I've been back and forth on my rating here. Parking is limited. Then when we walked in, it took a LONGGG time to be greeted and sat (for a party of 3 people, on a Thursday at 2 pm when the place was empty). But when we were sat, our waiter was amazing! He was very sweet and helped us navigate the MASSIVE menu with recommendations. There's free chips and salsa, we ended up ordering queso as well, which was very good. Our food was also massive and not a single one of us could finish! My friend, however, did have her tacos come with a few extra toppings she did not order and she did not mention it. But our waiter was very attentive in asking if the food was to our liking and what else we wanted or needed to enjoy the outing. Bathroom situation is not the best (and only two stalls) but everything else seems clean and kept up with! The strangest Mexican restaurant I've ever experienced. The first time I went (about 1.5 years ago), it was okay. Not the best meal I've had, but decent. However, every visit since then has been awful. I'm not sure what changed, maybe ownership/management? You will wait forever for terrible food. It is too loud to have a conversation. The last time I went, they were out of rice (?? but didn't inform me upon ordering), and silently replaced it with...French fries. We ordered a side of guacamole and a combination platter for us to share The guacamole was average, nothing special. It had rice, beans, grilled green onions, grilled cheese square, roasted corn on the cobb, grilled chicken and carne asada. Portions were sufficient and temperature was appropriate. Both the meat were juicy, but this is where it all falls apart. TASTE: The guacamole was our highlight. It had good texture, but needed salt. It didn't pop. Rice was flavorless. Corn on the cob was dry. Chicken and carne asada tasted grilled, but lacked seasoning. I was quite surprised for Mexican food to be so uninspired. Jeez this place went downhill $8 for a large margarita on HH price ($2 off) burger it was so watered down o went home and had a beer instead. Service was sub par this time around too. We saw a HH sign when we walked in advertising the discounted apps and beverages. Then we were told no happy hour. This spot has a full bar and a nice atmosphere. Bonus oitside seating if you choose. A very expansive menu with something for everyone. They have daily and weekend specials on food and drink. Portions are good, although menu items are a bit pricey. $20+ per entrée not including drinks. The food was excellent. If I had a complaint beaides price, it would be the salsa. It was not very flavorful and not spicy at all. We did have an issue with billing. We ordered a special but was charged full price. Business starts putting chairs up and mopping the floors an hour before closing which makes you feel super uncomfortable while eating your meal; also the bartender seemed like he wanted to do everything including text people instead of make drinks for us. Stopped here twice on road trips. Both times we had pleasant experiences. I have had tacos and the Birria quesadilla and enjoyed both of them. The decor inside is excellent! The menu is pretty vast so there is something for everybody. It is situated in a small strip mall facing the road. There are a few other places to eat right around there and a Publix across the street when you arrive if the parking spots are all full, they have added a gravel parking lot at the end of the strip mall. The next thing was the inside was dirty. windows inside and out were filthy, the bar top was greasy and dirty. When the Bartender arrived he laid down 2 greasy menus. We sat had a wine and a beer, I was not about to eat there being how I had to ask for the bar top to be wiped down with a wet cloth he had to get from the back. After sitting and observing for awhile it never got better. I've been eating Mexican and Tex Mex for 60 years, chains and family owned. 1st family owned is hands down the way to go. But we wanted Mexican and this was the closest. The 2nd thing on my checklist is does the chain have Tamales? Most of the time no, too much work, to me not a good sign.... Well they have Tamales here that are 7 out of 10 with the lack of big massa the only negative, the pork is tender and moist. My wife had the build yourself dinner and loved the pulled chicken tacos.
