I've been here a few times and this last visit I noticed a few changes justifying a lower rating.. There is now a non cash cost vs cash cost. So paying woth credit card was about 4% higher than paying with cash. Service was also slower this time. I remember making the comment this is the longest ive ever edited here for food. And the check took even longer. We got the taco Tuesday special 5 tacos for $8 and the taco salad for $12-13. Both were good. Im not a fan of the different price structure or the credit card service fees so I tend to avoid these places. So I probably wouldn't return based on that. But food wise and price wise, it's still decent. Not great value bit definitely not bad either. Food tasted good except for the chips. They tasted like cardboard without the salsa. read more

It doesn't matter when you come, the staff is so friendly everytime!! The music is authentic but not so loud that you can have a conversation with out shouting! The drinks are great - there is plenty of chips and salsa given! The waiter/waitress will quickly take your order or give you space if your chatting. The food always has so much flavor and the chili rellenno is made with real pablamo pepper which for me is great! We get tacos which are always a delight and great for dinner - and of course I had a strawberry margarita!! read more

Yes I know seems like my go to is Mexican food I promise I do eat other stuff! So this was last month im just super late. My girls brought me here. It was nice clean big open area good service, we were there during the week early so not too many people there. I didnt try anything major I did the steak tacos on corn tortillas my daughter did the beef Gordita and my other girl did Pollo a la Diabla it was chicken breast with a hot chipotle sauce and she swears by this dish! This place is great. We have been here several times. It seems we get the 3 street taco plate every time. Most of the protein choices are available to mix and match nd you can get them on corn or flour tortillas. We have tried the carnitas, carne azada, fish and chicken. We've been back multiple times. BOGO margaritas are wonderful but I can only drink one or I'm tripping over myself when I get up. The decor reminds us of the few times we've been in Mexico. I actually order corn tortillas here because they are so yummy and they're the closest to authentic that I have found locally. The flavors are great and the staff is excellent. I love the family feel and the pottery they sell is so bright and cheerful. I've started collecting them. Don't let the exterior strip mall lackluster deter you. In the neighborhood so I decided to place a to-go order. I got the Bistec Mexicano. Overall the meal was very tasty. The rice was very good, but their refried beans were amazing. The bistec was fine. It was mostly tender but could use a little more seasoning or just a dash of salt. The grilled onions, tomatoes and surprisingly mild jalapeño complimented the dish very well. Their salsa and chips were very good too. Did I mention their refried beans were amazing? Prices are comparable to most restaurants. We got in to meet up after a long drive. We were sat and got our drinks on time. However, it took nearly an hour for food to arrive while tables after us had received their food. There appeared to be a bug in the salt shaker. We decided to stay and placed our orders. The chips were fair but the queso was room temperature upon arrival. One of our company had to ask if it was supposed to have taste. We tried to wait for our food after seeing such glowing reviews but when the food arrived, we were greatly disappointed. The chicken tacos were tasteless and not very hot. The tortilla crumbled the second it was touched and smelled strongly like cardboard. The chicken taco bowl was also tasteless and had little to no chicken. The refried beans were dripping straight off the spoon. Same thing with the steak. Tasteless and dripping refried beans. The burrito was dry and had no flavor. One of our company said it was like a tv dinner. At the very least, the tea was good. read more

We stopped in for a quick lunch last Sunday that ended up actually being one of the longest lunches ever. No kidding. This is a seat yourself place (or at least during our visit). We had 5 of us so the only table that we could all sit at together was in the very back near the restrooms. We waited about 15 minutes before our server appeared. We ordered waters and looked over the menu. When our waters arrived we ordered our food and I ordered a margarita. My margarita arrived quickly (we were also right next to the bar). My husband and I ordered the fajitas for 2 and we were very happy. The shrimp was HUGE and normal sized beef and chicken. I did not receive a plate (we only got one plate) and did not see the server again until we were ready for our check. I made do with no plate using napkins. My daughter and her friend each ordered nachos (one beef and one chicken) and our son had chicken nuggets. The queso was also very good. When our server finally did appear we asked for our check (this was 40 minutes after we got our food). He said oh you don't want your other margarita, they are 2 for 1? Well I would have loved one but I never saw him again so I declined (we were so ready to go). He brought our check 10 minutes later but didn't return for another 10 minutes to pick it up. The check process overall was about 25 minutes. I don't care how good your food is...I'll never return. He did not appear to care that we were frustrated with the entire experience. read more

