So let's just go in order: I came in on a weekday afternoon looking for a little pick-me-up caffeine after a long morning. I told the guy at the register that I had never been in but like sweet drinks and his recommended the cafe miel which (if I remember correctly) is espresso and milk sweetened with honey. It was the perfect suggestion. It was a great balance of espresso and sweetness. While I waited for my drink, the two people working on the line chatted with me - asking why I was in the area (looking for discount home stuff for our remodeling projects) and giving me suggestions of places to look. So kind and helpful!! Finally, I loved the design of the place. It was kind of industrial but cozy and with plants (which I'm obsessed with)! I was sad I had to get home - I would have loved to have curled up in a corner with my drink and a book and pass the time. read more

I would give them a 4.8 as far as stars go. The crew that works there is friendly and welcoming. I also enjoy the atmosphere they have going. Definitely a hipster hangout or at least new age feel. They have a good menu design as it's not the typical board behind the bars but more of a hand held menu. Not a ton of options on the menu which is great for a coffee shop in my opinion. The bar has a white tile back drop and has black equipment. The rest of the cafe has a lighter wood color, the use of black piping used for shelves and what not. The lights are Edison lights which fit very well. The whole cafe has a very familiar coffee shop feel from that of Chicago. It's higher class feel for sure. That being said; while it might have the feel of a higher class of coffee, the prices are very affordable. The cold brew or "iced coffee" is only $3.50. Most places sell it for upwards of $5. That makes the place a better place for a lot of different people. Also there's a medium amount of room to work or talk. They also don't have over powering music or super echoing room so it makes it for a great place to study or do work. Not to mention they have smaller two seater tables outside which make for extra seating (assuming it's not 100 degrees out). All in all this is definitely one of the better coffee shops in the southern Indianapolis area. It's definitely worth the visit. If not a common place to get coffee or do work at. You're probably curious why I didn't give it a 5 star rating. My biggest reason is the space. While there is a moderate amount of space in the shop there could easily be more. I get that they just got this building and they just opened, but in the same time I feel there's a lot of potential for it to be a 5 star. Just needs time to grow and establish their brand. There are not many coffee shops on the south side besides the typical chains; I was excited to try this coffee shop! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was nice. There was not any seating available so I took my latte to go. I ordered the candy cane latte, and unfortunately I didn't like it. I felt like the candy cane flavor was so overpowering that you couldn't tell it was a latte. It was very sweet. However, I would like to go back and try something else! This place is finally opened and full of sweet sweet coffee. The interior attracts the most hipster of millennials and the coffee satisfies the caffeine craving. With plenty of seating, you can catch up with an old friend on the couch or fully edit a website atop a nicely wood stained table. Allow your ears to be filled with a great coffeehouse playlist, or drown it out with your headphones, no one will judge you. If you're there to work, worry not as there are plentiful outlets and free WiFi. But what about the actual coffee? Well, it was wonderful. Coffee was pretty average, I ordered a meil. Maybe next time I would order it a little sweeter. Atmosphere was really nice. It was cozy inside despite the fact that they were busy! This place is finally opened. I wanted to be so happy that the Southside of Indy was getting a new coffee joint. Unfortunately, I'm sad that I wasn't blown away!! But I'm totally willing to give them another try once they have been open and done some fine tuning. The Mocha Nut has two entrances, one in front and one out back, so don't get confused. Walking in I was expecting to find a large menu board, or some type of menu displayed. Instead the cashier fumbled around to find a paper menu. Maybe they will upgrade in the future or once the paper menus disappear. The menu is very basic but then again, it's coffee. Mocha Nut offers traditional expresso drinks, coffee, teas and coffee beans by the bag. The cashier didn't seem very excited which isn't a great sign since they have only been open for a short period. It's always nice when a new place opens that they greet their customers, ask if they have ever visited and maybe even suggest an item (perfect time to up sale some of those hand baked goodies). I went with a 16 oz. iced coffee with 1 pump of SF vanilla. The total come in at over four dollars. This place charges for any type of flavoring you add to your drink! One pump of SF vanilla added 55 cents onto my drink. I find this unusual as most places don't charge for syrups. In all honesty I don't know if my drink was 16 ounces, it seemed pretty small. I myself was not super impressed with their iced coffee. Very light roasted, no bold flavor! Mocha Nut offers a small display case of baked goodies such as banana nut bread, cookies and biscotti's. They also offer a cooler of soft drinks and Circle City Kombucha. Prices on these drinks aren't on the menu. The interior of Mocha Nut is awesome though! Very well decorated and up to date with the times. They offer a variety of seating (window counter top, small tables and open bench seating). read more

