The Erewhon of Marin! I shop here from time to time, but the main reason I go to Woodlands is for their bakery, deli, and fresh produce. I especially love grabbing a fresh sourdough baguette (and sometimes a muffin or two!), and most of all, their roasted chicken. They also offer a variety of quick, last-minute lunch and dinner options that are definitely worth picking up. The store is very organized and super clean, and the staff is always quick and friendly at checkout. Although it's a pricey grocery store, it's nice to know that all their items are clean and healthy. read more

My review Is based on woodlands Holiday Thanksgiving meal offerings. My wife and I recently moved into Marin from out of state. Not knowing anyone in the area and living in a 2 bedroom apartment we decided to outsource thanksgiving to Woodlands Market in Kentfield. We had shopped a few times at Kentfield and were very pleased with our experience so figured this was the ideal place to try takeout Thanksgiving. The pickup process was very convenient, they had a tent outside with multiple people helping customers. They walked through the order list show each item on the order list to make sure there wasn't anything missing, also they helped load items into the car. They even had snacks to offer, they made the atmosphere for pickup very nice ! We did their small turkey and assorted sides with desert option as we wanted some left overs. We were very happy with our choice !!! The sides were packed in aluminum containers which made re-heating very easy, the turkey was pre cooked so just needed to reheat. They provided instructions on how to reheat everything. Only thing I would change was I would of foiled the turkey top 1/2 through the reheat. The funny thing is when I went to throw out the box that the meal came in there was 2 boxes in the dumpster from others in the same dumpster from the apartment complex. Clearly we weren't the only ones overall this was a great experience and am going to order through them for Christmas as well. read more

I'd like to thank Woodlands Market, for the amazing Pre-Made Filet mignon dinner that my guy surprised me with.. It was delicious. It came with 6 filets, that were easy to reheat and we're cooked perfectly. Scalloped potatoes, cut super fancy in a spiral shape..The asparagus was cooked, but crunchy enough to be warmed without ruining it..There was a Demi glaze and Cheesy Polenta, and a beautiful Beet salad, with pistachios and goat cheese..It was really good..I really thought he made it all himself..Thankyou for the help.. read more

This review is for the deli sandwiches / deli not the rest of the supermarket. Although, they have fantastic almond croissants and other great house made pastries as well and the self serve coffee that's quite rich and smooth. The market itself is cozy and clean and they have a pretty flower section. But tho most of the market is quite overpriced, they make fabulous sandwiches that are priced well (for these days) with quality products. I love their ciabatta bread which is from Acme Bread (my favorite bread bakers in the Bay Area) their produce is very fresh as well as their deli meats and you have a good selection as to what to pick you put in it. The guys at the deli counter are pretty nice too. They have a large selection of prepackaged deli stuff from sandwiches to heat at home foods. My daughter really likes their chicken quesadillas. I used to love the sandwiches from WF but since they got bought by amazon and since the pandemic, their sandwiches are not what they used to be, great rotisserie chkn tho. Today I was served a scorching latte--so hot it burned the entire inside of my mouth. I've truly never been handed a drink that boiling before. The biscuit breakfast sandwich is a personal favorite but is hard to snag. The sushi and deli sandwiches always hit the spot too. This store has zero quality standards for their products and should not be compared to Whole Foods. If you read the labels, Woodlands Market carries it all: GMOs, food coloring, additives, preservatives... everything that true natural food stores ban that justifies paying a premium for food. I have been disappointed by multiple mislabeling schemes used by the store (see photo of conventional avocados labeled as organic) and lack of industry knowledge from the staff relating to sourcing, standards, and store operations. If you want to shop at a store with quality products and ingredient standards, just go to Whole Foods. If you want to also support local producers and an independent retailer, go to Good Earth. read more

However, the hot bar here is a neighborhood highlight with several choices of mains depending on the day: roasted chicken, curries, turkey, meatballs, beef brisket stew...same with the sides: roasted vegetables, biriyani, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac n cheese. Not cuisine but decent fresh cafeteria cooking at $12.99/lb. The bakery does a great job on their pain d'épée. The cashiers are friendly for the most part, and there are hardly any lines. read more

