5 stars for LamAir! In 2011, they installed a new furnace and heat pump for us and rebuilt the exposed metal ductwork in our 100+ year old home. They were back yesterday to replace the old heat pump with an AC unit this time, and since we now have so much wildfire smoke over the summer, an iWave air purifier too. Extremely happy with the experience. Lee gave us a very competitive bid and patiently answered all of our many questions. The install team -- AJ, Mike, and Julio -- were awesome. Arrived on time, completed the job by 3:30, and left the basement furnace and outdoor AC space spotless. They were even sweet with our very friendly dog. My tenant in Talent Oregon had their AC quit late in the day in July, and without my knowledge called Lam-Air to make an after hours call. In their favor their man came out on short notice during very early evening. So points for availability and promptness, professionalism and courtesy, etc. He also did a quick and accurate diagnosis of a blown condenser. So points up for them for that, too. But only a few point because that is a likely and simple diagnosis (before he even arrived I suspected that's what he'd find) and takes only minutes for any knowledgeable experienced AC technician. The charge was $160 for "after hours diagnosis." OK reasonable enough. That knocks them down from 4 or possibly 5 stars to only 3 is they charged $187 for the replacement capacitor. This is a part that even I paying retail prices can readily buy for about $20 and likely cost them $15. I understand they need to make a margin on parts they stock and carry... but when I checked with some other HVAC services they said they'd charge for $50 for that part. When I discussed this with the office manager, suggesting that this was either a pricing error, or an unreasonable price, her position was that the parts price included the cost of installing it, that the $160 charge was only for the diagnosis. That still doesn't make sense to me because (A) the labor of installation should be broken out and (B) most HVAC services will credit the diagnostic fee toward the service time charge if you proceed with them to do the repair on the same site visit. The office manager does not see it that way and would not make any adjustment. So here's how the math works to me: If the reasonable and still profitable price for the capacitor is, as I'm sure, $50, that means I was charged $297 for a maybe 30 minute diagnostics and repair simple straightforward easy service call. So to my eyes their hourly rate calculates out to $594 per hour, but billed in a not very transparent way. In short... Good service, as far as I can tell likely to be competants, but arguably very overpriced, and not as consumer friendly as I wished. They could have gotten some more respect and points from me of the office manager had said something like "there's some merit to your concerns" and offered even a slight discount on the parts price. read more

He was able to get Scott (the technician) out that same day I called. Little did Jason or Scott know I would have to call back three more times until our heater issue was resolved, thanks to Scott! Each call had it's own issue that was at no fault to him. He was so friendly and helpful at explaining the problems, and took the time to talk about some of my concerns and future options I mentioned. The dogs absolutely loved him too! I have had LamAir out to service my heat pump several times this year. Each time they have been prompt, professional and efficient. On this occasion, like before, Jason, the dispatcher was a pleasure to deal with. He was very friendly and helpful in getting someone out to repair our heat pump quickly, which was a big deal this particularly cold winter. Robert, the technician couldn't have been better. He was great in all respects; knowledgeable, thorough, and very respectful of our home. That's consistently been the case with all the techs who have serviced our system. Update: Less than six months after we had them out here, the concerns that my husband had about a failing part in our outdoor unit, came to actually be true. The man who came here and charged us full price for flipping a switch in the fuse box had also looked at the unit for a minute, listened to our concern, and told us the unit was supposed to make that awful noise. Right before Christmas 2021, BOOM, compressor on the unit finally died. So, not only did he charge us a TON for flipping a fuse switch, he lied about the condition of the unit they had installed 6 years earlier. We've been without heat since just before Christmas. There are children living here, and a couple of aging folks with health problems. With no heat. Not OK. Do not recommend. read more

