The employees are very friendly and polite. The displays are lovely. The food is exactly the same as Safeway, just a much smaller selection. The produce section is minute. The store is fairly clean. The problem are the people who frequent it. The times I've run in, the customers act entitled, self-important, and rude. Today, I picked up kombucha and a man insisted he go ahead of me because had only a couple of items and was busy. He didn't give me an option. Soon, his wife loaded half a dozen things on the counter, then his daughter brought in more. He sent both of them off for other things--never acknowledging me and my bottle of kombucha. The same scenario played out at the next check stand. Pushy person jumping in and then adding more things. This is the standard. The store either attracts self-entitled pompous people or it brings out the worse in them. read more

I've loved this Andronico's since my high school days and I appreciate that the vibe has remained the same since: high quality and friendly. It might not have concerned me as much when I was teen, but as an adult, I've formed the habit of checking my store receipts after purchase. My mistake today was waiting until I got home instead of in my car - I blame the hunger... I was mischarged for purchasing two of an item when I only bought one and the loaf of bread was not on sale although the sale tag was still up. When I called, Shelby said no proof needed, just bring your receipt. When I got there, another manager, Johnny, assisted me. He went beyond refunding me the difference and gave me the waffles and bread free because I had to return to the store. I insisted it wasn't necessary and I was content with the difference (that's really all I came for), but he said that's the way he does things. Andronico's has always been a favorite and they'll continue to be for kind (and unexpected) deeds like this. read more

Andronico's is absolutely my favorite Market in the world! They have a fantastic deli , various brands of Challah bread and both organic and non-organic fruit and vegetables for your preferences. This store is always clean and neat. The cashiers are kind and great at packing bags. They have a huge choice of wonderful and unique and delicious prepared, foods and also very fresh (mostly store-baked) in-house bakery and breads and many unique things you can't find anywhere else. They have tons of scrumptious desserts, and sweets and treats, including store baked gourmet cookies and other sweet goodies! They also carry a large variety of organic foods and many interesting cartons of different ice creams, many sugar-free, but plenty sweet!!! I really enjoy the deli counter where I pick up several cartons of different types of delicious healthy items. including salads, sliced roast beef (the best!) poultry and fish and all kinds of scrumptious things! I always enjoy shopping at Andronico's! It is my favorite store and a real bonus is that they are open until 11 PM every day. The deli items cannot be accessed at that late hour, but everything else can.. Also, their prices are very, very good, particularly when you compare them to stores like Mollie Stone's! I would also like to comment that I really enjoy the staff. Andronico's is a gem. Every single staff member is super friendly and so willing to offer any help. The cashiers are fun and actually seem to enjoy their job. It's like a breath of fresh air every time I walk in the store. The store is clean, well organized and set up well. I love that I can find everything I am looking for at Andronico's. The deli is my jam. I often walk in on a Friday evening and grab a few hot items from the deli and they have all been great. I highly recommend the teriyaki grilled salmon, samosas, and the chicken empanadas when they have them. The cold veggie pasta salads are also so good. There is something for everyone in their deli. If you need a cake or have a sweet tooth then you need to stop at the Andronico's bakery asap. I can't even look at their options for fear that I will walk out with a princess cake. Yes, the prices are a tad high but for the quality of the products and the service, I will pay them. Andronico's makes having to go to the grocery less of a painful chore and actually something you look forward to! read more

Once again, I only write a rating if something is very good or very bad. Honestly, its a very convenient location. The staff here is incredible. But today, I came in this location looking to grab lunch from the hot bar while expecting a similar experience to the one on 32nd Ave in SF. The hot food bar here was terrible in comparison. I was honestly shocked, as I watched multiple flies land on food that looked as though it had been sitting out for hours to where all the moisture was gone. Even the soup part was in disarray. SF has a homeless problem, yet they manage to keep their hot bar in a presentable condition so if they can do it with all the problems over there, I don't see why this location isn't able to do the same. Luckily, there's a Safeway right around the corner with a hot bar that's more presentable. But I want to make it very clear that I would rather not have to make 2 stops. I hope management at this location takes this topic seriously. If not, just get rid of it. read more

When I was there today a tall man was stocking the dairy case and went way out his way to help me find some obscure items, and he did so warmly and kindly. Tons of issues here. I agree the disgusting people shopping here make it a miserable experience. Rude. Dirty looks.entitled and they are losers. Even the handicapped folk were treated bad by the rude customers bossy pushy and they hv nothing to do but go home and drink wine and they don't respect those who need time to check out while paying 100 bucks. They wont back up and everyone takes cuts in line. The staff is passive aggressive. I find 1 or 2 nice ones only. Food is almost expired. The misery of shopping with assholes makes it not worth the location. Sadly. Get a boundary throw out those yuppies or old cronies. Make your lines respectful people need time to pay you a ton of money. read more