A mostly very pleasant place to visit. I especially enjoy the area where their restaurant used to be. I loved that restaurant. I think Covid killed it. But now that area has a coffee wing and other cute spots. The coffee there is very strong and delectable. Can y'all say makeover? Woodlands in Kentfield went and got herself all glammed up! They had recently undergone a remodel and expanded the store into the space that was previously the Woodlands Cafe. The bakery occupies its own corner instead of sharing the dinky corner next to the deli, which now utilizes the previous display cases for large hunka hunka cold cuts - prosciutto anyone? Across from the bakery is the coffee bar, which offers coffee from good ol' Equator, a Marin favorite. Keep spinning yourself round round baby right round and you'll stumble across the ice cream bar, equipped with Strauss (only the good stuff) soft serve and a smorgasbord of toppings - all at $0.89 per ounce. Make your way across to the carbohydrate bar (my own personal name) filled with bagels and donuts of all flavors along with shmears in between. The middle of the space holds shelves of cookies, pastries, and everything sweet and savory that your fatkid desires. Unfortunately, I came with empty pockets so I couldn't actually try any of their delicacies, but I'm excited to return and give that soft serve a swirl (see what I did there?)! Woodlands has steadily improved on an already great market. The newly remodeled floors and counters, especially the fresh meat/seafood section, is really beautiful. They offer a great selection of fish and steaks and specialty items. The expanded Japanese/ sushi section is great. The single biggest improvement is the new salad and hot prepared food self-serve section. You can mix and match as you want. The selection is quite varied, including bbq pork, fried chicken, Asian dishes, Mac n cheese, etc - it changes every day. All are delicious. The service and ambiance throughout is great - everyone is so friendly and helpful. I can't say enough good things about Woodlands. I've been coming here for over 20 years, and this latest upgrade is the best it's been. We're so fortunate to have this gem in the neighborhood. Highly recommended! read more

What a fantastic shopping experience! Yes, it is expensive but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. This is my third shopping trip. Excellent prepared salads to go. Thèse guys do not know how to make a decent potato salad. Last time I tried it had way too much mayo and smelled like fish...ugh! Time before last it was filled with bacon and there was no description that bacon was an ingredient...we had to throw away all $20+ of salad. Two weekends ago, I visited the Tiburon Woodlands market and the Deli messed up on my hubby's sandwich. The manager reached out and sent me a gift card to try out Woodlands again. I came today to the Kentfield location before my trip to Muir Woods. We both got sandwiches again. I had the same one, the honey ham and my hubby ordered the generic chicken club listed on the board (afraid they would mess up on his again! you cant mess up a generic one?!?). Both sandwiches were good and made with care this time. I do enjoy that they put a small wrapped dark chocolate as a desert inside your sandwich! The one thing I would like to mention here is the check out line is fenced off by a metal bar. Anyone larger would not be able to fit through. I'm a little chubby in my belly (I love to eat!) but nowhere near large size and it was quite crowded for me. Your face is nearly on the plastic that's put between you and the cashier. Not much space to move. Just FYI. Some people might think it's discrimination anyone larger would not be able to fit through the line. read more

So here I am again at the Deli, and... nothing has changed since my last review. 10:45 in the morning, 3 of us waiting to be served. And waiting, and waiting. And waiting politely. Not one of the 7 people working behind the counter made eye contact with any of us, let alone speaking to us. I could not believe it. The new Deli management is absolutely non-existent. To make a braised lamb dish for a special guest, last Thursday we bought lamb at the Woodlands Market. The three lamb shanks came in cryovac packages rather than in an open tray In the meat counter. The brand was Superior Farms. We made the dish very carefully, and found it distressingly lacking in flavor when we served it Sunday night. I would not buy this lamb again. Then yesterday, when shopping at United, our usual market, we saw the very same lamb shanks from the same grower, Superior Farms, priced at $4 per pound LESS than what we paid at Woodlands! So bottom line: at Woodlands Market, you pay extra, but don't get extra value. Why do I ever shop there? I am inevitably disappointed and frustrated. read more

I've been comin to woodlands for 20 years. It's a great store in a lot of ways, but disappointing in others, esp for the price. The new sushi bar is surprisingly excellent, and the produce and overall selection is great. The bakery and deli are not good at all though, which is a shame because the sandwiches at least used to be quite fresh and delicious. The quality of the ingredients has gone down a lot though, it's definitely noticeable. I hope they invest more in the deli and bakery, like they did with the sushi, because I do love this place, the people who work there are lovely too, and I'd love to give it 5 stars. read more

Absolutely criminal how expensive this place is. I get that many people in the Kentfield area have so much money that they don't even look at prices and there's no other supermarket in the area after Lucky closed in Larkspur. But there's no excuse for some of the prices they charge Progresso Soup for $7.29 (2 for $7 at Safeway or 8 for $15 at Costco) made me audibly break out laughing in the store last night when I HAD to go in to get something for my grandmother All I can say is I sure hope the employees are being paid extremely well because they are wonderful and they deserve it and hopefully it's not just going into the owner's pockets read more

The new cafe is nice but oh- boy - the employees there were so unfriendly. We all have/ are experiencing a staff shortage, things are hard these days. Nevertheless, it was sad being there and feeling like I was truly "bothering " someone.
