Haven't been here in a really long time and needed to grab a few items really quick. I looked for some hair oil, edge control, and a comb. One of the girls who worked behind the counter followed me from where she was to see if I was stealing. REALLY? I had been in the store less than two minutes. I was so disgusted. The employees are very nice but not very helpful in any way :( I have been going here since I moved to Richmond about 2 years ago and this is the one closest to me but every time I go in there they don't have any stock. They don't have the normal shampoo, conditioner, oils, conditioning packs, edge control, gels, etc that you would expect a beauty supply to have and every time I ask when they are getting a shipment it's always "next month". Usually a good selection. The staff has a high turnover. I never see the same people often. Today I went in and I purchased a hat. The sign by the hats clearly said 20% off but the cashier didn't honor it. And then when I brought it up, I see on the receipt that she only gave 10% when the sign I pointed to CLEARLY said 20%. She had a bad attitude, attempted to dismiss a noted/displayed discount and then didn't honor it. I've also had them not put things I have purchased in my bag and I don't realize it until I get home. Their receipts aren't itemized so you can't argue with them. I'm pretty sure I'm going to stop coming here, which sucks because they are super convenient. But I'm not into dealing with poor customer service, overcharging and blatant disrespect/dismissal. I was really appalled that there was a saw sign posted and this lady acted like it was an imposition and then still refused to honor it. Not a good look. I purchased a curling iron here. The representative told me that the heat settings were adjustable. I was expecting to be able to control the heat based on the numbers on the curling iron dial. When I went to my car and opened the box I realized that the curling iron hand up and down buttons as opposed to a dial. This is important because if you just have up and down buttons, there's no way to know what the actual heat setting is. It was all of 30 seconds from the time that I made the purchase till the time I went back into the store to ask the vendor for a refund. Now their signs are posted no refunds no exchanges. I expected the woman to make a one time exception, since the curling iron was still in the box and had never been used. The woman behind the desk, refused. to give me my money back. She told me that there was no way she can open up the drawer I said, can you call the owner and ask him to make a one time exception he knows me I've stopped here so frequently. She still refused. This was probably my fault, but I will never frequent this store again I'm telling everybody I know don't shop at this place. They are inflexible and mean. Before I left the store, I told the woman behind the counter to memorize my face because she'll never see it again. Arrived here today at 6:15pm, went inside, and they stated that they were closed and shut down the register. Insane! Their stated hours say they close at 6:30pm and I drove quite a distance to get here and now have to reschedule my hair appointment for next weekend. This is quite unprofessional and is not customer centered at all. Manager on duty was Jessica and all she cared about was counting money because she closed the register even prior to 6:15pm. To the owners: If you close at 6:15pm then post online and on the gps that you close at that time instead of 6:30pm. Rude and inattentive sales clerk. one of the reasons I don't frequent beauty supply stores. Owners never hire people knowledgeable about black hair products or black hair care. They don't know how to approach or communicate with black people nor do the value our business. I laid my item n the counter as I was on an important phone I didn't stop talking. The clerk didn't ask if I was ready nor did she greet me. Instead she said, "Is that it?" I became upset and basically stated that this is why I don't shop beauty supplies and normally order products on line and if it wasn't for my sister I wouldn't have patronized them. I was accused of stealing an item I had just purchased by an older Asian woman employee. I was in the midst of putting my item away and decided to go look at a wig I was considering beforehand when she storms toward me saying: "WHAT YOU PUT IN YOUR PURSE, I SEE YOU STEALING". I just stare her down in her own stupidity and prejudice as I pull my receipt & item out. It was my first time being accused of stealing and I actually got teary eyed after as I was kinda shocked and hurt. I would go there a lot. She then apologizes and offers me a sample of conditioner. I decline her offer and suggest she develop more respect for her customers and the city your business is in because WITHOUT US Y'ALL ARE CANCELED. It's just ridiculous. We need other beauty owned business who appreciate hair, beauty and the ppl of the community. These folks are so prejudice (They hide it of course) it's amazing they're still in business. I will NEVER be back. All the beauty supplies in the Richmond area have AWFUL, discriminative employees. So unfortunate, C'mon y'all! Have got to do better.