This turned out to be the best market in the San Anselmo/Pt. Reyes area, four our purposes. It had a full service deli, bakery, salad bar and hot food steamer table. We were camping and staying in an Airbnb with limited cooking facilities, so this was a welcome option for us. I wish we had tried them first. read more

Ohhhh! I LOVE shopping at Andronico's in San Anselmo. Great parking, SUPER-nice staff, incredible deli - great selection of brands and varieties of canned and packaged foods... expansive and delicious deli! I recommend you get some roast beef sliced, and pick up some good rolls somewhere and enjoy some home-made deli sandwiches for yourself!! Their store-made guacamole is the best in the county and stays fresh after opening! It's medium-spicy - not too hot!! The only slight drawback is since they are owned by a large corporation sometimes the produce isn't as fresh as you might like, but it's certainly not bad. They have a very nice veggie section with both fresh and prepackaged items and you can buy organic vegetables as well upfront. There are many interesting foods there for sale on the shelves and I really enjoy walking up and down the aisles and trying something new that I never had before. I'm always happy with those results!! The staff at Andronico's is incredibly nice and very thoughtful about packaging your groceries. read more

He handed them a $10 the cashier asked for a penny and he didn't have one all he had was a $100 bill. She responded it's not my money and took his $100 and gave him back $99.99 ! I grew up going to Safeway, so that's kind of been my default market, but their meat and fish are so bad I decided to give Andronicos a try. What a difference! Unlike Safeway, EVERYTHING I ordered on Instacart was in stock, usually with Safeway 20 to 30% of things are out of stock. Their fresh coho salmon was out of this world! The things I like just as much as the old place * the folks in the meat department. * the folks in the cheese department * the folks in the vegetable and fruit department * the folks in the dairy * the folk in the wine department * and the folks at check out but I was expecting all that What I didn't expect was how much I like the physical plant... brighter, better display facilities, easier check out and pretty much better organized. And store management seems to be highly responsive to getting the right products for this particular market. A real class act. And the prices are a bit better as well. What's not to like? One of my favorite stores in Marin. When Safeway took it over I thought it might become like a Safeway, but they wisely left the character, for the most part, of the old store. Plus it now has the Safeway O Organics products. There are things here I haven't seen at other groceries, and the prices are fair, the produce is good, and the employees are helpful. They are quick to bring up more checkers if lines develop and there is always convenient parking. Well worth driving a bit farther than several closer stores to where we live. read more

Shop is passable as a normal grocery store, with a few notable exceptions that earn it one star from me. 1) despite the fact that the sandwich staff are very nice, they are really really slow. Took close to 20 minutes to make a basic sandwich when I was the only customer 2) (this is the big one) when I arrived today at about 8:45 they were closed. I have had this happen before. There normal closing time is 9, and that means that they should have been open for at least another ten minutes, if not fifteen. Tonight I actually made eye contact with an employee and tapped my wrist. Instead of letting me in, or explaining that they had a good reason to close early (again) he just hid behind a shelf. Clearly just didn't want to do his job. And look, I get it, it is tiring at the end of a long day working retail. I know because I also work retail. And if you beed to close early, post or explain why. If you don't it turns into a bit of a middle finger to the potential customer. closing that early that often doesn't cut it. And by necessity I will be shopping elsewhere. read more

I love Andronico's. In the pandemic it has become my go-to grocery store. Always easy to find healthy, interesting things to eat there. I really like the precooked items: chicken fajitas w/rice & beef fajitas w/rice & breakfast burritos & scalloped potatoes & the salmon w/lentils and spinach dinner . The produce section is very good. Feb 3, 2018. The Safeway-ization is now complete. Nice work Safeway. The wonderful variety of deli meats replaced exclusively with Boar's Head. No more real Italian Parma Prosciutto, only a sub-standard, bland, over-salted shadow of real Proscuitto by Boar's Head. A very good cheese department replaced with rows of the same thing without variety, most prepackaged Boar's Head cheese. When Safeway purchased Andronico's in 2017 (16?) it was still a good store. No longer. There is a full-sized Safeway 200 yards away. I'm baffled as to why they had to ruin this store. We'll all be eating solian green in 20 years...variety is stupid. Well done. read more

