Alway fun to visit! I'm too old to really fish the streams anymore. When we Rv in the area Andy's is on the menu! It's fun to catch and cook your dinner in the wilds! Fish you catch and cook are always better tasting! Like most fish farms Andy's provides all the equipment you need. They weigh and clean your fish and put them on ice. They also require to keep any fish you "land".This causes a dilemma; you could catch enough fish for an army in 20 minutes. If you want to take home 4 nice trout for dinner however,your fishing time would be extremely limited.....Huh...what to do? I solved this problem by bringing an extremely light Temkara rod used to fish small streams. I also tied on barbless hooks and viola problem solved. You can extend your fighting times. If they don't throw the hook,"landing" those slippery little buggers with arthritic fingers makes it almost impossible to "land" any fish at all! I was lucky to catch those 4 rainbows for dinner. Great place to bring young kids to fish and ensure they catch something. The adults running the place are unpleasant and unfriendly, specially the adult woman . The teenagers helping run the place are at least somewhat pleasant. A bit pricey though at $6.50 a pound . read more

We planned a family get away at Andy's. We rented three cabins. The first cabin our family members checked into had mold in it and we had to be moved to another cabin. All three cabins we had were dirty, musty, linens were stained and had holes in them, pots and pans were dirty with teflon pealing off making them unusable, grills were filthy and unusable. One of the cabins had two different windows with broken/missing windowpanes. Cabins are outdated and not maintained. Wiring issues in the cabin when you tried to use the microwave it would trip the breaker to the entire cabin. All issues were reported to the staff, who did not seem to care with a response of "well it's not for everyone." Cleanliness, safety and maintenance isn't for everyone? Go to fish and for the scenery and do not stay in the cabins! read more

I passed by this place on the way back from Asheville to Atlanta but this place was incredible. I have never done fishing before so I didn't expect to catch any fish but finally I caught some. They were various sizes of trout. My gf and I spent 3 hrs over there and had a good time together. The lady staff was helpful and friendly. Price was reasonable(4.99/lb.) they provide tools, ice and cooler with a couple dollars so you don't need to prepare any tools. Last but not least, trout there tastes so good, no muddy smell, firm meat. I will be back there for sure. Ps. Doggies are lovely read more

A wonderful experience and some beautiful rainbow trout! This is a family atmosphere with a friendly and relatable owner. Prices are reasonable. We had a great time catching all the trout we wanted! Although we are a middle aged couple, I believe this place will be even better for families with children! There is lots of room to spread out a lunch and plenty of grass for kids to run around in. Plus, the trout ponds are small and make fishing easy for all ages! read more

I fished at Andy's trout farm as a child, with my grandparents, over 40 years ago. I was thrilled when Teka, from the Convention and Visitor's Bureau, told me Andy's Trout Farm is still entertaining families and groups with fishing, gem mining, hiking, and more! This past weekend, our group of 36 adults enjoyed fishing for our supper, staying in the cabins, and adjacent McAfee Mountain Resort, and being treated like family by Sonya, Paula, Diane, and the rest of the staff. I highly recommend using Andy's for family reunions, church and work events, anniversary parties, weddings, etc. They will work with you to make any event your own! read more

I cannot say enough nice things about this place!!! we didnt rent a cabin, we just stopped on our way to helen, ga. the lady at the bait shop was really nice. we rented poles and bought worms. my son and niece really enjoyed catching fish. they have 2 small ponds full of trout. and theres a playground. the adults kept catching fish while the kids played. we caught 10 trout in about an hour. we spent about 60 bucks for 11 pounds of fish, pole rentals, and worms. (they even clean them, which is nice bc we were on vacation and didnt have any fish cleaning gear). which is a really good deal in my opnion, and its really neat for a 4 and 5 year old to say they caught their own dinner. this place will be a staple in our vacation plans for years to come. read more

I took my 3 boys on an impromptu weekend trip because my middle son wanted to go fishing. This isn't something we do so I was looking at area trout farms and this one came up. I've fished at trout farms before but wasn't sure what to expect with a more resort setting (cabins, etc). We stayed 2 nights in cabin 7. My boys absolutely *loved* it. Cabin 7 is a 2 bedroom. It sits across a gravel driving path from the river and recent rains made the river more white water - great sounds to sleep with :) There was a small kitchen area - fridge, single sink, stove, microwave. There wasn't a lot of 'prep' space but because our stay was so short we really didn't cook there. I think it would be fine to cook in as long as the kids were outside lol. We're planning to go back for a week and will be happy to have milk, drinks, snacks there for the boys. The bedrooms were a nice size. We had a queen size bed that was plenty comfy and with the window cracked, the breeze/air felt great. There was a bathroom for each bedroom but (and this is the only real negative) if you have *any* mobility issues at all (bad back for example) or size issues (fluffy!) bring a portable toilet. There are toilets in there but they are set back with walls on each side actually touching the tank on both sides. So when you're sitting down, there is no wiggle room and you have to reach out past your knees to pull yourself on the wall to stand back up. Tiny/tight area. The first time I used it I thought I was going to be stuck lol. Otherwise, everything about the cabin has a very nice cabin on a mountain river feel. Not a mcmansion at all - just a nice homey feeling. We absolutely loved it. My boys used the porch area to practice their reel throws and played frisbee & blew bubbles on the gravel drive area. We didn't use the fireplace but the booth type table was used for drawing, snacking, reading. The comfy microfiber futon in the living room was a nice place to sit and read. We didn't use it for a bed but it appears to be convertible. We went trout fishing as well. My son took gloves and yucked out over the fat worms but he did his thing and even baited his little brother's hook. He also handled hook removal and took care of the 3 fish they caught. Andy's cleaned the fish for them and we had a really nice mess of fish for about $11. We then took the fish to the Valley Cafe where they fried the fish for free for us. We did buy 2 or 3 sides each and a drink plus the boys asked for some of their delicious desserts. The waitress there was amazing enough that (after I told her I'm actually allergic to fish and thats why the boys never got to fish or had it at home lol) she went and put gloves on, then sat by my 9 year old and removed all the bones for him and showed him how to eat it. I've eaten all over the world and stayed in many many places all over North America and I can tell you I've never had service that good. Andy's service was just as good - I don't mean to go off on an tangent! But Melanie from Andy's was ever responsive, helpful, and just truly amazing. We cancelled our planned Disney trip to spend the week at Andy's this summer. And we love Disney. read more
