Silky's frozen custard really hit the spot! We stopped by the drive thru on a rainy chilly winter day. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered a sundae with caramel and mixed nuts. I chose a sundae instead of concrete cause I wanted to taste the caramel a bit more. My only request would be that they put some caramel sauce on the bottom of the bowl before the ice cream. That would really take it to the next level. All in all, I'll be back the next time I'm in town! read more

TLDR: Silky's is delicious! I hadn't had Silky's in quite a while and we needed ice cream after a disappointing dinner. I got the Hawaiian concrete and ice cream loving friend got a hot fudge sundae. We haven't been to Silky's in a year however, they have the best concretes around, including Ted Drews (which we do not think deserves all the hype). We usually share their Turtle Concrete, and get extra pecans. So Yummy! they are a 15/10 for us! read more

This was the best custard we have ever tried. We aren't usually custard fans, but at the advice of one of our kids we gave it a try. As I said, we haven't been fans of custard, but this was a game changer. And the buttered pecans I had on my chocolate sundae were amazing. We would definitely go there again. Silkys has been my favorite frozen custard spot for as long as I can remember. It's close to where I live, and location is important when it comes to custard. My go-to is always the cappuccino chip concrete. The custard is so smooth, the cappuccino flavor is perfect and the chocolate chips are the best here. They are square and super crunchy but melt as you chew them. YUM. The grasshopper is also one of my favorite flavors! Service is always great. The employees are friendly and cheerful! And your sweet treat is ready in no time! read more

Avoid silkys if you have any type of allergy!!!!!! Went on 3/29 to get (2) milkshakes & this time was scary & horrible. Ordered the same (2) I get almost every week & ordered them w a nut allergy, like I always do - as my boyfriend has a nut allergy to all nuts. They insist every single time that they can't guarantee anything but this time I did NOT get that disclosure. After I suggested my milkshakes had nut allergies, he asked me "you said 2 milkshakes right?" "you want them in bag?" & gave me my total. I paid & took them home & immediately my boyfriend noticed something was off. Instead of getting his gooey butter cake milkshake, he got a peanut butter/reeses (unsure which to be exact) milkshake. Instantly, his throat became scratchy & his tongue became tingly. I took a drink & immediately knew this was not his shake. NOT ONLY does my receipt show the (2) NOT peanut or nut or peanut butter milkshakes, it says "see chashier!" for the indication of the nut allergy. After having him to take 50mg of Benadryl, I called the store to complain - as this can be extremely, extremely dangerous. My conversation was appalling. I called & asked for the manager & he said it was him who answered. I explained to him my order & how I ordered my milkshakes with nut allergies and that I was reading from my receipt. I explained that I only got 1 of my milkshakes & the other was a peanut butter or something milkshake and the person we ordered it for drank it & has a nut allergy. He said explicitly that he remembers the order. He said he doesn't know if the buttons of gooey butter cake & peanut butter are next to eachother or not but he remembers them being nut allergy - even though my receipt was correct... He claims he watched them clean the blades but then apparently they still made the peanut butter flavored milkshake. He said he was sorry that the person was having a reaction & he can appreciate the cost of epipens... and he could not refund me but give me a credit and I could email the owner. I told him that it's not just reactions but this could be dangerous cuz people could die. He showed extreme lack of empathy and severe lack of customer service/satisfaction. After I continued to explain the danger here, I told him maybe if they can't do their due diligence when we do ask, they can just tell us they can't serve someone with nut allergies. He told me "we aren't going to change our policy. There's nuts all over," I told him I didn't expect them to change their policy but find it odd that they won't just tell us they can't serve us - likely cuz they actually don't care at all & only want your money. He then stopped me and told me he wasn't going to listen to me vent but that he documented my name and number for a "credit" and that I could email the owner. When I told him I would email them, I said "I'm sorry, what was your name again?" & he said "he doesn't give his name out" despite answering the call with his name. I asked "even though you're the store manager?" & he said "yes" & that he wouldn't give it to me & asked if the call could end. I will be emailing the owner & reporting them to the health department but please be extra mindful of this stuff. Chances are very high that if we had a different experience with the STORE MANAGER & his ability to actually serve, I wouldn't be writing this. He is the reason we won't be going back & neither will my family/friends read more

Silky's is your great neighborhood custard spot. The last handful of times I have gone with the Muddy Sneakers concrete. The custard is just really creamy and the additions in the concrete are blended up just right. The Reeces are not too fine and not too bulky when they are added to the concrete. This is one of my favorite custard stands in the area. If you want to mix it up from the classic Ted Drewes concrete this is the place to go. I've even heard folks say it is better than Ted Drewes. I will continue to visit Silky's year round, it is good any time of the year. read more