I got a lot of quotes before deciding on a company to install ductless heat pumps in my duplex in Grants Pass. Theirs was the only quote that included a 12 year warranty for parts and labor. When you're getting quotes, keep that in mind. They got there first thing in the morning right on schedule. It was a flurry of activity all day, but they installed two systems and were done by that afternoon. I had some questions and they sent someone over to show us what was going on. Hands Down the Worst company I have ever dealt with. The worst customer service, Endless lies and Brittany the office 'itch hung up the phone on me when I called her out on their lies. And then when it came to installing my furnace after 9 days, they had ordered the wrong size furnace and after making an endless big deal about how important it was to have 'extra time' to inspect the furnace, they came out, removed my furnace and when they went to put in the new one... they had THE WRONG ONE! (It was 39 degrees that day.) After calling for the 12th time the Sandy person who in so many words painted herself as the office aficionado of inspection and the one who lies and pretends she is on your side, told me she didn't realize it was the wrong size. That is why this half-a**ed company only had 2 Stars before this "review." Save yourself a Huge Headache, Heartache, Sleepless nights and almost loosing your mind. I had a real bad experience with Lam-Air. The dispatcher was great, the Techs have a problem and there seems to be no management. My home has two heat pumps, both Trane units and one seemed to be running constantly. Had a Lam-Air Tech check it, paid for a service call and he ordered a new mother board. Installed it on November 25, 2019 ($555.00) and the unit still seemed to be running all the time. Called to have it checked again and a different Tech said the unit must be replaced as the compressor was running hot. Called to find out what needed to be done and was unable to talk to anyone in charge. Called Grants Pass Heating and their Tech checked the unit and installed a new starting capacitor. The unit is running fine. Needless to say, I vote with my feet and I'm going to remove the Lam-Air sticker on the units. read more

Worst company I have ever worked with. They ruined our AC unit beyond repair and we need a new one because of them. When they were "fixing" the unit, the left pieces of wiring inside the pipe and it clogged, and they cut a hole in our home to install a pipe that was not needed, nor authorized. Horrible company. We first went with this company to address one of our air conditioning units. They charged us over $250 to replace a $5 part. Granted, i realize the price of labor and knowledge(etc.) needs to be paid for. Completely understandable. But the price still seemed quite outrageous for the 10 minutes he worked on our unit. my father and I had the unit dismantled and ready for him to look at. We also put the shields back on due to the fact that i have no problem with working with a screwdriver..... We contacted the company and they told us they would not budge on the price. Yesterday our other unit went out. so we decided that we would try another company. We went with Caveman AC and also decided not to take the shields off for the technician. He came out, told us that this unit had the same problem, changed out the part, advised us on how to avoid this issue, and still charged us UNDER $150. I'm disappointed with the lack of information Lam'air provided, the charge that my father incurred, and the lack of remorse they had when speaking with them on the phone. My parents are an unemployed couple, my father being disabled from work injuries. The lady was very rude, and i had no remorse when i made her cry. It sounds horrible. I don't care to be honest. I can't vouch completely for Caveman, i don't know if anyone is better. But at least with Caveman, I felt taken care of. read more

Love these guys! Would give them 10 stars if we could. We had Daikin Mini-Splits installed throughout our home. We love them. They are quiet, efficient and even running the AC this summer our electric bill was under $100. The guys from Lam-Air are great. We had problems with one unit and they stayed on it until they figured out and fixed the problem. I was beginning to think they would cringe every time I called due to the problem, but they were always friendly and prompt. But I bet they were glad when it was finally fixed! The old ductless system heat pump that was for my office went out. I called Lam-Air they came out to give me an estimate on a new system with three heads that would supply three different rooms instead of just the office. They went over the details of installing the new system and how it would work. The estimator called with a price for the new system the next morning, we agreed on the price and the new system was installed two days later. They did a great job installing everything, cleaned up and left no mess or smudge prints on the walls where the new heads were in each room. The technician then explained how the new system works versus the old one. I will definately call them again. read more

