FABULOUS. From beginning to end our meal was exceptional. The service was wonderful during a busy holiday season. Our server was attentive and kind, answered all of our questions. He helped us narrow down the menu to what we would enjoy the most. The restaurant was busy but very beautifully decorated. Our food was absolutely delicious. I had a lobster pasta dish that was a 10/10.
Came here to take out a friend for his birthday. Plenty of reservations left for Sunday lunch. It's the brunch menu during this time. The complimentary baguette and butter are good, and the butter is more salted than I remember but not a bad thing. Tuna carpaccio was good but a little too salty. I got the chicken (poulet roti) which wasn't bad but I don't crave it. It comes with gravy that's a nice addition for the chicken and pomme puree. Friend got the steak frites which also comes with its type of gravy which was peppery. He didn't like it much, but the steak was decent. I had the NA espresso martini which was good but I guess vodka is key to the flavor because something felt flat for me. Ended with a basque cheesecake with caramel - this was delicious.
La Grande Boucherie was simply amazing. I was there celebrating a friend's graduation and it did not disappoint. We started with the French onion soup, which is super popular here, and I highly recommend it. Also got the Caesar salad, tartare, and grilled octopus for appetizers. Out of those, the octopus was my favorite. For the main we went with the Plateau de Boucher. One thing I do want to mention, because it was an issue, is that some of the meat came out overcooked initially. We had to send part of the New York strip back. When it came back out, they seemed to rush it because it was cold inside. That said, it was still good, and they comped us for the trouble, so it didn't take away from the overall experience.
I loved this place and had to go back another day. The vibe makes you feel like you are in France. I ordered a French 75 (they had well known cocktail specials from a number of different countries playing in FIFA). And I had the eggs benedict. Food was yummy, service was good. Great spot for pics.

Service was prompt, and we were seated immediately. My only complaint is that the table for two was extremely small, and the seating area felt quite cramped. Throughout the meal, I was bumped into several times by people passing by, which made the experience a bit less comfortable. As for the food, it was very good overall. The steak was outstanding and easily the highlight of the meal. The Bourgogne was decent, though not particularly memorable. The décor felt fresh, stylish, and unmistakably French, creating a lovely atmosphere that complemented the dining experience.

