My mom constantly mentioned how she would like to visit this place and Mother's Day gave me the perfect opportunity to turn that wish into a reality. I bought tickets to the 1:30 pm show on Mother's Day. Tickets were $76.95 each, but I was able to get 15% off directly from their website for Mother's Day so I actually paid $65.41 each. I also decided to upgrade to their Queen's package which is an additional $30 per ticket. So overall, I paid around $190 for my mother and I. The doors open at noon- which is around the time we got there. For check in- this is where you are assigned a knight to root for. We got the black and white knight. We also got our VIP lanyards and our package came with taking 2 photos! They didn't open the doors to the arena until approximately 1:00 pm. They have an area just outside of the arena where you can order drinks from the bar, buy souvenirs, watch the horses eat, etc. Once the arena opened we were seated in table number 3 (which is actually the first row). For food we had a tomato basil soup, garlic bread, a very large chicken, and corn on the Cobb. With the Queen package you also get a slice of cake. The food surpassed my expectations, it was really really really good! Everything was. There was not one mediocre dish on my plate- everything was tasty and I wasn't expecting that. My piece of chicken was humongous. The whole meal was super filling. Side-note: we had to eat everything with our hands, because this is medieval times! So, there will be no silverware for you. And of course, my knight won! So that was a plus. Overall, this is a great event for all ages. Me and my party had tons of fun, and we're all grown. So, I can only imagine how much fun this is for children! Plus we left with so much stuff. I took home a crown, a glass (I got to keep from ordering from the bar), I took home my lanyard, my little flag I was waving around, and I took home our pictures that was included in the package. We had a great time at Medieval Times in Schaumburg and overall it was a really fun experience. We upgraded to their top-tier VIP package, the Royalty package, and I think it was worth it. It came with VIP lanyards, preferred seating, two photos in cute frames that we received at the end, and cake as well. We were seated at Table 1, and I honestly you couldn't get any closer to the action. Being right there made the entire experience so much more enjoyable. Pros: There was plenty of parking and plenty of seating available. I also liked that they have multiple showtimes throughout the day, which gives you flexibility when planning your day. They have a bar with a pretty good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, and the staff throughout the building were friendly. Cons: It is extremely loud inside. It was hard to hear the person giving directions from above, so everyone kind of just started moving at once. The seating is also very tight, and if you're sitting next to someone who needs a little extra space, it can be challenging. The seats sit very low to the ground, so anyone who is pregnant or has bad knees may struggle getting in and out comfortably. The food was okay, but it came out so slowly that it was hard to eat everything while it was still hot. The chicken, corn, and potato were the best parts of the meal. The soup tasted like it came from a can, and the garlic bread reminded me of the frozen kind you buy at the grocery store and heat up at home. Overall, we had an absolute blast and would definitely go back. The show, the horses, and being so close to the action made it a memorable experience. What a fun dinner show! I last went to a Medieval Times over 20 years ago in South Carolina. The show was better now, and the food was surprisingly delicious (with generous portions). We went to a Thursday night show that was only about half full. We arrived quite early and had a lot of time to kill, wandering the gift shop and watching the horses get prepared for the show. The show and the meal are paced out well. Our attendant was super nice. The show included multiple equine demonstrations and the grand finale joust and battle, but there was also falconry, which was a nifty surprise. This is a place I had wanted to visit for many years. We would always drive past it on the highway and wonder what that castle was, but somehow we never found the time to go. Recently, I came across an ad for it on social media, and that's when we finally realized what it actually was. We bought tickets and decided to go. My 4-year-old son was so excited about the idea, which, as a mom, was the most important thing to me! Saying that I was impressed would be an understatement. Everything is designed in a unique medieval style and looks absolutely amazing. All of the staff are dressed in character as well, which really adds to the atmosphere. The show itself was exciting and entertaining. Eating dinner without utensils was also a fun experience because it really brings you closer to the spirit of that time period. Our waitress was wonderful