Run the other way. Terrible company. Had trouble with our AC unit. Lam Air sent "Jeff" the tech out to troubleshoot and conduct service. Jeff had zero answers and "serviced" our dual unit which included adding a pound of freon at 150$ a pound and taking a pound from the other unit to "balance." Unit still not working properly so they sent out the big gun,20 year tech "Dave" to tackle it- 400$ later Dave concluded "definitely 100%" electrical issue. Problem is, I called him on his BS and had my electrician over the same day to refute "20 yr Dave." The electrician called Dave in my presence to tell him the bad news, Dave argued with him and then failed to call me back (on a 100 degree Friday afternoon of course.) The following Monday still no call back from Lam Air so I called the office. Spoke with "David" the office Mgr. Long story short David was big on lip service and short on results. I had to show up in their office (30 miles away) a week later after multiple messages were left to call me back. After waiting 15 minutes for David to get out of a "meeting"(common theme) he refunded 2/3 of my bill, explaining that "20 year Dave" got real busy that day and was going to call me back- Sad excuse for a sad company. Zero customer service. SIDE NOTE: Called Southern Oregon Heating and they troubleshot the problem in 15 minutes. How Lam Air overlooked a control board being out is beyond me. Southern Oregon Heating had to replace the pound of freon that genius Jeff took out(150$.) All future business goes to Southern Oregon Heating. Beyond professional and they actually care, unlike "Lame Air." read more

LAM-AIR is a bunch of crooks..... Read on.... When the cold snap hit our heat pump wasn't keeping up, and wasn't switching over to the furnace only. We had to heat the house using a propane space heater. But that meant getting up every couple hours to turn the heater on. We called Lam-Air to come out and fix whatever the problem was. The tech came and listened to the symptoms I gave him, opened the panel to the furnace and talked to me about what a great tech he was. I pulled a chair up and sat and watched him, and he never touched test equipment to the electrical panel, the furnace or the heat pump. He tells me the system is 18 years old, is too small for the house, and that there wasn't anything he could do for me. He then says they have a York 3 ton system on sale for $5200. I put $100 down to get the ball rolling. The tech leaves. I look at the invoice and he writes it up for $5400. The next day I call Lam-Air and explain I'm going to get bids on this system. The lady sounds nervous. The assistant manager calls me back wanting to upgrade me to a 14.5 SEER system. Yeah, okay.... I start calling around and get another heating company to come out for an estimate for replacement. GP Heating troubleshot the actual problem, a $50 switch in the furnace. The system was NOT 18 years old, it was 9 years old. There wasn't a damn thing wrong with the system other than that switch. They are going to replace the part. Thank you GP Heating for being honest. So we went from a $5400 system replacement to a $50 part....We cancelled the check. I call Lam-Air and explain the lies the tech told me, and the office manager has a shitty attitude, which pissed me off further. I asked to speak with the owner and she had all kinds of excuses, and supposedly was going to have them call me (that never happened). I warned her I would be contacting the BBB. My gripe is this.... the tech lied about the age of the system, lied the system was too small for the house, did not even attempt to troubleshoot the problem, and then tried to over-charge me when he wrote the invoice. The office manager was rude, and the owners didn't have the courtesy to call me back and explain why they're a crappy company who lies to people. This company is a bunch of shysters!!!! Just got off the phone with Lam-Air after discovering the $160 dollar capacitor they replaced sells for $15 bucks. They said they have a "industry standard" pricing model they use for parts. Complete BS. Challenged the lady on the phone about the price and she said "sorry about that". No resolution offered. I would expect to pay 2x even 3x for convenience sake, but over 10x the price of the part? Thieves. Fool me once. After questionable work and truly bad customer service from Lam Air i got a second opinion on my AC Unit. I learned that the compressor Lam Air claimed was no good was actually perfectly fine. It was another issue altogether that, not surprisingly, was the result of a poor installation by Lam Air on a previous visit. This company is horrible.
