Andrew is a cool dude and is fair. I did a number on my car and he was upfront with me about how long it would be and what to expect after the fact. He's kinda like that doctor you like to have who actually talks to you after the exam is done rather than bailing out of the room because they're tired of hearing you talk. Considering the damage I did to my car it was fixed pretty quickly. Only perhaps a day longer than he anticipated since he needed another part, which he got quickly. He knows a lot about vehicles and gave me good additional advice about mine after the job. I have to give him even more credit for his honesty and keeping of promises. His crew misplaced my spare wheel, a dishonest or uncaring mechanic may play the "Not responsible for lost parts/belongings" but no, he took responsibility and replaced it and apologized. Anyone who provides a service that is quality and backs it up with being communicative, principled and just generally helpful is someone I want to bring my business to. If you're car is busted, I'd absolutely recommend at the very least giving him a call. read more

We recently had our Hyundai tuned up with Andrew, and it was a pleasant and worry-free experience. We later had our brake pads replaced with him. The staff is great on the phone, and the work (so far) has been without fault. I was offered a ride home (In fact, he seemed perturbed that I would want to walk home. I've still got *some* Brooklyn in me.), and I was given a phone call to explain/update the work. It's a tiny place on the corner of Label and Forest. For that reason you might not be able to randomly drop off and have the work done that day. However, both jobs were done within the day on our car. He was also willing to make some phone calls to find out why there was a price discrepancy between what he quoted and what the dealers quoted. Highly recommended. read more

I went to Andrew Mols on Label St. based on a recommendation from a town Facebook group. Initially my experience with him had been good, as a white presenting Latina. I used to bring my own car to him before covid19 but my husband took over after covid19 due to health concerns. Andrew told me that we need to replace the shocks and recommended that I buy the shocks online. He stated that he would just charge us for labor and gave me the price. He printed out the shocks we needed for Amazon and handed it to me. Amazing service, I was sold! Unfortunately, I lost the printout and was unable to reach him by telephone. I told my husband, who is Jamaican, to go to the garage and ask him in person. When my husband took the car to him, Andrew gave my husband a different quote, which was double the price. I thought it odd but gave the man the benefit of the doubt. This week, I needed to change the oil in my car. So, my husband took the car to Andrew on Monday in the afternoon. Andrew told him that he was too busy and couldn't do it. He suggested that we bring the car on Wednesday at 8am, it would take 20 minutes. My husband took the car to him this morning but Andrew told him that he is too busy today as well. Obviously, this man does not want our business. I wonder why.... read more

My husband, son and I moved from Park Slope 4.5 years ago and we absolutely adored our mechanic there with the idea that no mechanic in NJ could possibly top him with price, honesty, workmanship, etc. WELL were we completely WRONG. Andrew goes above and beyond our mechanic in Brooklyn and I truly understand why he has such a strong rating. He, first of all, is absolutely honest with you and you KNOW he is being honest when he tells you about your car (since he is extremely knowledgable about auto mechanics in general.) Second of all, he gives you options that are fair and just- for example, he said when I needed new brake pads " I will tell you which brake pads are the best for your car and you can buy them online for one third of the price that it would cost me to install them and I will install them for you." I love having an OPTION! I personally went for him purchasing and installing everything on my car (since going online for lazy me seemed to laborious) and my friends, he charged me a fair and NOT exorbitant price. My father owned a tire store and I have also had to deal with mechanics thinking I knew NOTHING about cars (which is a total farce- I will take you on Car Talk any day if you were still around :) and Andrew, in my eyes has won the account. He is respectful and for me, the fourteen mile trip to him is completely worth the time. FIVE STARS! read more

Andy has been my mechanic for about 3 years. I brought him my much abused Hyundai Accent (which he still works on) and now my '13 Volkswagen. I have referred others to Andy as well and they have all found him to be honest and fair. I have to second this review. We had dead battery and had been trying to jump start it with cables all weekend... Andy came to my house this morning right after I called, said he'd tell me if I needed new battery or not (gave various pricing options for new battery over phone). When he came, he started it right up (we'd been 'grounding' charge wrong...). Anyway, he wouldn't take any money for it and was super nice. Definitely made a new customer out of me! read more

A real pro. I have been taking various foreign cars to Andrew over the past 10 years. He kept an old Saab 900 running for years at hardly any expense to me, and he also has worked on my newer Honda and Toyota. Andrew is a skilled mechanic who is up front about everything he is doing. Horrible mechanic he stays drunk. I had a Honda accord and civic both he messed up or misdiagnose. He only accepts cash b/c he doesn't pay taxes so if you need to sue him you have no record. Think twice about going to him. If you dare to go to him pay with a check or card to keep a record. read more
