I was drawn in by the limited time Gooey Butter Cake special and chose to consume it in the "concrete" or blended treat form. I added the roasted pecans. Absolutely delicious. Glad I read the menu ahead of time and before going in as the drive-thru had a very long line and after I finally placed my order after waiting about 5 minutes the inside was forming a line too as only one or two registers were open. There seemed to be a lot of young teenagers and young adults working but still a bit miss managed. One of the times in my order was made in the wrong size, and they had to start again but tried to be quick about fixing it. Once we got our concretes and jackhammer, we went back to our car to eat them. They were both made very well and were yummy. My expectations for this custard place may have been too high, but it earns a 3 star rating from me. This location is in a strip mall at a very busy intersection, so unless you're taking your ice cream to go, it's not really pleasant to sit outside with all of the traffic and inside just has benches. It seems like they do most of their business in the drive thru. I wanted the custard itself to be creamier. It was average quality and definitely does not compare to small local spots where I've had custard. They do have a lot of toppings to choose from, and they had seasonal treats. I tried the pumpkin pie concrete and was pleasantly surprised by the cinnamon flavor. I also had a bit of the cookie dough topping, which I do not recommend. If you download the app, you earn a free small concrete for your next visit. You can watch the custard coming out of the machine, which is a highlight for the kids. I got charged for the banana added to my snowmonster and there wasn't even strawberrys in the snowmonster. Andy's is always tasty. This one is right on Cicero so if you're coming into town from Oak Lawn you'll pass right by. It's about 15 minutes south of Midway on Cicero. There's another restaurant near, in the same parking lot, and both lines can get long so could be a bit confusing at times I suppose! Andy's lists their menu a bit away from their order window, but they don't have a menu board with a speaker--you have to make your order at the window. In particularly busy times, they do a thing similar to Portillo's where you can make your order whilst in line with an employee who's going from car to car. We just visited Andy's this evening and they are usually our go to ice cream place. I ordered a reg PB sundae w/extra PB, hubby ordered a large vanilla malt and teenage son ordered a large strawberry/banana sundae. When we received our food, we noticed that the portions appeared to be much smaller. My husband's malt was filled 3/4 of the way, my sundae appeared to be a child's sundae w/o the extra PB and my son's sundae didn't appear to be a large. We live about 7 min from Andy's and our son had finished his sundae within minutes before we arrived home. For the price we paid, we felt the portions should be what we ordered and if they are reducing portions then they should reduce the prices. We will try Andy's one more time, maybe a different location, and if portions don't appear what they should be we will unfortunately no longer go to Andy's. read more

I have been craving Andy's for 2 weeks. I decided to go and sit in the line until it was my turn, lol. I ordered a large hot fudge sundae half chocolate half vanilla custard with 3x the pecans (told the employee to charge me for the extra so I would actually get extra) and easy hot fudge. After waiting in the line I received large hot fudge sundae that was only filled up to the top of the logo on the cup with the same amount of pecans on it, that would be a single order of pecan and there is more hot fudge in the sundae then there was ice cream. I had one layer of vanilla, a ton of hot fudge, one layer of chocolate, a ton of hot fudge and pecans on the top. The large cup wasn't even full. And the girl at the window just handed me my cup. I had to tell her thank you and have a good day while she was speaking to the other employee behind the counter not even acknowledging my presence. In addition, though some people may say the place is a little pricey, I think you get a lot for the money. Great place for some frozen custard. Andy's has a number of storefronts around the Chicagoland area, but this was the first one we tried. It sold us. Andy's has almost 100 outlets spread across 13 or so states today, so it is a very successful franchise. While they have all the usual items one would expect, Andy's has a lush rich taste to their custard and that is the foundation of everything else. Give this one a chance if you ever pass one on the road...especially good in the summer, but open all year round. When I eat the Blackberry Concrete from Andy's, I hear that song "Love lifts us up where we belong..." They use fresh berries--or magic--so the juice swirls into the vanilla custard as you break them with the spoon. I suspended my hatred of spoons for this. The drive thru on the weekend is only for crazy people. The line of cars was so long I thought it must be CGI. I walked in to their mercifully cold store on both visits. It's clean. Service is great. Their training regimen should be a required class in high school. If there is something sinister behind their perfect manners, I don't want to know. Carry on. I knocked a star off because it seems too pricey, but I was not overwhelmed by remorse. When it was crowded inside, the line moved quickly and the vibe was friendly and pleasant.