We had a great lunch here--huevos rancheros and chill rellenos. Our lunches were tasty and filling, with especially good refried beans. Loved the salsa and fresh tortilla chips, too. We knew we were in the right place for authentic Mexican food when we heard customers all around us speaking Spanish. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was fast and friendly. ROACHES!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!! The only thing good about this place is PAUL the new bartender. Although I was told that leaving this review wouldn't do anything and that I should just leave and not say anything, I felt compelled to let people know this place is unsanitary! I was having a drink at the bar, eating my chips and salsa, when a ROACH jumped out of my basket of chips!! Literally after I had just bitten into my chip. The roach then crawled over the counter and went behind the bar area. I'm actually allergic to roaches ‍. The server that was back there (young mixed guy with glasses and braids, with the sides shaved off I believe) looked at the roach and put his hands up and said "I don't know what to say about that"... yep that's pretty much it. He didn't try to kill the roach or prevent it from crawling all over anything just simply washed his hands with the situation, as I'm sure he was not trained how to handle things like this. The young ladies that had just sat down next to us actually decided not to eat once this situation happened. The assistant manager was the worst and didn't do anything better. She simply said "let me get you guys some new chips"... first of all, who would want to continue eating at a place that just had a roach jump out?? It's ridiculous that that would be her first reaction. Just to walk off and bring us new roach infested chips I yelled to her not to get us new chips because at that point I was afraid to even eat or finish my drink. She left for a good while and didn't come back to address us at all, after we told her what happened. When she finally came back to the bar area I asked her for her general managers information and she told me his name was Tony Alvarez. No phone number. She simply said he was going to be back after he went to the store to get BUG SPRAY. I couldn't believe that the general manager would just leave to get bug spray and not even attempt to address the customer concern of roaches!! Didn't make sure we were good or anything. Never even saw the man. Safe to say, he never came back either. I guess he stayed hanging out in the back. Anyway, we decided to leave after such a long wait with no resolve and we asked the bartender for our check. About 10 minutes after we got out check, the assistant manager made it a point to come to us and give us our check. She didn't ask us if we wanted anything else because in my complaint to her earlier I told her I didn't feel comfortable eating there. But she didn't ask if there was nothing she could do or even offer us a small drink on the house or anything to try to retain our business. Just gave us our check and walked off. She did apologize about the roach and told us they got bug spray coming to take care of it but that was it and that was way before we got our checks. She pretty much just wanted to let us know that the manager wasn't coming to speak to us so we could leave. We could have been nasty and left without paying but we aren't like the managers of this establishment that have no sense of propriety. I'm really disappointed because we have come to this place sooooo many times in the past. It was definitely much better before the pandemic and it has really gone downhill. I'm upset that recommended this place to so many people based on past experiences but I will make sure that I left everyone I know NOT TO EAT HERE. I will also be leaving this review on every platform I can, as well as reporting to the health department with pictures of everything, including the insanitary conditions. San Jose is in the Home Depot shopping center. The restaurant is pretty spacious. The food is excellent. They offer a variety of authentic foods and the menu includes descriptions of everything. You can order full meals or specific dishes. I really like a chicken enchilada. Sometimes I get rice and beans which are seasoned nicely. The chips and queso are a great way to start things. And the Friday margarita special kicks off the weekend just right. Service is excellent. We go to San Jose often and it is always great. read more

we have tried this place 4 different times hoping it would be good. However it is terrible! Food is tasteless. Service is slow. Also the pot holder for the fajita skillet was disgusting! We took 2 bites of the steak fajitas as we waited on the server to bring the tortillas for the fajitas (which didn't come to the table until 15 mins later) we told the sever the food was not good. She asked if we wanted something else and we said no just the check please was charged full price for food we did not eat. We paid the bill tipped the sever and left! So sorry to say but the best thing I eat was the chips and salsa, and the pomegranate margarita. Ordered a T-bone steak that felt like chewing carton (seemed like cheap quality meat), the refried beans were watery and the rice had no taste. :( Food was bland not even a little bit of salt could fix it. We did not ate just gave our money away and left, didn't wanted to risk getting sick for eating that... we are hispanic and we know how real mexican food should taste. Taco Bell taste better. Wow, this place is fantastic! Thank you to my fellow yelpers for this find. We walked into this Mexican restaurant and was pleased to see Mexican people sitting down enjoying a good meal, so I knew this was the real deal. We had a very friendly server who was on top of his tables. As for the food....delicious! I had the burrito and loved it (burrito boyz don't even come close to this). My wife had the Mexican style taco and loved it. My daughter had the cheese Quesadilla and loved it. For desert we had the deep fried ice cream. Oh boy, what a treat!