Walking into La Grande Boucherie feels like stepping into a Parisian brasserie that somehow landed in Midtown Manhattan. Half the experience is the food. The other half is simply looking around. The dining room is gorgeous. Wood paneling, café-style tables, Art Nouveau details, greenery overhead... every corner feels thoughtfully designed. It's one of those restaurants where you catch yourself looking up between bites. The menu sticks to the French classics, and that's exactly what you want. French onion soup? Of course. Croque Monsieur? Croque Madame? Steak frites? They're all here. No need to reinvent the wheel. I ordered the steak sandwich with caramelized onions, Gruyère, horseradish aioli, and an au jus for dipping, all tucked inside a freshly baked baguette. It was excellent. The steak was flavorful, the Gruyère added just the right richness, and the horseradish aioli gave it a little kick without taking over. The au jus tied everything together, and the fresh-cut fries on the side didn't hurt either. Service was friendly, prompt, and efficient. Exactly what you'd hope for in a busy restaurant like this. Overall, La Grande Boucherie understands that dining out is about more than just the food. The room is every bit as memorable as the meal, and together they create one of the more enjoyable dining experiences in Midtown. If you're looking for classic French food in a setting that fully commits to the part, this place is an easy recommendation.
Great ambiance! Great service! Best octopus in New York! I actually came the previous day but they were out of octopus. I told the waiter to save 2 for me tomorrow and when I sat down, from across the room, he held up 2 fingers signifying he remembered I wanted 2 octopus! It by far was the most tender octopus I've had in New York. I plan on coming back for escargot and filet!
I came here with a college friend for brunch on a Wednesday morning- firstly I was struck by how beautiful the interior of the building the restaurant was situated in, which lent to a wonderful eating atmosphere. My only complaint is that occasionally it was difficult to flag down a server since the seating area was so big. We ended up ordering the eggs Benedict and salmon toast to share. Both were very delicious, but I was shocked at how much I enjoyed the salmon toast - it was very fresh and the flavors were punchy with the acidity added (I'm assuming lemon). Very refreshing and not too heavy for those looking for a nice bite. The hot tea, though it was from a tea bag, was wonderful and delicious as well. Would recommend as a lovely little brunch place in NY, and would love to try their dinner menu sometime when I'm back.
Started off my NYC steakhouse journey with La Grande Boucherie and had a palatable steak dinner with friends. I will note that when I was looking for a restaurant, I noticed a lot of suspicious 5-stars from people who literally have never written any other reviews before, so would take their glowing reviews with a grain of salt. Regardless, I enjoyed my experience and our server was very helpful with recommending the meats and side pairings. Treated ourselves to some mocktails to start - I got the Non La Vie En Rose, which was perfectly bittersweet. For hors d'oeuvres, we got the mousse de foie gras and bisque de homard. The duck liver was lovely, but the cherries that came with it were DIVINE. The sweet and savory combo with the french onion and cherry, the velvety texture of the duck liver - they were onto something with that pairing. For the star of the show, we ordered the 2pp Chateaubriand Pour Deux, which honestly was enough for the three of us. They didn't have the bone marrow, so we doubled up on the pommes puree. The meat itself was alright, perhaps not as juicy as I'd hoped but it was cooked to a solid medium (as we'd ordered), with the crust nice and crisp. And of course for dessert, we got the mont blanc and basque cheesecake - they were both great desserts, but imo the basque cheesecake didn't seem any different from a regular cheesecake. The interior is decked out with these towering ceilings and warm ambient lighting, very much that grand luxurious atmosphere for a fancy steak dinner.
My party of 5 made reservations on this Friday night at 6pm. We had to catch a concert at Radio City Music Hall. Arriving 10 minutes early, it was really not cool at all to make us wait while we see a slew of people after us get seated. We were perplexed as to why we had to keep waiting. An explanation would have been nice. Very professional. I had to go back to ask 3x. They kept telling me, "in another 10 minutes" but never came over to give is an update. Since you guys impose a $25 pp for no shows, how about we charge you for seating us 20 minutes late. Interior: - from the pics I thought this restaurant was grand looking but it is actually tight and cramp. The Bad: - I always look forward to the bread basket. Bread was cold and hard. - The app my sister and BIL ordered, Crispy Baby Artichokes was hella salty. Our waitress took note and said she will rely it back to her manager. And that was it. - One of the bus boys placed the wrong dish in front of us and we told him it's for the other person and he just walked away. Like really?? Fine, we'll just do it ourselves, don't put yourself out. - My son ordered the duck. $45 for two small pieces. Super disappointed that it was tough and way overcooked. - My mocktail came to the table in the middle of the meal, I almost forgot I ordered one. - Obscene prices for tiny portions. - The host (guy), you guys need to hire one that can smile. - Overall service (no comment). The Good: - The Foie Gras was excellent. You guys need to take some lessons from Balthazar.
Cuisine: 8 Service: 8 Decor: 8 Value: 5 Overall: 7 Fancy French bistro? Upscale steakhouse? Well, the prices say this is definitely a high end restaurant reserved for special occasions unless you have enough money to burn. If you are willing to spend, then there is a very good meal to be found here. Their porterhouse and ribeye steaks are both excellent. Great sear on the outside, while the beef stays tender and juicy. The quality certainly stands up to most of the famous steakhouses in NYC. On the French side of things, their Steak Tartare is tasty as can be. Escargot, Foie Gras, Mussels, and Steak Frites are all delicious too. For dessert, the traditional Crème Brûlée is a great choice. Decor and service are both fantastic. If you like your steakhouse with a touch of French, then you have found the place, as long as money is no object.
Finally got the chance to try this chic French restaurant that I've been wanting to try! We decided to just stop by for some appetizers and drinks, and even those didn't disappoint! We ended up getting a cheeseboard and some oysters and the drinks were also great. Service was a little slow and it seemed a little crammed as seating is super close to each other. Would love to go back next time and try dinner service, we just didn't get a chance to this time because we were short on time!