and completely committed to her role! What made me laugh the most was my son crying when "our" blue knight lost the battle. He thought it was all real and cried so hard I told him that the ambulance came, the knight was treated, and now he's okay That immediately cheered him up. The knight also threw flowers into the audience -- I caught one, and my son was unbelievably proud. He said, "The knight threw a flower to my mommy!" Such a wonderful evening! The horses they have at this show are beautiful. I could see they were well cared for. We had knights, kings, queens, and squires By my estimation there were about 2500 people in attendance at this sold out show. They served everyone at the same time with soup, chicken, bread, and dessert. Impressive. The food was good. The swordfighting was a little long, and the horse show was a little short. There was a plot, but I could not understand much of what was said. You pay a premium price for this show and like Disney they have so many things my grandkids just had to have. Shock! A fun experience. We went for a birthday celebration. All adults & we enjoyed our experience. Its basically dinner theater. You sit in sections that are associated with a knight. The dinner is garlic toast, tomato soup, half roast chicken, half a potato & corn on cob. Dessert varies but they had an eclair & cake. Theres nothing special about the food. Also nothing wrong with the food. It all came out hot & was served on silver plates or bowl. No silverware as you use your hands like medieval times Its a fun show. This is a neat show and unique dining experience. Starting out with the bad: I liked our server for easy going but he seemed inebriated and didn't do well on refills. The desert was alright, not bad or exceptional. I could see other servers in different sections running laps around the server for our section. They did many rounds of refills, brought food out quicker, and cleared plates swiftly. What I liked: Our server was easy going, funny and cautious of our daughters many food allergies. The show is wonderful and had my two year olds entire attention. The theme is quirky and it's a fun neat experience to be a part of. The serving sizes are big-- maybe too big, maybe we made the colossal mistake of eating steakhouse a couple hours before. But each of us, including my two year old were served half a little chicken. The food is flavorful, juicy chicken, perfectly seasoned potato half, corn was a nice texture. The menu also accommodates for allergies and we navigate many, dairy, egg, peanut, tree nut, beans, peas and grapes. I will say thought if you have a soy allergy to consider reading the allergy accommodations before hand. I'd return again as it's a fun experience with or without kids. Hip hip hooray! It's been about a decade since my last visit to Medieval Times. That last visit was in California as well so it was my first time at this Schaumburg, IL location. I'm happy to report that Medieval Times is alive and well! Honestly, it feels like an even bigger affair now. People were rolling up in stretch limos and full outfits; the commitment was impressive. We came with a group of 28, and our party planner had no issues at the box office since we prepaid (around $60 each). From the moment we walked in, it was a whole vibe. The energy felt even more electric than I remembered... though that might also be because our knight won. Black & White Knight FTW! For anyone new: you sit in color-coded sections, each representing a different knight. You're expected to cheer loudly for your champion while wearing a matching paper crown. It sounds cheesy, but it's genuinely fun once you're in it. The food was better than I remembered, and yes - you still get 0 utensils to keep things true to the times. I cracked up at how everything on the menu had a "dragon" theme: tomato bisque as dragon's blood, potato wedge as a dragon scale, etc. The weak point for me was the dessert; the eclair was technically fine, just...not great. All in all, it's a good time. Lots of birthdays and celebrations, lots of cheering, and a surprising amount of enthusiasm from adults and kids alike. If you're even a little curious, go and let yourself get swept up in the spectacle. We even bought our photo (you can take one on your way in) and it wasn't outrageously priced. We came to Medeival Times, and it was a great experience for our group and our children. We opted for the VIP experience so we could get the best seats, and we thought it was worth it with our young kiddos to feel fully immersed in everything. Also, their merch game is strong, making it easy to spend even more money beyond the tickets. The food was plentiful, and as a vegetarian, I felt well accommodated. All items were kid-friendly, especially the chicken and corn, and the entertainment kept our kiddos immersed for the couple of hours we were there. Medieval Times was such a blast! The whole vibe pulls you right in with knights riding out on gorgeous horses, the crowd cheering, and battles that feel