Menchies is such a cute place and in a great location near the library, restaurants and the area where free Summer concerts are often heard. The inside is clean and open with a lot of natural light. Plenty of toppings to choose from, including fresh fruits and my favorite nonpareils, which I don't see often so they are a welcomed splurge/treat. The owner, Kwan, is very friendly, generous, and supportive of local community events and programs that encourage children and youth to succeed. And yes, the super cute spoons in several colors are reusable, so I often pack them in my work lunch box for yogurt or oatmeal. This is my favorite place for frozen yogurt. Over the past 10 years I've visited many locations, all of which started to decline and inevitably close (Glenview, Park Ridge, Deerfield, Mount Prospect). Schaumburg has been the most consistent location over the years. Algonquin was always pretty good too but my last visit the froyo was watery. I know there are Bloomingdale and Downers Grove locations but I haven't been to those. The location is very clean and although there are typically kids running the locations, the store is always well kept and the toppings station is always full and clean. The froyo is always great, and they always have good flavors. Their machines are typically full. And like I've mentioned always consistent. I've been turned off by other froyo shops where the froyo is priced by the ounce and the froyo comes out of the machine like frozen or watery slush and just a small amount weighs a ton, so you're paying more for less, not to mention not enjoyable froyo. The Schaumburg location the consistency of the yogurt is always spot on. It's never watery, too icy/slushy or bland. I truly believe this location takes pride in their shop. We love coming here for dessert. It's guilt free because it's made with yogurt. For extra savings or if you have a big family and you don't wanna spend a lot of money you can go and buy pre-filled quarts for under $6. They don't have all the flavors but they usually have a pretty good variety. I would say the average that my husband and I spend is eight dollars each, but we don't fill our bowl all the way up we fill it only halfway and add peanut butter. The restaurants always clean and it's always full of people so it's a really great place to come for a snack. Everybody that works there is very nice. They don't give out samples anymore, but that's OK because I've never had a terrible flavor. it's hard to remember to take pictures when you're inside because it's crowded and you wanna kind of keep the line moving. My husband's favorite flavor is the cake batter with peanut butter on it and mine is any of the low-carb ones I really haven't had one that I hated. If you're in the area and looking for a good snack, keep this place in mind it's not the most affordable, but you can get a small amount. read more

We visited them on a Saturday afternoon and they were having a good day. They had two vegan options - an oatmeal cookie dough "ice cream" and pineapple sorbet. I had my heart set on a creamy treat so got the cookie dough. If you haven't been to Menchie's, everything is soft-serve. You get a cup and take as much as you want. (And, I did.) If you want, they have a variety of toppings you can add. Some are free and some cost extra. We skipped the toppings. We took our snacks and walked around Schaumburg Town Square for a while. Grabbed a cup, got my froyo, and ate a super healthy lunch. I see this happening a lot in the future because it's right on the way from a string of errands I run during lunch once or twice a week - I've already gone 4 times! With froyo at $.45/ounce, it doesn't break the bank for a cool treat. Workers are all super nice, location is really clean and cute, plus they have a rewards card. I've been a Red Mango devotee but the rewards program may make me switch over to Menchie's. They call it mySmileage and I'm a sucker for cutesey anything. Once you've spent $50 at Menchie's they credit your account with $5 to spend, wootwoot! So far I've tried peanut butter (liked it) and I like their topping options of oreos, reese's pieces, M&Ms, many good chocolate options that pair perfectly on peanut butter. Menchie's is my to go fro-yo place, whenever I am visiting the in-laws. Its located in a small plaza, but with ample parking spaces. Fro-yo is good for those hot sunny humid days. As you walk in you notice they have plenty of options to chose from. Along with lots of condiments. They go out of the way to make sure they offer every kind of chocolate you can think of. I like the set-up they have, the lobby has about 15 tables with bar stools. They have the fro-yo in the back along the wall and to the right they have all the condiments. The checkout in in the middle, where employees can assist guests on every angle of the store. I definitely enjoy coming here with my fiance and her family, but most of the time just myself and the fiance. We enjoy the nice employees service. Will definitely continue to come here even during the winter months. read more

