First time trying the ice cream. The machine wasn't working properly, not cold enough. Everyone's ice creams were melting the second it was handed to us. There was a regular who sat by us and he promised us it's usually better than this. Maybe we'll try again. The BEST soft serve I have had! This is definitely my #1 soft serve spot. The soft serve is creamy and there is a variety of ways to enjoy it. From regular soft serve on a cup or cone to milkshakes and sundays. Sprinkles are made by the site and I have to say they taste way better than the store bought generic stuff. The sprinkles are delicious and flavorful. The sprinkles do not taste like hard sugar. I give this place a solid 10/10 because of the creative options and names, and also presentation and friendliness of the staff. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, they are usually very busy so be prepared to stand in line. I did see a review about the outdoor seating area not being too clean, but I didn't experience too bad of a sticky table in the outdoor seating tables. Most of the customers I saw had small children, so I understand that the tables get sticky and messy, also, there were only 2 people working inside when we arrived. I can see how it might be difficult to maintain cleanliness of the seating area with little staff. read more

Luckily, I ordered a turtle sundae which was ok but no pecans inside the sundae just a little bit of them on top. Would never come here again. This was my first time to Premo's and to Oak Lawn. After stuffing ourselves at Palermo's, we need to wash it down with something sweet and spotted Premo's. Premo's is one of those places that looks like it has been around forever. We all had the Soft Serve Ice Cream Twist Cone. It was very good (not like the soft serve that McDonalds sells). This ice cream shop almost ended our marriage. Luckily, it was so good that it saved it in the end, too. I spotted Premo's on the way to a restaurant and loved the classic look of it, so I asked my husband to stop at the ice cream shop on the way back home. Of course, he drove right by it and then argued with me that he doesn't understand what I mean by "an ice cream shop" and then I'm there yelling at him that it looks like a classic summertime "ice cream shop" and what the hell else did he really need? Ugh! He's naturalized, so I let it slide. Anywho... 5 minutes later we're back at the ice cream shop (that looks like an ice cream shop, dammit!) and there's so many choices that it makes it hard to decide. I see people walking out with ginormous dipped cones and they have some flavors of soft serve, dip and other options that you won't find elsewhere, like cherry shell or Fruity Pebbles topping. I went for their special, which was essentially an Oreo shake with Nutella added to the mix and painstakingly smeared in the cup and around the top so you get a "salt rim" of smashed Oreo. It was delightful and super indulgent. I don't think it had a size option and the one I got was huge and ridiculous and everything I could have hoped for in a treat. My husband got a dipped cone and I didn't pay attention to the flavor because I was mostly ignoring him at that point, partly because he pissed me off and partly because I was more focused on keeping my tasty shake from melting all over the place. But I recall him being impressed with the size and liking the flavor. Our total was just under $10 and they take credit cards, so everything worked out and we're still together. Their Premo Burgers are quite good, and their other food items are quite tasty also. It is a neighborhood icon, and like so many other small businesses, went thru some rocky times due to the Wu-Flu epidemic. This little shanty houses one of the best chocolate malts I've ever had in the middle of winter! Its not much to look at, but under the white and purple exterior belies soft serve nirvana. After filling our guts with greasy pizza goodness, we thought the next logical food item would be frozen custard! I'll admit - I was disappointed that there wasn't any custard or ice cream to be had here outside of soft serve, but as soon as my hissy fit was over and I took a sip of the choco malt I was completely sated. The staff is generally pretty friendly. It's humble and you'll encounter real people with real kids. If you're expecting froo-froo pretentious Naperville ambiance, then you will be highly disappointed. There is some parking in a dedicated lot, and additional parking on the side street (South 55th Court) and West 95th Street. Seating inside is pretty limited. On weekends, expect to find a line out the door. I learned that late last fall, there was a bad fire there. So, now that spring is creeping upon us, I was wondering if anybody could let us Yelpers know if it has reopened, or when that is expected to happen. read more
