They quoted $9600 for a completely new unit. I called another heating and air company to verify replacement was really necessary. The technician found a disconnected wire on the compressor. After speaking with the office manager at Alpha Heating and Air, she apologized for the mistake of a inexperienced technician that left the ac unit inoperable from the disconnected wire. Alpha Heating and Air will compensate my distress with a full refund of the cost for this routine service call.

Extremely happy with the experience. Lee gave us a very competitive bid and patiently answered all of our many questions. The install team -- AJ, Mike, and Julio -- were awesome. Arrived on time, completed the job by 3:30, and left the basement furnace and outdoor AC space spotless. They were even sweet with our very friendly dog. Love working with a local business -- LamAir really cares about their customers.

Lam Heating and Air Installed my York system and we have had yearly maintenance contracts with them…read moreever since. I believe if someone shows up and does reliable service it's worth sticking with them. However, recently, I had a blower motor go out. It was a warranty claim. Given that the unit was intermittently working, I had them send a tech out for a second visit, which I paid for the same rate, who found that things were working perfectly at that time. I accepted that if it's not working consistently, it's worth replacing so I decided to move forward with the repair. We did get a second opinion from another company who said the warranty motor should be covered in the install of that was about a one hour job. It should cost between $375 and $450. Given that we had had all of our service done and the install by lamb Air, I went ahead and chose them given that they were processing the warranty claim even though their quote of 875 was dramatically higher. I will own that it was my fault for assuming, with no HVAC experience, that they accurately had an understanding of how long the install would take and priced it appropriately. I cannot say enough positive things about the tech who did the install Greg Stanton. He has come to our home multiple times over the years and provided exemplary service. Greg was able to replace and complete the job in less than one hour. I paid the full quoted price for the installation of this warranty covered blower motor of $875. I did however, then reach out to the manager of Lam Air and explain to them that while I understood they were a "fixed price company", I had trusted that they adequately estimated job costs based on their professional experience of the time that was required. I feel that $875 for a plug and switch repair like this that took less an hour... $875 was excessive. The manager basically thanked me for my opinion, knowing we were a lifelong customer but said "we are fixed price company... sorry". Lam Heating and Air got my $875... But lost my business going forward. While I feel Lam has excellent technicians I would avoid at all cost a company that does not price their jobs fair, or take into account ACTUAL install times. Unless you're independently wealthy and have no concerns about reasonable pricing I would suggest NEVER using Lam Heating and Air.