Stopped in with hubby one morning. They have a very limited menu. For that, I deducted one star. Not a single "fru fru" drink on the menu a la Starbucks unicorn glitter...or many flavorings. With the limited menu choice, I went with a large latte and husband with an espresso shot. Our drinks were made quickly and we looked around at our seating options. It was then I really noticed what a pleasant and comfortable interior ambiance this place really has. My husband and I opted for a table and sat down to critique both drinks being the admitted coffee snob I am. Wow! Perfectly prepared and excellent tasting drinks! Their menu might be limited but what they do, they do exceedingly well!!! I was particularly impressed with my husband's espresso shot. It came on a little tray with a small glass of sparkling or mineral water (not sure which) and a spoon. It was a beautiful presentation. My husband, who is never quite sure what to order and wasn't sure he should have gotten a "shot" continued to talk about how much he enjoyed it days later. Overall, I think their coffee preparations are head and shoulders above the neighboring coffee places. If they would add a loyalty card they would get my every day business. read more

The place is fairly new, according to the internet, but you'd think it's been here for years. As anyone who knows me knows, I'm a sucker for local roaster / coffee shop duo. You can tell when you walk in that the Mocha Nut has simplicity in mind. The menu is brief and not overwhelming, but they'll make you anything you like. When you come in, the owner Seth will often greet you at the door. The seating is comfortable and varied depending on whether you're working or socializing. There's plenty of room to spread out without losing the cozy feel. The food selections are the perfect coffee snack. Parking is a breeze and there's plenty of spots. Check this place out if you're in the area. It's very homey. Exactly what a suburb like greenwood/Southport needs. read more

I drop by here often now. It's a wonderful little shop, spotlessly clean, with "it appears" to be a very nice family operating the business. I don't know they're family, but they are certainly welcoming. And they ask a lot of questions to get to know how to accommodate and please their customers. Example: "Why do you like this cup? How is it better for you than the other one?" The answer was simply a taller mug is easier for me not to spill. Two things that really stand out to me. I'm retired/disabled so sometimes a coffee shop is my only place to be around people and not be isolated and alone 24/7. This shop is fantastic. Parking is good. Seating is very good too. I wish this shop were open on evenings and Sunday, I'd use them then instead of the big company coffee shops in the area. Bottom line, this place really is pretty awesome. Go support this local south side coffee shop. There are so few coffee shops in the south side area so when Mocha Nut opened up- my coffee obsessed family was excited. The location is the old Greek restaurant right near Southport. It might by hard to find for some people but once you go in- you won't forget it. My first trip I had a Carmel macchiato iced coffee and my second trip I had a chai tea latte. Both were great and inexpensive. The owners and workers were excited to have us there and answered any questions we had. There is no menu board only a paper menu on the register. This makes it difficult to decide what you want without feeling like you are holding up the line. They have general roasts and teas listed as well as some snack items including creme brûlée and biscottis. The place has plenty of seating and is well decorated- can't hardly believe it was a Greek restaurant. There is also outside seating. The parking lot is a little tough but there are spots out back as well as our front. There are also two local business offices in the space but it does not take up much room. read more
