I'm a huge fan of Andy's as their custard is so good. They have plenty of fun topping for everyone in the family and they even have pup cups. I enjoy their seasonal flavors too. I feel this is a good way to keep customers coming back for more. Now this location in Kirkwood, I came on a Thursday night and it was packed. This location is a lot smaller than the Ballwin so I was a bit confused with the drive thru as the space was so tight. I came in from Kirkwood Rd but for easier access to the drive thru, they want you to enter from the best street (which I want aware) as the drive thru curves. Lucky the line wasn't busy as I was able to get thru ok. The staff was outside taking orders and they were so friendly. Looks like someone was in training as there were 2 people. Both staff members were just so pleasant and engaging. After placing my order, I proceeded to checkout and collect my items. The cashier was not as friendly as the other 2 but whatever. Since both locations are the same distance from me (Ballwin), I likely wouldn't return to this location due to the size but I would have my teens come here with friends as it seems to be a nice hangout spot for them. read more

Ok I just came back from having a root canal and a filling(double ouch) and I drive down the street and I saw this place. I'm not sure if I should have this Pending the reason why I went to the dentist but I couldn't resist. I literally driver around three times to decide what I want and also see if my mom wanted something. Got the jackhammer with caramel inside on both and for my mom caramel around and crushed peanuts on top. I got hot fudge around mine. True a bit pricey but I figured it had to be good. Unfortunately on the drive home through traffic the goodness melted so a photo oopppp was not going to happen. I did have a go at mine and it was pretty darn yummy. Although I believe Ted Drewes has the best Frozen Custard in the Midwest, if I had to compare these two, Ted Drewes would be 1a and Andy's 1b. That's how close it is. The custard here is amazing. One thing I love is how certain flavors change based on the season. Spring-time you will see items such as strawberry shortcake or blueberry; summer flavors like key lime pie or peach; and November eggnog/apple pie. It's October so they had the pumpkin pie concrete available. Although I prefer sweet potato pie over pumpkin, I can't deny this pumpkin-pie concrete was so good. The pumpkin flavor is very light and the pieces of pie crust inside adds great texture balance to the smoothness of the custard (see photos below). Also, if you've never tried the turtle concrete before then Andy's is the perfect place. Some places add too much caramel or not enough chocolate, but Andy's blends together the three ingredients perfectly. I would highly recommend trying Andy's Frozen Custard if you're in the area and remember that drive-thru ordering is available. read more

Custard's Last Stand! Perhaps all of Yelp knows that I am a fan of frozen custard, but some custard is better than others. Andy's Frozen Custard falls somewhere in the middle. Don't get me wrong. I've enjoyed Andy's work for years. I went to Missouri State in Springfield, MO, a college campus surrounded by Andy's locations. Leaving campus for a frozen treat was a luxury, something we friends always looked forward to. However, this ain't college, and we are in the big city. Andy's recently moved into Ted Drewe's country, and Ted Drewe's it is not! However, the location is ideal for the Missouri franchise, deep in the heart of rich, white suburbia. Not much chance that this location will fail! And the location reflects the prices. Andy's Kirkwood location is expensive for frozen custard. Tonight I had a small specialty concrete, The James Brown Jackhammer, and it was over five dollars! It was sizable, but I guess that I'm used to going down to Chippewa St and never spending over five dollars for healthily portioned dessert. The quality of the custard is good, and the menu offers so many delights that it's hard not to enjoy something. My concrete was pretty awesome. I won't lie. Came here with a big group and got to try a lot of their things, such as the thin mints frozen custard, the chocolate jackhammer, rootbeer float, etc. I honestly think they mix their custard better than ted drews; it is firmer. But honestly they are both really good so if you live close to Andy's and far from Ted Drews, give this place a shot and avoid the long drive!
