I can hardly see through my beautifully long, lush eyelashes to write this review update! That's because I had Nora install (what is the word for this service?!) eyelash extensions on me and the result is an eyelash line so full and long that I could throw away all my mascara and wake up everyday looking like a soap star. Seriously these things are the best beauty invention ever. I'm a baby about beauty regimes. I mean, they are called regimes so you know it's not gonna be pleasant and I also have eyes that tear up quite easily which means that I was a trifle afraid about getting my eyelashes done. And while the process of getting eyelash extensions is quite long (about an hour for a half set and almost two hours for a full set) I think it was worth it thanks to Nora's gentle touch. She is also more than happy to give you breaks as needed for using the bathroom, standing up and stretching, or getting a drink. All you have to do is ask. This was my first time for getting eyelash extensions and they are definitely a "splurge" item, but now that they are in I can get fills every 3 weeks or so for a reasonable price and I think they are a guilty pleasure that I will continue indulging in. read more

Oh. My. Goodness. That was amazing! I just had my first facial yesterday, from Nora at Accent Beauty. Being new to this, I was a little nervous as I walked in. Nora introduced herself and set me right at ease. She's intelligent, she's experienced and she has lovely skin. All things that make me feel better when going to a skin care expert. Plus, she's just a doll; so friendly! She consulted me about my skin type and what I was hoping to accomplish with the facial. I went into the treatment room and was left to get ready and lay on the very comfortable treatment table, covered with plush blankets. Everything is decorated in a cute, Spring green. Very comforting and very clean. Nora came in and began my treatment. First she cleansed my skin with a lemon scented cleanser. She's so gentle! Next was a papaya mask. That was left on for awhile as steam gently blew over my face. Nora removed the mask and gave me a massage on my face, neck and shoulders. Then came a cooling ginsing mask, which felt wonderful! While that was working, she massaged my arms and hands. Then she cleared off the ginsing mask and applied moisturizer that contained a blend of vitamins (A,C,D,E and K, I think). I am leaving to go on a vacation today & I'm stressed, but I NEED to take some time to tell you about Nora and her eyelash extensions! I've had eyelash extensions applied several times over the last few years, but I'm certain that this is the best application I've received! I explained to Nora that I wanted something with "presence" and she did an amazing job. She tailored the lash combination to look great. I'm so happy that I won't have to put on makeup for the next few weeks! Nora herself is welcoming and makes you feel right at home. I never felt like I was a "charge", but rather a friend! We talked the entire time I was there (a little over 2 hours for a full set). She even checks in occasionally to make sure you don't need any water, restroom, etc. I've never had anyone ask me that before. Oh, and there's a lovely pre-eyelash facial cleanse that was so wonderful! Seeing as you can't get them wet for 24 hours, this was a thoughtful part of the service - again I've never had anyone do that! For those of you who have never had eyelash extensions before, I feel Nora would do a great job explaining to you what is happening as she applies them, to make you more at ease (and if you want any more information about what it's like before you go, feel free to message me!) . If you would have asked me 4 month ago about Accent Beauty, I would have given them 5 Stars... But after being a regular customer (going twice a month for 4 months) for eyelash extensions, I ran into some major complications. My first four appointments were comfortable and resulted in glamorous full sets of eyelashes. I was promised that would be applied one at a time to ensure that my natural lashes would not be harmed. The fourth is when problems starting occurring. At the end of the session, "somehow" my lashes had been glued to the pads and were torn away. More were added and it was no big deal. While driving back to work my eyes were tearing and itchy. I looked in the mirror and they were bright red! Keep in mind, you can't get the lashes wet for 24 hrs, so no eyedrops for me. They ended up being red for a WHOLE WEEK! At my next session, I nicely asked if they had changed their procedure, glue, etc. and explained my experience. They said that it was fine, so I went ahead and had my filler session. SAME THING! This time, my lashes fell out so fast (and in chunks!!), they were gone after a week, my eyes were again bloodshot for a week! Stupid me, went in again thinking it was a fluke thing. What was left of my natural lashes were sporadic and pitifully short. I had had very few applied to keep my natural lashes from breaking. Yet again, red eyes for a week and lashes gone in a week. Although their prices are fair and the owner, Nora, is amazing, it is not worth having ZERO eyelashes and a red, crusty lash line. read more