Located right by the Schaumburg library, Menchies is tucked away in a quiet strip mall. The layout is a little different where it's more open than your typical set up. Absolutely my new favorite Fro-Yo place! Blows "Red Mango" out of the water, IMO! Cheaper per ounce, LOADS more options & seating, and the employees are much kinder! When the 4 of us went in late on a Sunday night, the girl working (Katie) was incredibly helpful, and actually knowledgeable about the company and when the different flavors rotate, and just general facts that were interesting to learn. Whenever we go into Red Mango, it always seems the girl working there just haaaates her life and is not very welcoming... We had a fabulous experience at Menchie's! We had loads of flavors to sample including their minty "grasshopper" flavor, coconut, fruity combo, cake batter, banana, decadent chocolate, vanilla and MORE! (lots more yumms not-as-tart than at Red Mango...) We did learn that they also put a Pumpkin flavor AND a Red Velvet flavor in their rotation, but it depends on what their distributor has for options at different points in the season, as the lovely Katie informed us. After I chose a delicious mix of the chocolate & vanilla frozen yogurt, I headed over to the toppings center. *HOLY TOPPINGS* They have loads of toppings to choose from *see all my photos* ! You can custom create your own mix! They also have chilled toppings to, in addition to some hot choices as well! Once you finish your custom creation, you bring it over to the center island, and you pay by weight, but it is CHEAPER per ounce than Red Mango (a place that will now be in my past for satisfying this girls fro-yo cravings!). Then you get to pick out an ADORABLE spoon, and can keep it forever because it's dishwasher SAFE and the cutest spoon you'll ever see! You can take your yummy creation to one of their MANY tables (sorry Red Mango, you only have like 4 tables..bah) and even take a friend up on a game or come with the kids and they can color some pictures from their art corner! So, after my last review, Kwan from Schaumburg Menchie's reached out to me privately. He asked me about our experience, apologized, and assured me he would work with his staff to ensure this wouldn't happen in the future . He also sent me some coupons later to make up for it. I was definitely amazed with this and would have been 100% content with just the apology. So, my sister and I were in the neighborhood last week and decided to come in. Right as we walked in, the worker smiled and greeted us warmly. He asked if we needed anything or if we had any questions. We definitely felt welcome! The flavors were great, and it seemed like they had more toppings than last time including cinnamon rolls. ohmagerd. Amazing! Anyways, he rang us up and we ate. It was really good. In short, it was just really nice to see Menchie's taking what I said to heart despite me being just one customer. My experience was totally different the second time around. The first few times I tried it, I made some unimpressive combinations. I learned the trick is to know what "taste" you're going for and add accordingly. Anywho, this Menchies is pretty good. Decent assortment of frozen yogurts, good range of condiments. You can make a nice concoction here. If we're talking in terms of yogurt quality, absolutely fantastic. Great variety of flavors, my particular favorite original tarte. Good variety of condiments. Great at keeping it clean and safe with hand sanitizers, gloves and social distancing markers. My only downside is that customer service is a little lacking. Maybe it's the time of day that I go and the service isn't as good during that time. The front employees are a little snooty. I was grabbing a lot of condiments because I was planning on sharing with a family member at home, and the two girls snickered at me pretty visibly and rolled their eyes. If I was their boss, I'd get rid of this kind of service immediately. read more

Of all of the Menchie's locations in the suburbs, this is probably the best one, as they offer the most flavors and most fresh toppings. For example, they offer sliced bananas and mango, but I have not seen another Menchie's location that offers these toppings (probably because the fruit goes bad quickly). This location also will make cakes, which we took advantage of on my son's birthday. You can choose any flavor that they are currently dispensing, as well as any toppings that they currently have available. Our cake ended up being so awesome, and the ratio of frozen yogurt to toppings to cake was of equal balance (but if you like cake itself, do know that the ratio is approximately 50% frozen yogurt, and about 1/3-1/4 cake). Do know that not every Menchie's location makes cakes, so just something to consider. One of our favorite places to eat dessert in the suburbs. And they post their nutritional value. And they have a rewards membership program where you can accumulate points for $5.00 off. Love this place. read more

Call me a sucker for cute things, but I like Menchie's mascot. And the fact that Menchie's mascot (is the mascot called Menchie?) apparently rides a scooter -- at least, according to the little coolers they sell so you can transport your froyo home while keeping it cold. The little sample cups sitting out where you don't have to ask for them is also nice, and sets this place apart from other froyo shops in the area. If you walk into a self-serve froyo place and you aren't familiar with what they offer, how else are you going to know what you like? OMG THAT ROCKIN' SALTED CARAMEL. I couldn't only eat that flavor, but I mixed it with some Pure Chocolate and nnnnnngggggghhhh. So delightful. The PB cup tastes like PB cup. I didn't try any of the other flavors because I didn't want to go crazy on my first visit. But I'll be back. So far, of the places in this area, this one feels the most comfortable to me. Prices are pretty much in line with other self-serve pay-per-ounce froyo places around here.
