My experience with Andrew Hill High School and portions of the district administration was deeply disappointing and emotionally exhausting as a parent. Over an extended period of time, I repeatedly attempted to seek help, intervention, guidance, and family reunification support involving my daughter and concerns connected to school staff boundaries and communication. Instead of meaningful intervention, I often felt dismissed, minimized, and left without clear direction regarding procedures, parental rights, escalation processes, or who was ultimately responsible for helping resolve the situation. One of the most frustrating parts of this experience was the inconsistency in communication and decision-making. At different times, parental approval and involvement were clearly recognized and required for school-related decisions, extracurricular participation, transportation matters, and documentation. However, when I attempted to assert concerns and objections regarding my daughter's living situation and involvement with school staff, those concerns were repeatedly treated as a "private matter." As a parent, that contradiction was extremely difficult to understand and navigate. I also believe there were significant failures involving communication, escalation procedures, staff boundaries, trauma-informed response, and family reunification efforts. No parent should have to fight this hard simply to be heard while asking for help involving their child. The emotional impact extended beyond my own family and affected multiple students and families connected to the school environment. I will say there are individual staff members who clearly care about students, and I recognize that schools handle difficult situations every day. However, my overall experience exposed what I believe are serious weaknesses in policy clarity, procedural consistency, and parent communication. My hope is that lessons are learned from situations like this and that stronger training, clearer procedures, better communication with families, and more appropriate escalation protocols are implemented moving forward. I am sharing this review because I believe parents deserve transparency regarding how difficult situations may be handled and because I hope future families receive more support, clarity, and intervention than mine did. read more

There is way many wanna be gangsters. there are bugs, ants, and spiders everywhere, in every class and I have made it very clear to staff and teachers that it's disgusting.... spiders on my backpack.... ants crawling on me, ants on the desks it's endless. They don't do pest control at all and they allow kids to eat in classrooms which contributes more to the ant and bug problem. Staff is extremely unprofessional and if you anger them they will harass you personally. A few months into the school year this one guy got really pressed because I was riding my scooter to the bike racks (everyone else was riding it on campus IN FRONT OF HIM but when I did it he targeted me) when he saw me riding it to the bike racks He came up to me. I finished locking my scooter up and when I looked up he was in my face and was being condescending and rude, I decided to not engage and not give him attention because I did not want to create a scene. He tried to follow me and take me to the office because I was not giving him any attention, I ended up running away when he tried to take me to the office. After that I didn't see him the rest of the day. the next day in the morning I was late to class, there was nobody at the entrance except for that guy. I was riding my scooter going into school going 4 MPH and there was no one around. I rode it to the bike racks and locked it up. When I turned around I saw him (he scared the f outta me) he then said and I quote "hey buddy remember me from yesterday" and he said it like as if he caught me or something. this guy really wanted to make it his personal goal to get attention from me and harass me. When he tried to take me to the office again I ran away. Later in the day at lunch I saw him near the bike racks so I walked towards the bike racks acting like I was gonna get on my scooter and ride around campus. I then started recording the corner that lead to the bike racks because I knew he would come and harass me again, lo and behold he showed up to harass me again. I got it on video and linked it if you wanna see. Once I got him on video I left for a few minutes and then went back to my scooter to scrape the dirt off it and that guy saw me again and he was hanging out with 2 other lunch monitor guys, long story short he came up to me again while I was standing by my scooter scraping off dirt and said "let's not do that" and other stuff basically saying I wasn't allowed to touch my scooter Because I rage baited him by recording him harassing me he went and made it his personal goal to get revenge on me. He went and harassed me the whole day and harassed me a total of 5 times that day (I'm not gonna go in depth to each one because then the review would be way longer) anyways at the end of that day he finally found where my 5th period was, my name and who I was (somehow) and he went to my 5th period to harass me personally, he did this because he knew I couldn't run away if he harassed me at my class so I had to come to the office with him, he brought me to Georgie (Georgie handles conflict on campus) and georgie told that guy to leave me alone. This guy was so angry that he made it his personal goal to find out who I was and my classes just to go harass me there so I couldn't ignore him anymore. Everyone ended mostly siding with me in the end but the fact this guy is employed here is comical they should fire his a*s for sure. read more

The teachers here and staff are unprofessional and have little to no care for their students. There are always fights and the teachers watch and even encourage it. They have no clue what they're doing when it comes to education. This school lacks resources/funds/passion. There is little to no help when it comes for college preparation. The school administration does nothing to stop graffiti, smoking, or fights. Send your kids elsewhere they will not be set up for success here. Please do not send your kids here. read more

