I came to charm after struggling with my skin for a full year, after having amazing skin. I had tried everything and nothing seemed to be working. I decided to give facials a try to seek professional help. Before this I had done extensive research on skin and like I mentioned previously had my hands on multiple products but nothing was the right fit. The extractions were extremely painful which alarmed me instantly but I had never gotten a facial and didn't know any better. Extractions may be discomforting but should never be painful. Also when doing extractions you're supposed to gently extract until all puss, then blood and finally when the congestion is clear you will see a clear fluid. This clear fluid is called "serous fluid" it's important to clear the sac until you see this fluid or else the sac will fill up again and cause even more inflammation. Therefore defeating the purpose of doing an extraction in the first place. I don't believe this protocol was followed because I was left with painful swollen pimples on my forehead that weren't visible before my visit. Which left me feeling even more insecure. Trusting someone with my skin was a huge step for me and I am dissatisfied and disappointed. I understand results may not have been instant but I shouldn't have been in pain and left with more skin imperfections then when I laid down. I don't believe the right procedure was followed. I do plan to follow up with someone who may be more knowledgeable and hopefully find something that works for my skin. In response to charm: I understand extractions can cause discomfort but they were making me almost want to cry and they should never be that painful extractions should have some discomfort but there should never be pain. you also didn't drain the entire inflammation which left me with more pimples and more scarring due to how harsh your technique was . When doing extractions you were supposed to drain the pus and then all blood until the oil is present and you did not do that which left the pimple even more inflamed. My cheeks were permanently scarred and I still have to seek professional help to get that prepared due to what you did.

However, like most people have said every technician in this place is going to try to upsell you. I found this particular really offputting, but once I declined a more expensive service I wasn't asked again. I did spring for the nail dipping powder and I'm happy with the results. Jennifer did a really good job shaping and filing my nails but overall I thought the manicure itself was pretty basic. As far as my pedicure Jennifer did a really good job cutting, filing, and shaping but then she cut my cuticles and they started to bleed. Generally I would leave the salon at this point, however Jennifer was sure to address her mistake and she didn't just try to painting over the blood like I have experienced with some other technicians at other salons in Laurel that I've tried, and so for this I let her complete the service. When' she put on the two colors I requested I realize they didn't match the way that I thought they would. So, I asked her to change the color on my big toe. She then painted over my already painted toe with the second color and the nail polish became really chunky and clumpy. So then I asked her to remove all the nail polish off my big toes and just paint it with the second color I had asked for. She seemed a little annoyed, but she did it without verbally complaining. While I wish she would've just done this herself without my asking, I do appreciate that she complied with my request. Overall, like I said I'm happy with the way things turned out in the end although the process itself had both positive and negative aspects. But, I will be back to give Jennifer another try. If things go better next time this might become my regular salon. PS. I felt that everything was clean and sanitary. I paid $28 for a basic pedicure and $45 for the dip powder manicure.

I refused -- I wasn't wasting more time on the sloppy job they gave me. A manager started removing the polish, then another tech pulled me to her station and immediately started doing a gel manicure I never asked for. I told her I originally got dip and wanted dip again. She ignored me and kept going. When she finished, she said "you like?" and only then told me they "don't have off‑white in dip." No one bothered to simply ask me to pick another dip color. On top of that, several staff members stood around speaking in Vietnamese while staring at me like the bad work was somehow my fault. The whole vibe was dismissive and unprofessional. Dirty salon, careless work, and zero accountability. Their 2.3 rating is accurate. First and last time.

Still, I was refused service and told I needed a doctor's note upon arrival. Or to be off actives for 30 days. This has never been an issue before at any other location. First time at the Laurel location. I usually go to College Park or Silver Spring. I had to scramble and get my brows threaded elsewhere that night. I asked for the manager's contact and called the next day to express my frustration. I explained everything. She said the waxer was a new employee. I told her I'd sign a waiver of liability if needed, but I wasn't stopping my actives for longer than a week nor bringing in a doctor's note. I also asked to use my now expired birthday coupon beyond the expiration date and my request was honored. I went back after my trip for my eyebrows to be cleaned up as they were still in good shape from getting them threaded three weeks ago. Smooth appointment until checkout, when the front desk staff tried to charge me. I reminded her it was supposed to be complimentary, gave the manager's name who booked the appointment, and had her verify it. Apparently there were no notes in my appointment. There were other customers in the waiting room. Awkward. What if the manager hadn't answered the call? It would have been my word with no backing and an embarrassment. While this location is convenient, I'm not sure I will frequent it. Two out of two visits have required calling the manager. Not a welcoming experience.
