My husband and I visited the Covered Bridge Creamery on our last trip to Long Grove. It was a bit chilly outside, so instead of getting ice cream, we decided to try the giant chocolate chip cookie and the apple cider donut. The chocolate chip cookies really are humongous. I was happily surprised that their taste matched the size. It was really good with lots of chocolate chips. It is important to get the basics right and they did here. The apple cider donut is made fresh at another store in town. It tasted fresh and was light, not the dense donut texture that I was expecting. It was very sugary and rich in apple flavor. I can't wait to come back this summer and try some of their ice cream, when the weather is right. The seating area is decorated very nicely with many pictures from around the downtown. This place serves up delicious Chocolate Shoppe ice cream which is less common to find the Chicago suburbs -- but always a delicious treat when you find it served. Prices are in line with the area on ice cream and other sweet treats, and service is quick and friendly. Never disappoints. Located in downtown long grove in the old Gloria jeans location. Few seats inside if you do not want to sit outside. Will be totally honest, came here with our son thinking this would be just another average ice cream shop with average flavors that you can get anywhere. I was so pleasantly surprised! They have some very creative flavor options here. Not only that, the ice cream was soooooo good. Great flavor, very creamy, and good textural elements (soo important when it comes to loaded flavors that have nuts, cookies etc..) At least in our non scientific ice cream expertise. My first time here and I asked them what flavors they would recommend. They said strawberry and kitty kat (cheesecake) flavors. I was like "Strawberry?!" Such a original flavor and I was expecting something different or unique. I had samples of both (yes, you can sample their flavors!) and the strawberry was REALLY good. I got the junior scoop size in a cup and they give you a lot for $2.50. The strawberry flavored ice cream was so smooth and creamy and not too sweet either. Such a cute ice cream and coffee shop and definitely a hidden gem on the strip! I wish there were cute places like this close to my house because I love small local businesses. The workers here all seem like they love their jobs, and when I came here, it was so busy, but it was probably because Long Grove's Apple Fest was going on when I came. In front of us in line, there was a family with three young kids. The young Male worker went from behind the counter and gave them free samples so that they can choose what they wanted. He was very patient and kind to them. My family and I didn't order ice cream, but their coffee is amazing. I ordered the Pumpkin Pie latte and my mom ordered a cold brew. My mom learned she didn't really like cold brew in general that day, but I tried it because I love cold brew, and I loved it! Their coffee is fresh quality, and it was nice to have something other than Starbucks or Dunkin. They had delicious looking donuts on display, as well! Ine was bacon jalapeno and it looked awesome, so next time I come here, I need to assure I don't eat before coming so I can try that! read more

We drive WAYYYYY out of our way to get an ice cream treat on a hot and muggy Saturday. Cute little shop nestled in Long Grove's downtown area. Charming outdoor seating all over. Sweet employees, but isn't everyone sweet in Long Grove?! How could you not be? I had a cone with two scoops - a coconut flavor with choc chunks and almonds, which was superb, and the chocolatiest chocolate I ever did eat. It was dark and tasted like the coldest, creamiest version of a thick, moist, chunky fudge brownie slathered in ganache. I was in the Long Grove area trying out another restaurant. I had heard from some other patrons about a really great ice cream place that was around the corner from where we were eating. The name of this ice cream parlor was Covered Bridge Creamery in Long Grove. This adorable ice cream shop can easily be missed. The ice cream shop is tucked away amongst other businesses on the same strip of Old McHenry Road. The moment that you walk into this small ice cream shop you feel like you're somewhere special. The worker who was there for the day that we visited was extremely friendly and looked like she enjoyed her job. They specialize in crazy flavored ice cream with hilarious names. I tried their ice cream flavor called "Kitty Kitty Bang Bang" and my wife had a scoop of their ice cream called the "Fat Elvis". The ice cream was super delicious. The flavor had chocolate chunks and cheesecake with sweet raspberry ripple and oreo pieces. My wife's ice cream, the "Fat Elvis", had banana and vanilla ice cream among other flavors. She really thought it was very good. They also specialize in milkshakes and other desserts. I have seen that they also carry a variety of donuts, especially the famous apple donut of Long Grove while supplies last. The day that we visited was extremely hot. They do have ample seating to sit outside. I chose to sit inside by their elevated area with two tables. I will definitely be returning to try out their shakes in their other wild flavors. read more

Where else do you come on National Ice Cream day than the #1 Ice Cream Parlor in the state of Illinois! Our first visit but not our last! The ice cream flavor options were good, they had fun flavors like Lemon Meringue, Peanut Butter Cookie Dough, and "This $&@! Just Got Serious" (salted caramel ice cream with sea salt fudge and salted cashews). Both of the flavors I had were phenomenal! The ice cream is fresh, creamy, and bursting with flavor! I'm honestly wishing I had more as I type this... SO. GOOD. My only reason for not providing a 5 star rating is due to how long it took to get our ice cream. I mean, we were the only people in the place and the staff was moving like sloths and were generally just unenthusiastic, strange when you work at the #1 Ice Cream Parlor in the state-I would think that's something to be excited about! My kids all had cotton candy ice cream and they loved it. The place is super charming and the gentlemen that helped us was very pleasant. A properly made tea (time and temp) and also a legit espresso out of a very high end machine. Adorable little ice cream and coffee shop in Downtown Long Grove. While the ice cream isn't homemade in the shop, whatever brand it is that they use is great, very unique, fun flavors (and normal ones too), tastes fresh and totally worth the splurge :) The portions are very generous, and the staff is very friendly - they clearly care about who they hire and ensure they have a great personality to make guests feel welcome. They have a fair amount of indoor seating, but I like the outdoor area when it's nice out. They have lots of tables and chairs and a cute gazebo to sit in. Highly recommend following them on social media, they have specials and they do a fun promotion where each day they have a name on their sign, and if it's your name, you get a free scoop. Talk to the staff in person or interact on social media, and they might use your name in the future. They also have a full coffee bar and other treats but I haven't tried them yet. They've also been organizing group runs, which I think is an awesome idea and I'd love to join sometime, too. They clearly want to be a positive force for the community. Not only was the ice cream delicious but the customer service was outstanding. Unbeknownst to me the owners saw me and secretly told their employees since I waited for some time, to give me a very generous complimentary treat. My husband and I came here for a date night coffee. I'm so happy we stopped -- I didn't even know this place existed. Definitely a fan of this place!! I love when there's a new place in town that is both unique and delicious. We came here a few times and always receive awesome service! The people working here are so nice and polite and always give samples if there's something new you want to try! My favorite so far is their very dark chocolate flavor as well as the salted Carmel with cashews! I absolutely love the this shit just got real flavor but my only suggestion is to make the same exact flavor without the nuts and just add more chocolate pieces for those with nut allergies because that flavor is just epic in itself. My girls love going and always trying a new flavor as there are simple flavors as well like vanilla and strawberry but I always encourage them to get something more unique. They had one that was a cheesecake flavor with raspberry swirl and dark chocolate bits, they gobbled it right up! I love the outdoor seating especially in the summer time, sitting outside by the gazebo and weekends they have music as well. I'd like to come in the winter time and hopefully they have hot chocolate because that would be awesome to have by the gazebo as well.