I started going there because of the close proximity to my house but I continue because it's got everything I need: xlnt hot prepared food, good deli and bakery, great produce dept and pleasant, helpful employees, especially john ray & tiffany. Been shopping here before it was purchased by Safeway. And continue to do so. Convenient, less crowds at check out, good wine selections. Anne in the wine section is helpful and very customer service oriented. Good guys in the meat dept. And a shout out to cashier, Jackson, who recently solved my payment problem with a creative "work around" solution. Some nice people working there, but the quality of the food is not that good. You only have one body, why not eat the highest quality food you can? Avoid all factory food. Organic comes in different quality grades. Select the best. Sure it's expensive, but so is the deductible on your first food caused disease. Why waste your time searching for organic food there, only to find it's outdated and overpriced, plus a lot of it is low quality USDA organic, when one could drive a mile down Center Boulevard and arrive at the finest organic store in America, The Good Earth, which sells locally grown California Certified Organics? The few organics that are sold at Safeway will be far fresher and cheaper at the Good Earth because of the turnover. Safeway is not an organic store, it is a conventional store with a few organics. Most of the other food is laden with preservatives, pesticide and weedkiller residues from the field and the money you spend there leaves town instead of staying in the community like at the Good Earth. By they way, the soup in the pictures has Andronico's labels on it. Is that a holdover, fraud, or did someone just not notice it? There is one problem with the Good Earth, it's so popular that sometimes it's hard to find parking next to the store. Avoid it on weekends. read more

OK -- clearly Safeway is paying a marketer to write the recent positive reviews. Look at the language: "positive contribution to the community", "I just love the selection" WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! the truth: This market is no different from the Andronicos that came before it. It looks the same, smells the same, has the same ridiculously high prices. Its the prices here that are offensive -- this store is Safeway cashing in on Marin County riches and figuring it can overcharge and dumb rich people will just pay it. Best way to talk about this is not broad sweeping subjective judgements, but to look at specific examples. - King Salmon: $32/lb while its $27 at Whole Foods. - Container of Casa Sanchez Salsa: $7.49!!!, it costs $5.60 at Good Earth, and only $5.40 across the street at.... SAFEWAY! - half gallon Clover Vanilla Ice cream: $9. - Five mini cupcakes: $11.50. - Bottle of Bogle petit Syrah $12.50, it costs $9.99 at SAFEWAY, across the street, or $7 at Trader Joes. Get the point? Your choice -- you can pin a $100 bill to your chest and walk through the Tenderloin at 3 a.m., or you can stop at Safeway Community Markets. read more

I still love this store. Witnessed a lady just making a fuss last week and taking apart several employees for "this and for that". It started in the deli department with the way her meat was handled, the way her meat was wrapped, the way her meat was sliced, etc....and she carried her complaints all the way through the check out line. The employees were so gracious and I felt so bad for them as nothing they seemed to do could please this visually and verbally unhappy customer. I witnessed it all and she, frankly, just seemed so miserable and was looking to take out her misery on everyone around her. She even tried to complain to me and I just ignored it, but employees had no good choice but to try and make things right for her. 5 stars for the employees in their attempts. They didn't deserve to be treated that way but I commend them for being polite. read more

I'm giving 5 stars for the bakery specifically. The baker, I think her name is Sheri, helped me get my son an awesome Avengers cake for his 3rd birthday, always says hi and is so nice to remember me! The cakes, cookies, and muffins are delicious...a nice remnant of Andronico's! Better than any other Safeway bakery around. I was also able to put fresh strawberry slices in the layer cake. I just went for the fourth time to the store and sat in a long line only to have a checker walk up and not say anything to anybody but stand in front of us at a register. Basically people that just walked up cut in front of everybody. The checker, Jackson, couldn't even bother to acknowledge anybody. I went to his line to get out of there quicker and he didn't even say hello, let me know how much the cost was or even look at me. Same thing for the two people in front of me, he couldn't even bother to say hello or look at them. Safeway has clearly changed from customer service to the absolute opposite of, you're just bothering me. Take an extra three minutes and spend a couple dollars more to go to Woodlands market to get proper service. read more

Safeway Community Market is not very vegan friendly. I was very disappointed that when I went to look for some vegan options like veggie burgers, they included eggs. They do have some vegan cheeses, but it is not a large selections. If they are really trying to establish a relationship with the community, they should appeal to every lifestyle in Marin, including vegans.Very sad to see what Andronicos has turned into... read more

Things I liked at Andronico's have disappeared. But now there is a big display of Fruity Pebbles and Count Chocula. There are many displays of brightly colored things and Monopoly games, but they are gradually phasing out local products. I do acknowledge that the staff they have kept is still helpful. Sure, it's easier to take a turn west if I just need to get a quart of milk, but who knows how long Safeway will continue stocking Strauss or even Clover?
