Spent the day having coffee with a friend at the Mocha Nut after several recommendations from friends. I ordered the Oregon Chai which is a sweet, vanilla chai tea latte. It was so delicious! There was plenty of seating and plenty of parking when we were there. It was a great work spot and would recommend if you're in the area. read more

The Mocha Nut Coffee Shop has been on my list to try for awhile now and I just happened to be driving by today and decided to stop. Clearly everyone in my neighborhood got on board before me, it was really busy around 9:30am on a Saturday. It is very cute. There are little two-seat patio tables outside, Edison light bulbs, and wood clad walls. The menu is smaller but really everything you could really want at a coffee shop. I ordered the iced bold masala chai. It was a little too bold for my taste but they have another sweeter version that I'll try next time. I also tried both the banana walnut bread and a snickerdoodle cookie, both were good. My mom had just a plain drop coffee, which she said was good, just stronger coffee than she is used to. The staff was friendly as well and greeted me as soon as I walked in the door, even though they were already assisting other customers. I ordered and paid online. The process was super simple. They have a mobile pick up area to the left of the register so you can skip the line. They are also doing curbside pickup, you just have to call when you arrive and they'll bring it out. I am so thankful for a cute coffee shop on the Southside of Indy! The staff is always sooo friendly and the coffee is delicious! On my most recent trip I had one of their seasonal lattes, the rose cardamom latte. It was very tasty! It is a fun place to meet a friend and catch up or bring your laptop to work. It is also very convenient that they have their own parking lot. When the weather is warmer it is nice to sit either in front or out back on their deck. read more

Great new spot, happy I swung by (during COVID) Their online ordering and curbside service was quick and topnotch. I got a cold brew and a no bake cookie. The cold brew hit the spot and had a nice mild, smooth flavor. The no bake had some chocolate along with peanut butter and kept me full until lunch time. No complaints here.. i'll be back! read more

Visiting from out of town and loved our time here! Very homey and comfortable atmosphere, great drinks (with seasonal specials), lots of seating, and very friendly staff. One of the staff even came over to us when we'd been here a bit and asked if she could take any dishes/cups out of the way or could heat anything up again for us. That's customer service! I also like that there are a lot of plugs so if you come to work, you'll be set. The only thing I didn't like was anything with oat milk was $1 extra (even just putting a little bit in my americano), which seemed like a lot. Mocha Nut is an amazing hidden gem! I had breakfast there with a friend and let me tell you. The Ambiance was perfect for someone who needs coffee first thing. It's not excessively loud, they used soft Edison bulbs rather than bright annoying lights. It was perfect setting for my waking eyes. But the food...The sausage egg biscuit was so good. Better than the other place that has star in its name that cost a lot of my bucks. lol. But the specialty drinks are the reason for the season! What I asked for was the best thing ever. I had a simple caramel white chocolate mocha but received liquid gold in a cup the size of my head. It was so creamy and delicious. I've never tasted a mocha so smooth and yummy. This is such a cute & local coffee spot in the Southport area. I ordered a vanilla latte & it was great! It was a bit expensive compared to other coffee shops, but it's a local business so I didn't mind. The atmosphere is really great for getting work done, too. There are many tables near outlets and cute seating areas. They also have pastries and other snack items for sale. The staff was also super friendly. They came to by table and checked on me multiple times over the few hours I was there. There aren't many local coffee spots in this area that are great for work, so I'm excited to have found this gem! read more

