This was a good place. My sister recommended and I decided to give it a try. I got the lunch special which comes with an entree, rice, and naan for $14.99. it was a good deal for the price. The person who helped me was nice, he asked if it's my first time and thank me for trying. Lunch time didn't seem too busy so it was pretty quiet and chill. Foodwise: it was really good! I was surprised. We actually got food from another Indian place to try as well and even though we ordered different things, the rice and naan were similar but this place definitely beats it. It was soft and fluffy, rice was buttery and not dry. The butter chicken was very delicious, it was Soo creamy and smooth and flavorful. Naan was amazing. So chewy. Probably the best I've ever had. They give a good portion size compared to the price SERVICE: beyond kind. The owner even opened the door for us when we were leaving. Everything we ordered was on point: Butter chicken was delicious (a little on the sweeter side, which I loved) Samosas were crispy and super flavorful Chicken wings were perfection: crispy, flavorful, just Rogan gosht was incredibly tender and packed with flavor (my husband's favorite!) Located in downtown Renton, Rice N Curry's was the spot we decided to try as we craved some delicious Indian bites. The restaurant itself was easy to find but it's located in a small plaza with really limited parking so beware but there's plenty of street parking available walking distance nearby. Getting inside, you'll notice the modernly designed aesthetics which add a nice charm to the overall dining experience. However, there were some elements that looked tacky such as the basic tile floors you'd find in any convenient store or the chairs and wobbly tables which made it feel like more of a take out spot if anything. The service was great though and they were very attentive which I loved. Now, I'll be completely honest here regarding the food. For the prices and what's offered, I didn't think Rice N Curry's hit the spot unfortunately. Each dish was nearing $20 and lacked portions and the basmati rice was extra. The Veggie Kabobs as appetizers were tiny and seemed like basic hash-browns with masala and seasonings on top of them. The Daal Makhani seemed to be on the bland side. To add to the negatives, the Garlic Naan bread seemed like store bought and from frozen packages. However, I will say the Makhani Paneer with the tomato curry was decent in flavor. All in all, I think with some small improvements, these guys have the potential to be awesome. It is a family run business and you've gotta appreciate that aspect! read more

My brother shared that mine was very oily. The woman said - it is butter. It is supposed to be like that. Then she walked away. 100% would not visit again. I let him select what to order since it was his first time he likes to order the same items to measure the base of a restaurant so butter chicken and Karahi Paneer were his choices we added naan and rice. Rice N Curry knocks that out of the park. I have dined at Fine Dinning and Michelin Star restaurants where the service wasn't as good as it was here. We love supporting local and especially family owned. You can really tell they genuinely care. I observed quite a few regulars coming in, they knew everyone's name. This is the friendliest restaurant around. Our first time visiting we ordered the Samosas, Butter Chicken, Chana Masala, Rice and Garlic Naan. We washed it all down with a Mango Lassi. I drive by here all the time, but I've never stopped in. I was invited to the Yelp community experience, so I popped my head in here recently. Rice N Curry is close enough that I can grab take out on my lunch break, so I was definitely excited to try them out! The dining area was super clean with several indoor and outdoor seats. The parking lot is shared with a few other businesses, so how easy parking is depends on what's going on. At 13:30 on a Thursday the lot was crowded enough that I had to play the "if I fits, I sits!" rule, though there's plenty of street parking with a small amount of walking, so no worries if you can't fit! For my lunch I got a mango lassi, samosas, and a lunch serving of palak paneer (which comes with naan and rice). I enjoyed the mango lassi ($4.25) quite a bit and it was a lovely "dessert" component to my lunch. Loved the samosas ($6.99)! Even though I got takeout they were nice and hot when I got to point B and had a great crunch to them. It came with two sauces which were both great and there was more than enough to go around. The palak paneer ($11.99) was pretty okay in general; perhaps a bit overpriced for what you get. I could say that about the samosas as well and the price to food ratio is a factor of why I find this place a 3.5 at best. I like how quickly everything came out, but there are closer Indian restaurants to both home and work that I prefer so it's not all that likely I'll be here again any time soon. read more

March is Women's month, but we should support women-owned, Asian-owned businesses like Rice N Curry all year long! We ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan as well as the samosas and mango lassi. Everything was packaged well, came out piping hot, and tasted great! My only complaint would be that the portions were a little small. We didn't have enough chicken to go with the butter sauce, but we were able to bring it home easily (since it was already in a to-go container) and have it over rice at home! The restaurant is a pretty casual place where you seat yourself at any available table. All the food comes in disposable containers and cutlery. There is a restroom in the restaurant. Oh my goodness, had some of the best Indian food I've eaten at Rice N Curry. I stopped by for lunch on Friday and got the traditional chicken curry (lunch special), some samosas, and the mango lassi. Samosas - 10/10. Crisp on the outside and flavorful on the inside. I don't eat spicy, and these did great at still having some kick while not being overly spicy. I also liked how they included 2 sauces - the green one was too spicy for me, but the red one was really good with the samosas IMO. Mango lassi - 10/10. I only wish that they had a larger size, I had to stop myself from finishing the cup on the drive back :) Traditional chicken curry - 9/10. Good flavor, but not a whole lot of chicken and there was also a lot more rice than curry, so had to eat some plain rice by the end. The naan was done well and soaked up the curry well. I might opt to get the non lunch special next time. Restaurant interior was clean and the 2 staff I interacted with were super nice. They have a small private lot for parking, but otherwise seemed like mostly street parking and then walk over. I am giving a solid three. It could have been a four but the butter chicken just didn't hit the mark. Working near here, less than a block away, it's certainly a great opportunity for a meal. We have lots of similar places in Renton, some better than others but this place is fine. Before giving my ratings on the food, please know I ordered to go, and ate it when I got back to my office, which was less than ten minutes, but with any take out, it can affect the food texture, taste, and quality. I ordered Garlic Naan, Samosas, Bhindi Masala, Butter Chicken, and Chicken Seekh Kabab. Since I had not been here, I figured I should try a variety of things and knew I would have left overs. The naan was fine, didn't really have the garlic flavor I would hope for. The Samosa's were probably my favorite part, the filling was great and the outer part was super crisp and tasted great! My second favorite in this order was the bhindi masala, which I had never had before but love okra, certainly a fan of this dish and recommend it. Unfortunately the butter chicken was my least favorite because it tasted like tomato bisque and the chicken was pail white which makes me question if they actually have a tandoor. I was also a fan of the chicken seekh which I had not had before. It's a bit pricy but some really great flavor. Overall, this food ended up being about $20 per meal since I had lunch and then myself and husband had dinner from these dishes. Which, is kind of pricy considering all of the other options and their price points. Certainly worth a try if you are in the area. I like the idea of supporting local minority / women owned restaurants since it's difficult for small businesses to survive nowadays. I tried the Butter chicken and it was good. The garlic naan soaked up the curry well. The samosas also stayed crispy and it didn't feel oily to me. Plus, the cilantro green sauce tasted fresh and worked well as a condiment for the samosas.
