For more than eight years, I have not had dental insurance, yet Dr. Dorsey and his team have often worked with me to help make necessary dental care more affordable. I have always appreciated that. I also want to give a special thank you to Julia, the dental hygienist. She is wonderful, compassionate, gentle, and consistently does an outstanding job. She is one of the reasons I continued coming back. Unfortunately, my experience with the front office has changed significantly. I referred a former friend to the practice, and her dental treatment later had complications because she did not follow the post-procedure instructions she was given. After I ended that friendship, I began noticing a dramatic change in how I was treated by the office staff. Whether those events are related or not, the difference has been hard to ignore. Over the past several months, I have been given conflicting information, have been told things that later turned out to be untrue, and, most frustratingly, my phone calls have gone unanswered or unreturned. The male and female at the front desk know exactly who they are. On multiple occasions, they assured me they would call me back, yet those calls never came. I should not have to call a dental office seven different times just to get an answer or a simple return phone call. That level of communication is unacceptable, especially for someone who has been a loyal patient for many years. I do not know whether Dr. Dorsey is aware of what has been happening. My concerns are directed at the front office, not at him or Julia. I truly hope he sees this review because I believe he would want to know if long-time patients feel overlooked. My overall impression is that if you have excellent insurance or the financial means to pay for treatment without concern, you will likely have a very good experience. However, if you are uninsured or are trying to manage the cost of dental care, you may not receive the same level of attention and communication that I once experienced. It saddens me to write this because I have genuinely valued this practice for many years. I only hope this feedback encourages some reflection. Every patient, regardless of their insurance status or financial situation, deserves to feel heard, respected, and valued. Sometimes it's worth remembering the people who supported a practice long before things became more successful.

Things changed after I was given a treatment plan in 2025. I had questions about recommended work and was told to email the owner/Doctor directly. I sent a detailed email but never received a response. At later visits, I continued to be pressured to proceed with the treatment plan even after declining. During one visit, the office manager even asked if I knew what a cavity was, which I found dismissive and insulting. I also noticed they wanted me to come in more frequently than my husband because I had older fillings they wanted to monitor. My previous dentist in New York never required extra visits for this, so I declined and kept my regular six-month schedule. The final straw came in 2026 when I went in for a routine cleaning. I explained I was having another doctor keep up with my fillings, I only wanted a cleaning. Instead, I was told by Amy that I had to get new X-rays first because the doctor could supposedly lose her license otherwise (which is a lie). When I questioned that explanation, I was then told it was because the doctor was new and needed updated X-rays. My previous X-rays were only about a year old, so this didn't make sense to me. Overall, the practice left me feeling like insurance billing and selling additional treatment had become a higher priority than patient care. Every visit involved pressure to accept treatment or orthodontic services, even after repeated refusals. After years of positive experiences with multiple dentists in New York, this was the first office where I felt I couldn't receive a simple cleaning without being pressured into additional procedures. The issues began before my wife's appointment with Kimmie in the front office. She insisted our insurance wouldn't cover the CBCT scan because "my wife already had one this year." We told her that was my claim, not my wife's. Instead of checking properly, she argued with us for nearly 10 minutes, suggesting the other dentist billed incorrectly or that we just didn't remember. I ended up calling the insurance myself and then doing a three-way call with the insurance agent, who confirmed that the benefits were available for my wife. The agent also made it clear that Kimmie only looked online and did not check the correct channels to get accurate information. When my wife finally saw Dr. Ryan, she wasn't given any options -- just told "here's what needs to be done," shown a cartoon diagram of the procedure, and then redirected to other issues she wasn't even there for. He claimed her gums were "super inflamed" and that she had "tons of plaque," which was confusing because she had been seen by her regular dentist just two weeks prior and received a clean bill of health. To make matters worse, a second periodontist confirmed just days later that her gums were healthy. This makes the service seem sketchy and our right "sellsy". Next issue: getting antibiotics for an implant-tooth infection on a Friday morning. The receptionist (not the doctor) told my wife it "wasn't the implant" and acted like she didn't need antibiotics at all -- again, giving medical advice with no evaluation. This level of care -- or lack thereof -- is unacceptable. I work in the medical field. I know how insurance works. Our office always verifies benefits, but this office seems to place everything on the patient to figure out. When presenting the treatment plan, they openly said they didn't call insurance but "they'll pay something, so you'll just be excited when they do." Meanwhile, they required 35% up front, which could easily be more than what we actually owe -- leaving us to fight for a refund later. That is absolutely not how a practice should operate. We will never return and cannot recommend this office to anyone.