I went here for a friend's birthday! Very good atmosphere, delicious food, attentive staff, and good service. We got the different cut of meat platter to share with a portion of the table. Very good and enjoyable! Would recommend read more

Back at it again here. We loved the octopus, the steak, my favorite... the Niçoise salad, and the crème brûlée. The waitstaff is always quirky but always helps with the order, not shy which we appreciate. We are upstairs bc I was worried about being cold which we won't do again, it's not as appealing up there. Lovely east reservation to get before our shows and they're great at helping us get though. read more

This stunning grand French Brasserie in Midtown Manhattan NYC is known for its 40 foot glass ceilings and Art Nouveau architecture. The restaurant spans an entire block and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Although we had reservations, we were seated on the second floor with no other people at first. I was hoping to sit in the main dining room. I had the Lobster Linguine $54. It was good but disappointed in the amount of lobster. Only a few pieces. I also had the side Creamed Spinach $16. It was good but very expensive for a side dish. Our server was very nice and efficient. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. It was an amazing experience. The décor really stood out because it had a beautiful blend of indoor and outdoor elements, especially the plants that gave the space a fresh, open feel. I loved the courtyard setup; it allowed us to feel like we were dining outside while still enjoying a quiet, intimate restaurant atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of New York City streets. I came here with a friend for lunch on a Sunday, and since we made a reservation, we were seated immediately. The restaurant was full, but not uncomfortably so--it still felt relaxed and welcoming. Our host was fantastic: attentive, sweet, and very helpful with recommendations from the menu. Since it's a French restaurant, I had to try the French onion soup, which I'd never had before. It was really good--rich and flavorful. While I'm not sure I'd order it every time, I'm definitely glad I tried it. For my main course, I had the duck entrée, which was outstanding. It came with a sweet potato mash and lentils. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to a great temperature. The sauce complemented the dish beautifully and tied everything together well. The crème brûlée dessert was the perfect ending. It was well made and I never have a bad crème brûlée to be honest. I don't know that you can mess it up. So, it's always perfect to me. I was torn between that and another chocolate dessert on menu so our host was kind enough to just give us chocolate syrup on the side. lol. read more

Like a nice open faced smoked salmon bagel, but on toast. I wasn't in a cocktail mood, so had the two glasses of bubbles. Paired nicely with my meal. For the dessert we ordered, they put a candle in it as we were celebrating a friend's bday. I adore brunch. Especially a french style one. Tho a bit pricey at $300 before tax for a party of four. We had the cocottes and the French toast. The cocotte was dry, overcooked and flavorless. Madison Kayser, before it went under during COVID had amazing cocottes with Gruyère, and mushrooms or ham. For a couple of eggs and a piece of bread, these were ridiculously expensive. The French toast was just ok. Nothing amazing. The berries were fresh but the toast was just that... simple toast. I suppose we thought maybe it would be a bit more like a pain perdu. The location is very nice but it really feels more like a tourist trap. We are from NYC and expect more from a restaurant in NYC. The ambiance is French for sure, but the food is far from it. They probably have the ingredients and ability to be better. Or maybe add some mascarpone. Anyways, just blah. The server was very attentive and nice. No problems there. I would not go again. read more

I ate here a while ago at this point, but it was overall a great experience. The service was decent and lunch prixe fixe menu was a good deal. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very elegant - kind of like a conservatory. A good place to go before the theater! read more

Really wanted to like this place especially for the prices but unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. It took forever to be seated even with a reservation which was incredibly annoying and where we were seated eventually had many open tables. The French onion soup was good but too thin and not charred enough. The one at Pastis is much better. The mushroom ravioli was actually pretty good and the filling was nice. However there was too much garlic. The chicken dish was extremely over cooked and dry. The chocolate dessert was yummy but nothing special. The grapefruit dessert was a bit too bitter. Service was ok. Definitely would not pay normal prices and come back. Was maybe worth it for restaurant week. read more

This place is just ok, very touristy which I should have expected lol. I was meeting my husband and had to wait to be seated, which I found weird considering the place was empty when I arrived at 5pm. I also had to pay for my drink at the bar before the bartender would make it, also found that kind of weird. The food was fine, pretty good steak frites, I wished the escargot app came in the shell. The drinks were amazing though, one of the best dirty martinis I've ever had. read more