My wife and I had been to Silky's over on olive years ago and we liked it. This trip, this was I think the first time in my life that I didn't like ice cream/custard, any brand anywhere. I didn't think I could find a frozen desert I wouldn't like. I'm not sure why, but this was the worst custard I have ever had. Very surprised and sad about this. Our son used to love to go to Silky's after little league. The flavor was just wrong, strange. And their apple with Carmel with the raw unpeeled apple slices just didn't work. I get the idea, but not for me. The other was just nuts and still didn't taste good. We just tonight, 2 weeks later, went to Sheridan's, sooooo much better.. I think I would take schnuck's store brand vanilla over what we got at Silky's that night. Very dissapointed, won't be going back there. Sorry Silky's. read more

Couldn't help it tonight. The drive-through is incredible. I got two large concretes ($10.01): hot fudge and hot fudge-strawberry. In a bag with straws, napkins and spoons. If I keep goin' there, they're gonna know me. Home with the goods. I always taste each one . . . just a spoonful, to make sure they're OK. Then off to the freezer. Both were delightful. And they may last a little bit more than two weeks this time. Dang, it's good stuff. read more

Grabbed an Elvis Pretzely concrete last night with my hubby, who had a chocolate chip cookie dough. Nothing like frozen custard on a chilly 46 degree night - ha! The Elvis Pretzely is quite yummy - much more caramel-y than chocolate which was sort of a bummer, but still delish! My husband was disappointed to find (after we left) that his concrete was chocolate chip and not so much +cookie dough. Guess the high schoolers managing the windows weren't quite reading the tickets. Overall, a good spot, but we're more likely to drive the other direction and hit Fritz's. read more

After a night of mini golf and batting cages at The Infield, I recalled a vague memory that Silky's actually made a decent light ice-cream. Now my long-term memory is pretty poor, but I was impressed that for once, I was right! They also churn out my long-time favorite (the turtle) and something called an Elvis Pretzely, with pretzels (duh), vanilla ice-cream, chocolate sauce, and caramel. I just ordered a wimpy cone, but their light ice-cream rocks! My friend got an oreo concrete, which was also very good. Another thing I like about this place is that they have a drive-through if you're feeling lazy. The only drawback is the distinct lack of table seating (i.e. none). Most people manage pretty well though on the hoods of their cars, or sadly, the curb. read more

I remember when this place was called Lix! Same custard, but different name. My parents love this place, so most times that I'm home, we check it out and get some cones and concretes. If I get a concrete, I will usually get a turtle or have oreos mixed in. I'm not a fan of getting 'plain' things, but I really don't mind getting a vanilla custard cone. The custard is just that good. I don't think there is anything on the menu that I would advise against getting. The lines are never long, and the food is always fixed quickly. Silky's is exactly like it sounds, silky, delicious, creamy, delightfully good custard. I can not rave about this place enough, I crave it all the time, but for reasons of eating too many sweets, I have had to train myself to control my chocolate cone cravings. My go to are the chocolate cone, size small or the strawberry concrete, size small. The smalls are pretty big in size so it's the best bang for your buck in my opinion. The chocolate cone is the perfect chocolate flavor with silky smoothness. The strawberry concrete is fresh strawberries with vanilla custard spun together for an amazing, and refreshing treat! I have been coming here for years and we love to go up to the window, order and then sit with the back of the car open and enjoy the weather while indulging in our favorite custard. I reminisce every time I go about the many after ball game evenings spent with friends and family there. They also have a drive thru which has been my down fall because whenever I'm out this way, I run through and grab my favorites. Sometimes I am thankful it's a far drive from my home otherwise I would go every single day. Also, another all time favorite of mine, that requires having multiple sweet teeth, is the Turtle. If you like nuts, chocolate, caramel and custard, you will be in heaven. If you haven't had the chance to this place out, it's a must try. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed! read more

I've been going to Silky's my entire life, and unfortunately today I had a negative experience for the first time. First of all, I was not given or offered a receipt. No biggie, sure, but definitely not preferred. What was more disappointing, however, was the lack of whipped cream on one of the shakes in my order. I was not expecting this, given we were pretty clear with the guy on the intercom about how much whipped cream we wanted, to which he happily replied, "sure thing!," so the sad shake received at the window was a real bummer, not enough to send back though. Furthermore, I was disappointed that I wasn't given an option of "to-go," especially since I came through the drive thru. I am typically given my order in a bag with lids on each items, spoons, and napkins. This brings me to my next upsetting moment. I wasn't given any napkins! Imagine me, trying to drive and eat a turtle sundae since it had no lid or bag and was too large to fit in my cup holder. Caramel and fudge dripping down my chin, me wiping it from my chin with the back of my hand, a sticky mess! Heartbreaking, really. Still 5 stars for dankness tho. read more

This is my favorite custard place in STL. I moved in not far from here. And I probably get custard from here like once a week !!! I love it so much. They're snowberry hill custard is amazing. Or another one of my favorite is chocolate custard with peanut butter and Oreos !! Definitely recommend this place to anyone. Stopped by after a long day at the pool. It was really good custard. I think maybe next time I need to define whether I want a sundae, concrete, or cone.