They do not respond to e mails they do not give out extra credit. The cheerleading team has PAPER BOWS bows made from construction paper and glitter. How embaressing!!!! I transferred here for 3 months and decided to transfer back to my original school immediately. The neighborhood that this school is located in is very sketchy and unsafe. The staff here are terrible. All the teachers mostly likely knew they were teaching at one of the worst schools ever so decided to make the lives of their student a living nightmare too. The staff in the office were not helpful whatsoever when I needed to speak to a counselor. The buildings are old and run down - kind of like what you see in a B rated horror movie. The only good thing about this school is that they built newer buildings and extended their parking lot. I would never enroll my child in this school if I had a choice. read more

Just transfer my daughter from another county over to this school. She's an IEP student, meaning she need extra attention and help. I expect the staff and teacher to be helpful and caring but instead they're ignorant as other students was making fun of my daughter. As school started and I got dropped off by my parent, Trevejo, the rudest advisor, told me to turn around, go home, and change all bc I wore a gray hoodie that clearly had green sleeves. Not blue! Not red! But GREEEN!! I understand we have color code but Jesus.. u really gonna make a student walk back home after getting dropped off n not allowed on campus over some green sleeves forcing me to miss my class time and education?? advisors and the entire faculty gotta understand that there's a distinct line between dressing gang- related and dressing out of color. A lil high school girl arriving in cold weather w a hoodie that has green sleeve should not justify her banishment from school. U gotta realize the root of the policy. Why are the school color code there in the first place? It's emphasis on avoiding gang related colors. Andrew Hill High School Teachers and Administration Staffs are so unprofessional . File a complaint and they don't do anything about them. First they call you at home and tells you that you're child is not in school when the kids are on field trip or at a game representing their school. Two You file for independent study and the teacher still gives your child a low grade because they' re not in school. All documents are done and filed. They have clubs and teachers are involve and they give no notes to tell you you're child will be practicing outside the school but in other people's houses. Summer football practice tells you it's done in school premises then you find out the kids are taken without parents permission at Valley Christian School to practice. I graduated from Andrew Hill in 2008 and I absolutely loved my time there. It does have a bad rep but it offers so many different opportunities to its students and its up to the students as well as the parents to take advantage of them and seek help if it is needed for their child. While there I became apart of the Biotechnology Academy which provided major support both in and outside the class room. I also took a medically terminology course one semester and participated in a summer college course in order to become a CNA which I work as part time while still going to college. Although the front office staff could use some restaffing in my opinion (my little brother goes there now and it is a pain in the ass to speak to someone other than a machine) the counselors were and still are amazing. read more

Overview Good school if you get to know the teachers, some are pretty nice, some are strict but mean well, 1/4 of the students are particularly engaged in learning, the others aren't. School quality (interior and exterior) The buildings are semi-clean, trash all over the floor, campus is not clean at all from all the students littering. Wallpaper and paint peel off, classrooms are rusty and dirty, air conditioning is about to fall on my head, and we don't even have enough funding to get new books, campus cleanups, and equipment (for science classes) Staffing Teachers make a hard first impression, once you get to know them throughout the year, they simmer down on the motivation and dedication. The office is just a wreck, they're not helpful except when you're either NOT GOING HOME, or HAVE A PARENT/GUARDIAN WITH YOU. Conversations with the office staff don't take any more than 30 seconds, it's basically "Get what you want, and leave." No diversity to staffing at all, minor experience with handling in some cases, and low energy personalities can be found. Conclusion Overall, it's a 3/5, not much experienced, all the experienced ones do is brag about their positions in the education industry. I'm self-taught, I look up what I don't know. Some teachers expect us to think the "Common Core" way. The truth is, and you have to live with it, all minds are NOT THE SAME. The staffs at this School are so horrible, and rude. The old lady never come to the counter and talk face to face at all, she just sit at her desk about 5 6 yards away and raise her voice like, " Can i help you?" This is a great school for mature students trying to succeed and who are self driven. Ignoring many of the sad, unmotivated, primadonna students attending the school, the programs offered like the Medical Magnet Program, Puente and ESPECIALLY IB program can really prepare students for college. Thanks to them, especially the IB program, college is cake. Unfortunately, these great qualities are often overlooked by both parents and students do to the surrounding neighborhood. It's also a good school to expose students to diversity (ethnically and economically). Do things right and you will come out academically,socially and ethnically competent; something a lot of people lack. read more