So I called Vicki, who claimed to have never seen my response to her email. Said she would try…read morereach Jarra. Jarra called awhile later to let me know how fortunate we are that "the company has cleared my afternoon so I will try to be there to take a look between 1:00 and 4:00 pm"-and that's with a cleared afternoon. Jarra also inquired about my email, claiming that no one can find it "Vicki can't find it the owner can't find it, everyone is looking but it isn't there." There were no problems with our email exchanges in December, so I am sure Vicki is simply having more trouble. Jarra texted around 3:15 to tell me he was headed our way from Eagle Point and arrived at our door at 3:50. He explained that he was on the phone and speaking with a technician about the codes I had told him about and that he would start trying to track the problem at the heat pump while talking with the technician. Jarra then came inside the house to the air handler while still speaking with the technician on speakerphone. The technician was explaining that there was no communication between the controls, the heat pump, and the air handler and he was quite certain of the cause. He told Jarra what he could do to test the theory and eliminate other possibilities, but again, he was certain of the fix needed. While they were talking Jarra answered a query from the technician saying "this unit is a 950, not an 850" which gave the technician pause before he said something like "oh, ok, I didn't realize that. Well, it is what it is but I am still betting that this is the fix." Jarra then explained that he needed to remove our thermostat from the living room wall and try to hook it up direct at the air handler to both the air handler and the heat pump to see if he could establish communication between the three. He then proceeded to do this. When I asked Jarra why the technician became sympathetic when he learned that this unit was a 950 instead of an 850, with some hemming/hawing Jarra explained that the 950 has some "peculiarities that can cause issues" or words to that effect. He further explained that there is now a 1050 that is supposed to address those issues. After connecting the thermostat direct to the air handler and heatpump control located in our closet, Jarra explained that he could not figure out how the wires were run from the thermostat in the livingroom to the air handler and would need to "check with my company to see when the can free someone up to come help me. You will need to leave the closet open so the the heat sensing unit can tell how warm it is. I will be back to finish this up as soon as we can arrange it. He then left us with nothing but a hole in the wall with wires sticking out where the thermostat was and the thermostat sitting on a toolbox in the closet with the air handler and instructions to leave the door open. Feb. 18, 2026 Jarra called this morning, inquired as to whether everything was still working. Then said something along the lines of "well I've talked with everyone I need to talk to on my end and we are ready to come back and complete the repair and I was wondering, , well management was wondering if we do that, would you be willing to withdraw your unfavorable Google review?" Not having expected to have my repair completion held hostage, I began to say that I would have to think about that, given that these issues have been ongoing since this company carelessly/recklessly allowed the computer motherboard in the system to get soaked. I further explained that along with the constant extra costs and uncomfortable temperatures, the constant interruptions to our lives having to wait/be available for 3-4 hours waiting for a technician, etc. have gone on for years as well and the company has remained completely unconcerned until right now. Jarra then did some more hemming and hawing and I asked him if what he was trying to say was that the company was trying to end our relationship hoping to further avoid responsibility. Jarra confirmed that it was his impression that if I am unwilling to reconsider and withdraw this review and forget everything that has gone before then the company wants to end the relationship, but said he would need to speak with them again and would call me back. Jarra called back about 10 minutes later to inform me that the company was quitting without finishing the current repair and was voiding the regular maintenance contract, "but they decided they would refund to you what is left on the contract. And at least it is working, but if you don't want to leave it like it is you will need to find someone else to finish the job. You could leave it like it is and it should be fine for awhile but it won't be as convenient.", or words to that effect. Was disappointed but unsurprised with Allied's decision, and sorry for Jarra's part in it. Shameful conduct all around.

Well, he called only to inquire how many registers (vents) were in the home. Apparently, 11 registers is above the normal 8 registers and we were quoted $890 over the phone and via email. I then called Jim Williams who was recommended by the very dependable Mark at AirTec. Jim arranged a time to come inspect and provide a quote. So pleasant and professional. We were quoted $400 and he was able to schedule the duct cleaning within the week! House air is noticeably "fresh" and we were so happy with his work!

Our system hadn't been serviced since we bought the house 4 years ago.  The Grants Pass, OR based installer had retired and I had to find a knowledgeable alternate.  My challenge was finding a reliable maintenance company who truly understands these systems. My search led me to Mark Webb and Pacific Heating & Cooling of Medford/White City, OR.   While Pacific can handle the typical HVAC calls, Mark's company KNOWs Geo; installation and service. When my system started having trouble producing heat, I called Pacific in for the maintenance.  Now Merlin, at 40+ miles away, is well out of Pacific's normal service area but Mark found time to fit us in quickly.  Mark's communication was excellent (timely texts to confirm the appointment, tell me he was on the way, about to arrive etc).  He was punctual.  He expertly evaluated the system, executed multiple maintenance procedures and repairs, replaced faulty components with OEM parts (who else carries "ClimateMaster" parts on the truck) and quickly had my system pumping out 91 degree air (up from 66) in no time.  Of equal benefit, he carefully explained GeoThermal theory to me simply and then provided web links to ClimateMaster maintenance info so I can handle basic maintenance like topping off coolant, burping the circulation pump, and identifying trouble codes in the future.  Nobody likes a surprise when the bill comes in and I won't divulge pricing but let me say that I was surprised ...PLEASANTLY ... the fee for service was significantly LOWER than my lowest estimate.  And he showed me some system design improvements to significantly improve the systems basic performance.  Now ... I don't write reviews unless the organization EARNS one.  In Mark's/Pacific's case ... for EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE and winning a LOYAL customer who will tell others "For HVAC or Geothermal installation or service ...  CALL PACIFIC" Hugh Griffiths Merlin/Hugo, Oregon.