straight out of a movie. The energy in the arena is contagious and the final fight had everyone on the edge of their seat . I started with celery, carrots, and warm pita bread with hummus which I definitely finished first . Then came the veggie meal in a little cauldron with corn and sides. Super hearty and way better than I expected . It's one of those experiences that is just pure fun. You do not need to be a history buff to get into it. You cheer, you eat with your hands, and you enjoy the show. I left with a hoarse voice from yelling and a big smile . We had a fantastic time at Medieval Times for my niece's 5th birthday. The reason I'm doing 4 instead of 5 stars is for pricing- it is just really exorbitant and I felt like they weren't 100% honest about pricing on some things (definitely kings and queens of the upsell). However, the vibes of this space are still great. The knights acting was wonderful, the horses are beautiful, and the crowd was having a fantastic time. My sister and brother-in-law did the upgraded package for her birthday and it included a great family photo, a knighting ceremony, and an included item (sword or wand). She absolutely loved the experience. The food was decent- similar to when I came in my childhood with tomato soup, chicken, potatoes, and an eclair for dessert. I called to purchase tickets for my daughter's BIRTHDAY, making sure to emphasize how I wanted seats "front and center" it was a great experience on the phone-I really thought the representative understood my wishes. I misunderstood how many stairs there would be-first time going- and I stated that I'm disabled but that my family members would help me down. With that said, I can't describe the DISAPPOINTMENT when arriving and being seated on the very top floor, main entrance part. My granddaughter couldn't see everything and it just wasn't the same. My son wasn't "worried " with breaking his glasses the night before, because I assure everybody for the entire week that we would be right there by the horses and actors. I made it very clear to the woman on the phone that I just wanted to be near the horses for my granddaughter and my daughter special birthday. It was chaotic when we got there, of course, and they could not accommodate us when I spoke to them. He tried getting us down a little bit further, but we were already seated, and I saw that my kids were already eating (it took awhile to find the manager and he had to find another spot) so they said just forget about it. When you're spending THAT much money on an event that you planned out, just for it to be spoiled like that, it's very unfortunate and unfair. Quite a few years later because rereading my review I think it is a bit harsh. Since my last review I have been here at least a couple of more times. The food is actually pretty good. You get a tomato soup (Dragons Blood) as the starter and then a huge turkey or chicken (I can't remember exactly I think chicken ) drumstick. I think they had some different options for sodas but I don't really remember). Most of the other stuff in my old review is still accurate. A drawback for me and the reason for one less star than 5 is due to the big lines and crowds of people that I think could be done more efficiently and better. I remember there was always huge lines to just get into the main entrance and especially when you want to get in and sit down as well as the big common area where they have a store and such for Knick knacks is just masses of people. read more

Other than seeing it in Cable Guy I did not know much about Medieval Times but we were in Chicago visiting family and this one was only 15 minutes away so we all got tickets. At first I thought it was a little pricey but you really do get every penny's worth. They put on an amazing show, better than most WWE choregraphed fighting. The actors are 100% into their parts and it really keeps the audience engaged. We got lucky and had front row seats, right at the middle of the ring. I saw some other reviews mention bad/horse smells but we did not smell anything. They do a good job of keeping the ring clean so I am sure that helped. The food was really good. Maybe needed a little salt but we all had fun getting a little messy eating with our hands. To top it off, our knight won so that was a nice little bonus for our group. Overall a solid 5/5 that our entire group (ages 12-68) enjoyed and will be doing again on our next trip up there. read more