La Grande Boucherie has a beautiful Paris style atmosphere with high ceilings, classic decor, and a warm, lively vibe. Perfect spot for a date night or a relaxed dinner. Food is solid French classics and the whole experience feels elegant without being too formal. read more
To successful for their own good. I don't love the policy whereby they won't sit you until your entire group has arrived but I understand why they do it. That said, you don't an arrogant maître d' doing it rudely. And it works a lot better when the bar is a full bar and not half blocked off for diners so there's other nice to go while you're being forced to wait. Food was meh. Steak was tough and undercooked. Service decent but no better. I won't be back. read more

Wonderful dining experience at La Grande Boucherie, joining NYC's restaurant week program this winter. Cocktails were good - we had the "Coucher de Soleil" (Expresso Martini) and the "Hola Paris" (Parisian take on a margarita). Went traditional this evening. We started with huge crocks of French Onion Soup - generous cheese and onions ! And then we all chose the Steak Frites on this cold evening, which definitely hit the spot. Steak was prepared perfectly and the fries were great too. Finished off the evening with delicious creme bulee and chocolate tarts and ...Voila! Manifique! Place itself is beautiful and enormous. Can you believe they can sit up to 850 patrons here? Crazy! Sophia, our server, was great and attentive throughout our experience. We shall return! read more

From the moment we walked in we felt like royalty. Tammy the Tornado is constantly searching for the best eggs Benedict in town wherever we go. This trip she fell in love at Boucherie. Here you're transported to Paris without the flight over the ocean. My omelette was cooked to perfection and delicious. Jose our waiter was the best. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Cappuccino was perfect too. Well worth the six block walk from our hotel room at the Sanctuary hotel. read more
Was here for our 5th year anniversary with my bf. I had the onion soup and sea bass while he had the steak frites. My honest opinion on the onion soup I was kind of expecting more from it. Kinda got tired of the taste after a few spoons. The soup part could've been more flavorful. And I know this is a must try at this restaurant but I rate it 3.5/5 :( The sea bass I had, was disappointed with the flavor. I was kind of expecting more and not giving a bland finish. However, the steak my bf ordered was pretty good and juicy. The highlight of my dinner was the dessert because it was delicious and changed my palate from the app & main dish lol. The service was great at this place. The servers were very chill and friendly. The place is kind of noisy and more a corporate dinner place after work type of vibe and not date night. Was here for brunch with friends. Great place for gathering. Great frenchy decor, felt like we're in Paris place. Service was good and attentive, the foods are well presented and good. Could use abit more seasoning to make great. The drinks are excellent. Overall it was a good brunch. read more
The grand finalé of our New York trip was Easter Brunch at this establishment. What a gorgeous setting with stunning architecture. We were led up the sweeping staircase and our table in a little nook upstairs had comfortable but elegant ambiance. Service was attentive and we contemplated the menu, adding brie as an interlude between starter and our main course. I chose escargot, which were tenderly nestled in garlic butter and Kyle was thrilled with his steak tartare topped with quail egg. Accoutrements for brie included candied nuts, honey and fresh fruit. Kyle opted for the steak sandwich with cheese and horseradish with au jus . I chose steak frites medium rare. Pommes frites were perfect and my New York steak was cooked to order topped with french butter. A great meal at an iconic New York French Steak House! We were sated all the way through our 7 pm flight from JFK to SFO. read more
This place is absolutely gorgeous and was open on Christmas Day. Bless all the staff for working on a holiday and making it a special day for all of us. It was hectic, and customers can be difficult, but the staff was still so great and amazing. I really enjoyed the mussels and fries, as well as the pear dessert. Compare to other French cuisine restaurants in NYC, this place is OK. Reserved this place because I walked by this place multiple times, and I was impressed by the vibe and ambiance. And I looked at the restaurant review and photos, I thought this might be the place opened by bouchon (but unfortunately not) Why I give this place a so so review because they did not do good job on French onion soup and my madame dish French onion soup is super salty, even you dip the bread, it is sooooo salty. We cannot even finish half of it Madame's bread and cheese, they messed up. Half of the bread is overcooked and half of it is undercooked... Environment is busy and they rushed everything. For the money I paid, I don't think it is under a good French food quality. I will skip this place next time when I am in NYC read more
