This is a great Andy's location. Easily accessible right off Rand Road. The parking lot is a decent size, but there's a small downside parking. If you're parked along the drive-thru line, it can be hard to get out of the spot with all the cars lined up behind you. Most of the time people are decent letting me back out of my spot, but there's always a few cars who just won't leave an opening. Service is always super fast, no matter how many people are in line or waiting. There's a few benches so seating so you eat there. It's always brightly lit too. I've been there with a long drive thru line where cars are backed up on Rand Rd., but don't let that deter you from going- the car line moves super fast! Just pull up the menu while you wait so you know what you want when an employee walks up to your car to take your order. Speaking of the employees taking your order - they are all super friendly, they have a smile no matter how hot or cold it is outside, and they're so patient waiting for everyone to order. I think they must have a kindness, happy, friendly detector because this Andy's has all the nicest people working here. Even the people at the window and walk up! You see them working it together in harmony inside as they make each order. It is an impressive team, no matter what time of the day we go and how busy it gets! They work like really like their job AND each other (I'm kinda jealous!) The frozen custard is so smooth and creamy. It's perfectly flavored, we get the vanilla and have tried the chocolate which is decently chocolatey! They don't skimp on the toppings either. If anything, hubs says there's sometimes not enough ice cream to balance the amount of toppings. Service is excellent. Frozen custard is excellent. Wait time is great. They helped me provide sweet treats to the entire marching band and then a second time to the entire marching band + the surrounding middle school musicians! The individually packed cups traveled well for pickup. The vanilla custard was a hit with the kids. We also offered their Zarlengo's Italian Ice as an alternative and both the lemon and strawberry were delicious! I really appreciated that the ingredients were minimal and allergy friendly. This location has horrible customer service and they don't care that customers are paying over $15.00 for custard that is lately been subpar. Andy's corporate, do better on training your employees in customer service and for goodness sake train them on making a one topping child's sundae. Depending on where you park you can get blocked in by the drive thru lane. They don't have seating. It is a walk-up order counter. I like the fact that they had heaters in the standing area to help keep you semi warm. There's a lot of different options for mix ins on their menu ranging from sweet to savory. I decided to go with a small concrete butter pecan. The custard is very creamy and it's cool to see it being freshly made. The quality of the pecans really made the concrete. I thought it was fun to create a concrete, though the staff messed mine up and honestly didn't put too many toppings in so it was mostly custard. Andy's is pretty good, and besides Culver's probably the largest chain but it focuses solely on custard, without any other food items. There are your typical sundaes, jackhammers, concretes, etc., and you can do a build your own (BYO) of any of them. Download their app to check-in (after you check-in on Yelp, of course!) and you'll gain points that will eventually turn in to cash back on purchases and stuff. I've only tasted a few, and usually get the straw-anna, since I love strawberry and banana. The Texas Two-Step is jackhammer with fudge and strawberry and it's also delicious-yum-yum. Glad I made the trek out here, given the Evanston location doesn't exist anymore. Staff was really friendly, ice cream through the drive through was made fast, and the ingredients were pretty fresh. Only suggestion is I would have the staff member who takes the drive through orders stand closer to the cash register, versus the entrance to the drive through. I love Andy's! I live close to the Mt. Prospect location in Arlington Heights, and it doesn't matter what season it is, I will still want Andy's frozen custard. This location, is set up really well! There is a drive thru or you can walk up to an outside counter. It should be known there is no where to go inside this location, but that really doesn't make a difference to me. Their drive thru is really organized and well set up. They will have sometimes several employees taking care of the line "Portillo's drive thru style" to help keep things moving. I love getting a concrete and choosing my own toppings. Some of my favorite combinations are caramel, roasted pecan, and peanut, or espresso, Reese's pieces, & peanut!