I went into this feeling like it's one of those experiences as a parent you just "have to do." While I wasn't personally excited to go, I was pretty confident my kids were going to have a great time. The tickets seemed pricey, but it's the price of poker these days. So off we went... My kids indeed had a blast, and it turned out to be an awesome experience for the entire family. From the moment we arrived, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. There were a lot of upsell opportunities like pictures, flags, swords, etc.. But, I never felt pressured. We ended up getting a couple flags, cups and swords that added to the experience. And it felt fun, not mandatory. Our server was simply amazing. He was kind and gracious. He turned out being part of the show, and in a playful way asked my kids to cheer him on. They did so with enthusiasm, and they were later rewarded by him with extra garlic bread and desert. Cute touch. My expectation going in was that the food would be okish/cafeteria quality. I was surprised it was great! Both my kids are picky eaters, but enjoyed the tomato soup for their first time. The garlic bread, and aforementioned bonus pieces, were wolfed down by them. I was shocked at how tasty the huge portion of chicken was. And we had enough leftovers for several tasty meals later, one of which I'm having now. :) The corn and potatoes were very good. The desert was the only thing we all weren't a fan of. The show was a lot of fun. The falcon was breathtaking. It was cool to see the performers really respecting their roles. The Queen even threw a flower to my daughter, after which she was smitten, and couldn't keep her eyes off her. The King took his role seriously, which enhanced everyone's performance. To us, the star was the Green Knight! What an amazing performer that my kids and (uh, unfortunately) wife adored. He had tremendous energy and skills. His equestrian, acting, tumbling, swordplay, vocalization, presence and conviction were amazing. My kids wanted his autograph after the show. Normally, I might find that silly. But the Green Knight's performance warranted it. He was very kind to them at the post show meet and greet. His performance stole the show. I'm a working class dad, and the cost of this was a stretch. But, I felt like the value FAR exceeded my hopes. No joke, at one point I bowed my head and thanked God. We attended the 2/22/26 4:00 show and were (luckily) seated in the Green section. It was a celebration! I had not been to "The Castle" since before the pandemic. The show was a sweet treat! The outing was to celebrate a special birthday, and we had a blast! The line for entry was wrapped around the building. That was good and not so good. It was not so good because I wasn't wearing a coat. Lol, but good due to the fact that business is definitely booming! That made my heart smile. We were the red and yellow group. Thought our knight was assassinated multiple times, he was a rock star!!! We didn't win, though. But I screamed to cheer him on the entire time! He gave it his all. Lol Food: If you have ever been, the food is always simple, yummers, and flavorful. The theme is around medieval things(duh). So we had dragons blood(tomato soup), dragon eggs(potatoes), dragon.... hmmmmm what did he call the chicken? Lol, I can't recall. But I know there was corn as well. Lol ALL TASTY. Cooked well. Omg, yes! I had lemonade to drink. The only issue I had was that the chicken came out first....and we waited a while before the sides came. I didn't care for that, but I just assumed they were busy making rounds. Oh!!! Lawrence(as seen in my pic) was our server. Totally cool people. He was attentive, funny, and kind. Dessert: It was a chocolate eclair. It was not my type of fun, so I didn't eat it. It was a great time. So much energy. So many people. So much going on. Overall a good time! It obviously caters to the kids but adults can enjoy it, too. There's a big main room to hang out in prior to the show that has two bars and several merch stands to explore. A hallway down at one end also lets you see the horses eating and relaxing. Seating is all pretty good, regardless of whether you're VIP or not. FYI there is no silverware so be prepared to eat with your hands! It's also pretty dark in the event space so you won't really be able to see what you're eating either. While in Schaumburg we decided to do the touristy thing and try MT. We were not disappointed at all. Our "Wench" was very entertaining and worked very hard. From the moment you walk in the castle you are entertained. After checking in you get your picture taken. From the you walk into the Great Hall where the evening is just getting started. After grabbing drinks at the bar we made our way around to see all the shops and displays. Soon after we entered the arena. The meal is started with a tomato bisque. It's ok. Soon after possibly the best seasoned chicken was delivered. I had a very low expectation as I was comparing it to other dinner shows. I came here on a Saturday night in October for the 7pm show. It was not at full capacity but had a decent crowd. We didn't get a premium package so we were seated in the third row. I would say there really isn't bad seats. They sell flags you can waive for $2 once you are seated for dinner. The show is pretty cheesy. This is great for children. As an adult its worth checking out one time. The meal includes: - soft drink (two pours) - garlic bread - tomato soup - big piece if chicken - half a potato (roasted) - half piece of corn - eclair They offer to go bags which you may want for your chicken. The