A new coffee shop on the Southside...yay! This cute spot just opened after the spot stood empty for some time. It is a stand alone but with tons of outside and inside seating despite looking a bit small from the outside. The parking lot is a bit daunting but once you turn in there are tons of spots in front and around back. Upon entering the vibe is chill, stone with wood and industrial features bring it into the hipster category. The order counter is front and center and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The menu isn't huge but has just the right amount of coffee and tea options for the true coffee lover! I ordered a coffee miel with coconut and my friend a coffee with lavender (syrups cost a bit extra but they gave it to her for free as a first time guest). By the time we found a seat near some fresh flowers, great touch by the way, the staff were bring our coffee out to us. Very welcoming atmosphere and service for sure. We eventually went outside to sit in the plethora of chairs, and enjoyed the cooler summer air. The coffee was quite good and satisfied my craving. My husband has been a regular at this shop since it opened. I have only been a few times. It is locally owned, and has great service. Everyone I know, who has gone, says they have great coffee, but I don't drink coffee so I have to take their word for it. I love the industrial but yet cozy decor! In the past, I have gotten a Chai latte which was good, but not the best I have had. I am now not able to have sugar and was disappointed that they can't make a chai latte without sugar and the selection of tea bags is limited. They could have made a London Fog that was sugar free, but I don't like earl gray tea. Maybe it's a me being too picky thing. They do offer several dairy free milk options. My first time visiting Mocha Nut was on a Saturday morning. I was surprised it was not busy but this was a plus. Tables and chairs were spaced so social distancing could occur if one decided to enjoy their beverage in-house. Outside seating is also available. There were several employees working so service was very fast. My order was actually prepared with the wrong milk and they quickly resolved the issue. I selected the Ginger Peppercorn Latte as that morning's drink. I believe this is a seasonal item as it is not on the regular menu. Oh.My.Goodness! This latte was so good. It had the perfect balance of ginger and spice. I was left wanting to return for a second. The only downside is this coffee shop is not closer, but maybe that's a good thing for my wallet! read more

I've been to The Mocha Nut two days in a row now! Yesterday was my first time there, I had no clue what to order but the barista gave me some recs and I landed on a Pumpkin Spice Latte because she said it was less sugary than the starbucks version. She was right and I loved it. I always bring my own reusable straw and I accidentally left it in my cup yesterday. The same barista kept it for me and washed it. I was able to pick it up today. If you know where the Greenwood Park Mall is then you're in the right vicinity. My coworker actually told me about this place. She orders the Cafe Miel which is coffee with honey and cinnamon. She told me about the great banana bread too! They have a beautiful interior and the owner is very friendly and welcoming. Lots of places to sit tables all around. The owner said they had a new coffee flavor this season it's a candy cane drink. I ordered the vanilla latte and it was good! I liked the taste of the mix of both the coffee and vanilla. Don't you hate it when you order coffee and it's weak and you're left drinking warm water. Yuck! That's not the case here. They actually sell whole bean and ground coffee bags. They had mugs and thermos style mugs. If you go do yourself a favor and order the chocolate chip banana bread. It's really good. I've had banana bread but never with chocolate chips. This is coming from someone who doesn't lean toward chocolate! They had other baked goods available I just wanted to try the chocolate chip banana bread and now I need to look for a recipe and make some! Thanks Mocha Nut for a pleasant experience! I love having The Mocha Nut right down the street from my house! They are always quick, friendly, and seem to enjoy what they do. There are a number of great coffee shops in Indy but when it comes to the Southport area, a place like this is harder to find. It's definitely my favorite in the city and I LOVE their seasonal/less conventional flavors. P.S. Please bring back the brown sugar anise latte next winter. :) read more

Nothing like having a good cup of coffee ready to drink when you take your seat in a coffee house. Throw in some tasty banana nut bread and you are off to an even better start. And when the staff is friendly when they greet you and seem like they really appreciate your stopping by, that makes for a 5 star rating! This new coffee shop is in a stand alone building on Southport Road, just west of Madison. They sit a bit below street level, so be careful driving down the slope and turn to the right if you need to find additional parking in the rear. Inside, the surfaces shine and the place has lots of wood grain finish on the tables, walls, and counter. As you walk in, you see their merchandise and ground coffee that you can buy for home. The order counter is fairly straight back with the pastry selections below. They don't have a menu mounted on the wall, so I had to wait until it was my turn to order to see what they had. (They could have the order menus somewhere more visible so that you could decide while you wait.) When your order is ready, they call your name and pass it along a bit farther down the counter. Seating was plentiful for mid-morning and most folks seemed to be on their phones and computers. I simply enjoyed having my black drip coffee served at an appropriate (non-scalding) temperature so that I could enjoy it with my pastry.
