atmosphere first and cooking second. We ordered the lemon meringue stuffed croissant, hazelnut stuffed croissant, Sandwich au Boeuf, Caesar salad, prime steak tartare, oeuf cocotte, plus coffees and cappuccinos. The croissants were absolutely unreal--the lemon meringue and hazelnut were both worth ordering and easily some of the highlights of the meal. The Sandwich au Boeuf was the standout, though, and hands down the best thing we ordered. I would go back for that alone. The steak tartare and Caesar were both solid, and everything paired perfectly with the coffee and cappuccinos. The oeuf cocotte was the only miss for us. It was fine, but compared with everything else, it just didn't stand out and isn't something I'd order again. Service was good, the atmosphere is beautiful, and overall we really enjoyed our meal. The complimentary baguette and butter are good, and the butter is more salted than I remember but not a bad thing. Tuna carpaccio was good but a little too salty. I got the chicken (poulet roti) which wasn't bad but I don't crave it. It comes with gravy that's a nice addition for the chicken and pomme puree. Friend got the steak frites which also comes with its type of gravy which was peppery. He didn't like it much, but the steak was decent. We started with the French onion soup, which is super popular here, and I highly recommend it. Also got the Caesar salad, tartare, and grilled octopus for appetizers. Out of those, the octopus was my favorite. For the main we went with the Plateau de Boucher. One thing I do want to mention, because it was an issue, is that some of the meat came out overcooked initially. We had to send part of the New York strip back. When it came back out, they seemed to rush it because it was cold inside. Came in on a Sunday around noon and was pleasantly surprised to find no wait at all. We chose to sit inside, though the outdoor seating looked charming as well. Service was prompt, and we were seated immediately. My only complaint is that the table for two was extremely small, and the seating area felt quite cramped. I came here with a college friend for brunch on a Wednesday morning- firstly I was struck by how beautiful the interior of the building the restaurant was situated in, which lent to a wonderful eating atmosphere. My only complaint is that occasionally it was difficult to flag down a server since the seating area was so big. We ended up ordering the eggs Benedict and salmon toast to share. Both were very delicious, but I was shocked at how much I enjoyed the salmon toast - it was very fresh and the flavors were punchy with the acidity added (I'm assuming lemon). Started off my NYC steakhouse journey with La Grande Boucherie and had a palatable steak dinner with friends. I will note that when I was looking for a restaurant, I noticed a lot of suspicious 5-stars from people who literally have never written any other reviews before, so would take their glowing reviews with a grain of salt. Regardless, I enjoyed my experience and our server was very helpful with recommending the meats and side pairings. Treated ourselves to some mocktails to start - I got the Non La Vie En Rose, which was perfectly bittersweet. For hors d'oeuvres, we got the mousse de foie gras and bisque de homard. The duck liver was lovely, but the cherries that came with it were DIVINE. The sweet and savory combo with the french onion and cherry, the velvety texture of the duck liver - they were onto something with that pairing. For the star of the show, we ordered the 2pp Chateaubriand Pour Deux, which honestly was enough for the three of us. They didn't have the bone marrow, so we doubled up on the pommes puree. The meat itself was alright, perhaps not as juicy as I'd hoped but it was cooked to a solid medium (as we'd ordered), with the crust nice and crisp. And of course for dessert, we got the mont blanc and basque cheesecake - they were both great desserts, but imo the basque cheesecake didn't seem any different from a regular cheesecake. The fries that came with it were the perfect cherry on top and made the dish even better. The dry-aged ribeye was just okay for me. We had the cocottes and the French toast. The cocotte was dry, overcooked and flavorless. Madison Kayser, before it went under during COVID had amazing cocottes with Gruyère, and mushrooms or ham. For a couple of eggs and a piece of bread, these were ridiculously expensive. The French toast was just ok. Nothing amazing. The berries were fresh but the toast was just that... simple toast. I suppose we thought maybe it would be a bit more like a pain perdu. The location is very nice but it really feels more like a tourist trap. We are from NYC and expect more from a restaurant in NYC. After several trips to NYC, and wanting to go to this restaurant, we finally made it for a lunch before our matinee show. First the restaurant is impressively beautiful, you are immediately transported to Paris, if only for a few moments! We enjoyed our visit immensely and wondered "why haven't we tried this place sooner?" I ordered the escargot for an appetizer and I must say it was the absolute best I've ever had. My party of 5 made reservations on this Friday night at 6pm. We had to catch a concert at Radio City Music Hall. The restaurant spans an entire block and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Although we had reservations, we were seated on the second floor with no other people at first. I was meeting my husband and had to wait to be seated, which I found weird considering the place was empty when I arrived at 5pm. Cocktails were good - we had the "Coucher de Soleil" (Expresso Martini) and the "Hola Paris" (Parisian take on a margarita). Went traditional this evening. We started with huge crocks of French Onion Soup - generous cheese and onions ! And then we all chose the Steak Frites on this cold evening, which definitely hit the spot.
