Haven't seen a Michoacana since I was in Mexico and I found one in Chicago while visiting town!!!! I loved it!! I had their "Fresas con Crema", "Mangonada", and a couple pop cycles (mango con chile and Chocolate Abuelita) they were soooooo delicious! I have to come back in town to get some more ice cream. Me encantó! Se los recomiendo!

First time coming to this location. They had 3 ladies working here that were nice. But I gotta say everyone who comes here order a lot. It took me 20min to get my order in. Guess there are lots of things to choose from and everyone trying to eat everything. I got 2 popsicles (Oreo and raspberry), and my boyfriend got a mocha shake and a pina colada yogurt/ smoothie. I've never tried anything else other than the popsicles. But I gotta say, if you are feeling a shake or yogurt and happen to see a La Michoacana, stop by and grab one from here. Other than drinks and popsicles, they have ice cream, chips, and actual food. So even if you not feeling dessert or sweet things, they have a wide selection of sweet and savory foods to choose from. I would definitely come back again, but not sure if I'm tight on time.

I love this place!! If I could, I would go here everyday! :D I expected a small ice cream shop with a small random assortment of popsicles but it's a BIG ice cream shop with LOTS of random assortments of everything. They have paletas (popsicles?), smoothies, milkshakes, and best of all, ELOTES. I found it super random that they sell this but it's one of the best I've had. I love that they are so generous with the portions compared to other places. I highly recommend their ferrero rocher paleta. It's the most chocolate-y, most amazing thing ever. I've tried their avocado and pistachio which are also very good. Don't forget their elote! Must get it with everything (mayo, cheese and don't forget the chili powder--make it's super spicy but so good!) It takes awhile to decide what to get bc of the variety of options but this place is seriously the best!

i had been craving a mangonada for months since i left mexico and got my fill. They also have soo many flavors of paletas including mangonada and coconut.

Always love La Michoacana, they have an infinite amount of different kinds of Mexican ice scream and other snacks. This place was supper busy but they took care of is kind of fast. This time we had a banana split to share. It was big enough to share.

Note: there are actually two different La Michoacana's in Chicago and greater Chicago area. There is a La Michoacana with a logo that has a girl and says "Es Natural" on it (this location), and a La Michoacana with that doesn't have this logo (like Prospect Heights location). The ones with the "Es Natural" logos are significantly better and give bigger portion sizes compared to the others. This franchise is underrated. I'm a huge fan of ice cream shops in and around Chicago but yesterday was the first time I heard about this place. At first, I thought this was the only location, but I was wrong. They are ALL over Chicago and the greater area, and they might actually have more locations then Oberweis. $3.80 for a big cone with 3-4 scoops. The ice cream is delicious. I got the oreo flavor and they have HUGE chunks of oreos in there. They have oreo bar ice creams too and all sorts of fruit bars. My friend got the ferreo rocher (however you spell it) and he loved it. At Baskin Robbins, you get two small scoops for about $4. So I will probably never go to BR again. The crazy part is, they seem to be famous for the other things they offer. I don't know the names of them as they label everything in spanish but they look good! The line was very long when we came and there is barely any dining space. So we ate in our car. The line does move a little slower then other ice cream shops I've been too, but then again, some people had pretty big orders. I'm a huge fan, will probably start exploring other locations. (FYI: there is one in Edgewater, Pilsen, and Des Plaines)

We recently diverged from our usuals and tried the sando with pork katsu. It had some shredded vegetable and ketchup-base sauce. I am indifferent to it but I am not opposed to trying the other savory items. We have gone on different days and times over the years. The shelves are almost always well-stocked. Sometimes we would have a brief wait for them to replenish the raisin bread loaves but it is the mister's favorite so it is worth it. This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.

We shared waffle sticks -- one loaded with Kinder Bueno and the other drenched in Nutella -- both absolutely dripping in chocolatey goodness.
