Upon arriving at my appointment, I was feeling raw and vulnerable and tired and teary, which means I also felt especially ugly. I told Karen that I was wallowing in self-loathing and that today was probably going to be a challenge. Because why hold back when you're probably going to be bawling by the end of the appointment anyway, right? Especially when 'Jar of Hearts' and similar melodramatic, heart-wrenching songs* come on while you're being stabbed in the face. Well, she was so lovely to me and I left feeling so much better about myself afterwards that I did end up bawling in the car on the way home because I was so damn relieved. I'm used to women being completely awful to me, so I have come to expect it. But she is kind, funny, compassionate, knowledgeable, skilled, gentle, understanding, and efficient. And she gives me exactly what I want without rushing me or being condescending. I heart her. *that she will change to something more upbeat when you mutter 'oh, for fuckssake' and start to get misty