vegetarian meal looked good as well. (Hummus and a bean stew plus anything vegetarian from the main menu). The best discount I found was joining their email list - Birthday discount. Review Visit: June 28th, 2013 There exists a legend of a place that will transport you back to the middle ages. The ages of kings and queens. The times of jousting, knights, horseback riding, and eating with your hands. The legend claims that there are 9 such places located in the United States with 1 also located in Canada. It's said that for a handful of currency, you can experience what it was like living in the times of yesteryears. That place is rumored to be called Medieval Times. I was able to find one of those places. The girl I was dating at the time said she had 2 passes to Medieval Times. So, doing what I do best, I gathered a fellowship of friends to embark on a quest to take a trip back in time. We arrived with no expectations and left with sparkles in our eyes and stories for the ages. Upon arriving, we all were surprised to see the building was a replica of a castle. That set the tone for the next few hours. We arrived early and waited outside in an ever-growing line of people to cross the drawbridge and moat to see the show. (There wasn't an actual drawbridge nor moat, but maybe some day...) After waiting awhile, the doors finally opened and we worked our way inside. After figuring out how to get through the ticket purchasing area (some of us had passes, some had to buy tickets), we were ushered in to the main area. This pavilion-like area was full of shops, bars, food and other things. As we filed in towards the arena, we were assigned to a Knight has his/her color. We ended up in the Red/Yellow section. In total, there were about 8 different colors you could end up in. Throughout the show, the Knights fight for their colors to win a tournament. I believe ours was a Jousting competition. In the end, our section won! Hurray Red/Yellow Knight! As I am sure with most shows, they change it up over the years but for us in 2013, the Knights competed for the hand of the Princess, if memory serves me right. Along with the show, they had a Falcon handler come out and let the falcon fly through the air and in to the seating area. Talk about adrenaline pumping! One of the things Medieval Times is known for is the food. They don't serve the food with utensils and you have to eat it with your bare hands. You had a few food options, just in case you were a vegetarian or had food allergies. The quality of the food was top notch. I still think about the soup from time-to-time as it was unlike anything I ever had before. During the show, they have people taking drink orders. My friends and I ordered some rum and cokes. They were served in these thick lenticular cups that you got to keep after finishing your drink. Hopefully they still do that as the cups were cool as heck. As the show ended, we made our long drive back home. The entire time, we discussed how awesome the show was and how it was worth the 3 hour drive there. Attention, Lords & Ladies! At age 72, I graciously (and finally) deigned to visit Medieval Times in honor of my not-much-younger sibling's septuagennial birthday celebration. The horses were gorgeous, the food surprisingly good, and the theatrics extremely hokey. But with front row seating and a package of plastic utensils I managed to sneak in, even though our knight did not prevail, the great-niblings loved it and a good time was had by all. One small note to management - your sound system sucketh, making most of the extraneous dialogue unintelligible. With what you are charging for tickets, I'm feel certain an upgrade could be accomplished. read more

I took my family to this location. Our server was fantastic. I applaud all the workers. The show was really great. The knights were fun and exciting to watch. The arena was set up beautifully since it was a theater in the round. The good was plentiful. Again, the staff did an awesome job distributing the food. I understand it could be difficult to consider but there should be a children's meal. Making large portions to serve a crowd is understandably difficult but the price is steep for kids not to eat. First time for group of six adults Fun atmosphere and waitstaff work really hard and were friendly, attentive and efficient. Food was pretty good and that could be hard with such a large amount of patrons to serve at the same time. The show was cool and fairly well paced although some slow sections that seemed too long. The only suggestion I would mention is that the sound system quality makes it very hard to understand the cast and dialogue. It wasn't bad but some things were disappointing. You would think with what it cost they would tell you that you don't get utensils. I need to cut my food into bite size pieces to be able to eat. Chicken leg quarters and corn of the cob are things I have to have utensils to eat. I was told by my server that if I ever come back they can use a blender if I want to eat.