I took advantage of the Accent Groupon that was offered a while back, thanks to work and the holidays, I did not have a chance to use it until yesterday. Friday I decided to book an appointment, thinking I would not be able to get in for a week or so, to my delight there was a late saturday afternoon appointment available, so I snapped it up. I booked for a facial and brow shaping and set to waiting eagerly, Saturday I wandered over to Accent and was greeted very warmly by the girl at the counter as well as a friendly hello called out from the back. Nora was finishing up with her appointment (I was early) and I got to see how wonderfully she interacted with her customers. When she finished up with them she and I talked about my skin issues (dry air, clogged pores) and then we got to work. I made myself comfortable on the table in the back room and Nora let me sniff some masks so I could choose the one I liked (Pumpkin, mmm mm mm!). Then we began what may have been the most relaxing hour or so of my life, I was slathered and wrapped and steamed and massaged, somewhere in there was a painless brow waxing, I seriously barely even noticed it, she is THAT good! I had come in with some puffy redness from one of my products, I had just thought it was normal for me until Nora pointed out that it was gone by the end of my facial. She sent me home with some samples of the Sanitas products she used so that I can pinpoint which of my existing products is causing it. Nora is by far the most educated, talented, and genuine esthetician I've come across in my 27 years. I was in a bind to book a last-minute facial before I went out of town for a wedding and Accent Beauty's online booking service made it quick and easy to get in on the same day! I've had multiple facials throughout the past 10-15 years, but I've never been treated with such care and respect as I did with Nora. You can absolutely tell that she loves what she does and has a true passion for her craft. I came in for the Acne facial, but ended up getting a regular facial in which she only charged me for what I booked for (saved me money!) Her facials are an experience in itself. From the dim lighting, aromatherapy, and soft music - I felt like I was preparing for a massage at a spa! Her head, shoulder, and arm massage is hands down the best I've ever had!! I liked this place. I really wanted to treat myself and get a facial for my wedding, so I researched tons of places until I came across Accent Beauty. They had a first-timer special (I think), so I booked an appointment a couple weeks before my wedding last year. I'd never had a facial before, and being so close to my wedding, my technician suggested that we not go super crazy and risk my skin acting adversely to her treatments. Good plan. Apparently I have super sensitive skin, though, because the mask that she used on my face made my skin BURN - which isn't normal for that kind of mask, I guess. But as soon as I said something, she removed it, and then used a more gentle mask. Much better. I'd be lying if I said I didn't fall asleep from the soothing and lovely face massage. Because I totally did. This place is super super super SMALL, though, and I didn't love that about it. It felt a bit like getting undressed in my neighbor's spare room with no door, so that was a little awkward. The facial was great though, and everyone was nice. Aroma therapy has never effected me much but the smell and feel of the sea tangle/spearmint was so fresh that bought it and the body wash of the same type. I had a facial here yesterday. It was a little tough to actually book the appointment- I called twice and no answer after I booked online to see if they accepted my appointment, as I didn't get a confirmation email. I then physically stopped by; the door was open but no one was at the front desk and I kind of yelled to the back, but no one was there. I called again and no mention was made of my previous appointment I had booked online, so I didn't really worry about it. I have had a ton of facials at both small places (like here), esthetician schools, and the fancy, where you are served lunch and it is tres fancy. Jennifer was relaxing and had a nice touch; I had the facial extraordinaire. They use the Sanitas skin care line which has some nice products. The pumpkin mask tingled and did turn my face red, but once removed, I didn't seem to have any adverse effects- sometimes Sanitas really irritates my sensitive skin, so I was happy a product was chosen that took my sensitive skin into account. She did a great job of waxing my brows. It was a little warm in the room and there was also some problems with the music clicking on and off. It is a good deal for a facial and an eyebrow wax- $70. read more

I decided to give eyelash extensions a test-drive before my wedding in April and found Nora via other Yelp! reviews. She and her team are, without a doubt, amazing. I was immediately put at ease by the environment of the space as Accent Beauty isn't a spa like any other I've experienced. Do you have a face? Then you should try a facial from Accent Beauty! I was a facial newbie until last fall when I had my first one done here during Hawt on Yelp week. My impressions: I'm not sure if every place does this, but you get a nice neck and shoulder rub, and an arm rub down and little hand massage. This is way more relaxing than I thought it would be. Nora is certified in skin care, and not only does she love what she does (you can tell), she's extremely good at it. First timers will fill out paperwork so she can get an idea of your skin type and skin care regimen. At each step, she lets you know just what she's doing and how the product will feel on your face. I really like that she shares information about skin care and products, but in a way that you don't feel obligated to purchase. Plus, Nora is just friendly, energetic, and fun to be around. After my first visit, she recommended that I come back as the seasons change - to sort of give your face a booster, and get it back on track. I can tell you - right now I feel glowy and radiant. That's priceless, ya'll. A few tips: - If you're a contact lens wearer, take those puppies out - I'd recommend making sure you don't have to be somewhere immediately after your facial, since you walk out sans makeup with your hair in disarray. I was sent into a panic (seriously, I'm kind of dramatic) when my go-to esthetician moved her business (and herself, duh) to Florida. Fortunately, I didn't have to panic for long because I found glowing reviews of Accent Beauty. I was able to book my services online and received a reminder/confirmation before my appointment. After my initial brow wax with Natalie, I can say my search for a new go-to is over. As soon as I heard that Natalie's approach to waxing is "conservative," I was won over, since I go for more of the natural brow shape myself. As you know, it's easy for them to take more off if requested, but they can't exactly put more back on. The service itself was nearly painless and the oils, which were chalk full of zinc, greatly reduced any redness that typically goes along with waxing. It seems that the 5 stars are for Nora because my experience was the exact opposite of everyone's listed here. Jennifer was TERRIBLE! I had a Groupon for $65 and signed up for the 60 minute Facial Extraordinaire. From the time I walked in the door, I felt unwelcomed. That aside, I didn't feel the atmosphere was conducive to relaxation or perhaps I expected more from a spa experience. Jennifer was rushed, unprofessional, and rough. Not what I expect from a relaxing facial. The music either kept skipping or she fast forwarded through certain songs. The kicker was that I "paid" for 60 minutes and felt like I was kicked out at 45. I was shocked when she said it was complete, and when I looked at my watch, I was right, it was finished early. My coworker who also purchased the Groupon signed up for future services because Nora was great. I should have listened to her and just waited for Nora to be available....although speaking of, the schedule here is very limited.
