We live really close to Andy's and when we drive by in the summer it is almost always busy! The ice cream is thick and has such a nice texture and taste. I love the ice cream cones and my husband really loves the James Brownie ice cream in a cup... most of the time we order a large and split it. They have a rewards program and you can earn $5 off. They also give you a free ice cream cone on your birthday. They are always coming up with a new flavor and sometimes they have free collector cups that your ice cream is served in. You can order through the drive thru or walk up to the window and place an order. Even if the lines are long, you don't wait too long for your dreamy dessert! I recommend coming here at least once. It is definitely worth the extra cost! You can tell they use high quality ingredients. Andy's is a great place to visit because the product is consistently good and you know what you are getting. The staff is friendly and appreciative of its customers. We used to have an excellent frozen custard spot right behind our old apartment (shout out to Scooter's in the city!), Andy's is a fine spot in its own right. I am a little disappointed that they don't do flavors of the day like many other custard places (it's only vanilla or chocolate with various toppings), but at least they have a good variety of concretes that seem to rotate. Andy's is a nationwide chain found in several states, and while I do like local places a lot like the nearby Sprinkles, being a chain does offer two advantages: - no closing during winter months - an app where you can earn rewards You'll definitely want to get the app as free dessert is good dessert. Also a couple pro tips: the kids sundae is too big for a toddler and you're better off just sharing (I miss Scooter's free toddler cones!) And I've seen stuff offered at the menu at the store that wasn't online or on their app so make sure to look over it when you get there. As for the custard itself, I really like the melted chocolate chip topping, as it gives a good texture to the creamy custard, but I haven't really had anything bad here. I had the luxury of stopping at Andy's in Schaumburg on a hot sunny Thursday afternoon. You can walk up and place your orders at their outside window or go to their drive thru. While standing outside, the sweet smell of sugary treats permeated the air. Andy's has several different custard desserts to pick from which can further be customized by several more choices of toppings/mix-ins or sodas. All treats are either made on the foundation of vanilla and/or chocolate frozen custard. I happily ordered a vanilla concrete with the addition of caramel and oreos. My concrete was made in a couple of minutes. I hit it pretty hard because it was hot outside and I wanted to avoid having a hot rich vanilla oreo cookie soup. It was a welcomed sugar overload and I spent the rest of the day hopped up on sugar. You can order via their drive through or walk up to the building and place your order. There is outdoor seating and it is limited. Service is pretty good, it tends to get busier after 5pm so there can be a longer wait for getting your items. That's understandable though. My husband and I came here for the first time the other day, and we did like it. We had a taste for ice cream, but wanted something with a more shake-like consistency, so we thought custard sounded great, and we went through the drive thru. I ordered the choco express shake ($6.79), and it was okay but not something I'd crave. It also seemed very expensive for what I ordered, and it didn't taste like coffee to me at all. The consistency was great, but I'm sure I would have liked it more if I just got a chocolate shake; it was just okay. My husband really liked his, and he decided on a chocolate shake with cookie dough ($6.89 for a regular size 16 oz). He absolutely loved his because of the cookie dough chunks, and I tried his too, and it was very good. Though, I can't wrap my head around a $7 milkshake, let alone one that's $7 and only 16 oz. The large shake would have been $7.89, and that's mind-blowing to me. As you can probably tell, I was disappointed by the high prices. The cheapest thing is an Italian ice tube under the small treats section of the menu, but when it comes to their specialty items, the cheapest thing you can get is a root beer float or cream soda freeze for $5.19 or a regular sized BYO sundae for $5.49 (though you'd probably add toppings so you'd be paying more than that anyway). The menu has tons of different customizations you can make to different items, but be careful because many of the toppings are considered premium toppings, so they cost more money if you add them. Premium toppings for $1.35 extra include: cheesecake, peanut butter cups, almonds, brownie, cheesecake, and a few more. Classic toppings for $1.00 more include: different fruits, syrups or caramel/hot fudge, peanuts, cookie dough, pretzels, Oreo, M&Ms, and more. The service was great, and they had a younger boy taking orders in the drive thru. I felt bad though because on the day we came it was raining and he was standing there with a raincoat. The restaurant doesn't have a seating area inside, but they do have a walk-up window and some outdoor seating. Although the quality of the food is great. When I went in 06/08/25, it was clear they were up-charging me. They added a 4 pack of waffle cones that I didn't even ask for and my treat was overpriced. Came here with the family while I was in town. On a Tuesday afternoon in mid-July, I was surprised to find no one here. We couldn't even tell if they were open because it was so dead (not a complaint, just an observation). There is no indoor seating here - there's just a walk up window with an outdoor seating area and drive thru. You'd think since they don't do any indoor seating that they'd have substantial outdoor seating, but there's only a couple of benches to sit on which is disappointing. I'm sure during peak times, there isn't a place for a family to sit. The menu had a lot of good options to choose from but I ended up ordering the Texas 2-Step Jackhammer since it came highly recommended due to the hot fudge filling in the middle. It was pretty good and I enjoyed the Jackhammer idea. The custard was good, but nothing special (quite frankly, I prefer the taste of the custard from Culver's). But it was still a great treat for a hot summer day. The gentleman working was very kind and knowledgeable and he prepared our treats quickly. It was 11pm and we were looking for a celebratory dessert location in the area we were in and this place came up. It was a Friday evening and they were open until 12am. They don't have indoor dining but they do have a few benches to sit outside. They also have drive through options. The set up is very much like a 50s drive through. There is a big board outside with the menu and once you have selected what you want, you pay at the counter and when ready, they will call for you. The quantity is huge so I would recommend whatever you decide to get to start with a small. And even with a small, you can easily share with another person. So this place didn't disappoint. There are so many unique flavors to try. The two things we got were: 1. Triple Chocolate Concrete - frozen chocolate custard blended with chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate chip. You will be in chocolate heaven if you get this. We got a small and couldn't finish. Their custards come in small, regular and large. 2. Choco Express - this was chocolate frozen custard blended with espresso and creme caramel. This was a shake and you can only get them in reg and large. We got a small and couldn't finish. Due to COVID-19, Andy's new location is something to look forward to during this difficult time and a wonderful addition to the area. This is not the same as TCBY or Dairy Queen because it's not soft serve or frozen yogurt - this is rich decadent frozen custard and you can taste the difference. Your wallet will also notice the difference since it's more expensive but it's worth it. Our family enjoyed our Concretes (frozen custard mixed with various flavors) despite the packed parking lot by the Honda Civic Type R Racing Crew of Schaumburg. Went there on a Monday afternoon and there was no line (YAY). Been meaning to try their custards and others and we finally did it. I got the banana split, the rest of the family got the boot daddy concrete, mint chip and choco rocko. Glad to say I finished mine in one sitting!! It was that good just like I imagined it would be.
