I have been a patient here for a couple of years now and the care is so inconsistent. I feel like I am always complaining about something so maybe its me. I went today for a cleaning g and had to stop the hygienist about 3/4 of the way through because he just kept hurting me. He crushed my lips against my teeth with the mirror thing while trying to get at my back teeth. My gums haven't bled in years due to a cleaning but today they did. My hair and shirt were all wet because he didn't stop to suction out my mouth when he switched over to the water because I was complaining about him being so rough with the dental tools. There was so much water in my mouth that I gagged causing him to spray that high powered water thing on my lips which felt like they were cut ( they weren't luckily) . The other hygienist that I usually have is not rough like this. This guy needs to go back to school. This appointment.was a reschedule because when I arrived for the original appointment I was.told there would be about an hour wait because the were running late. This is not the first time they were "running late". They apologize but problems always seem to arise. Then I get my patient summary and it says they did this, that and the other thing which is not at all what they did. What a joke of a practice! Came here for an exam and teeth cleaning. They took my X-rays and then told me instead of the $60 new patient cleaning that I had some sort of gum health problem and my cleaning was going to be $244 for the day and I have 3 cavities. Keep in mind that I always have the regular cleanings done every 6 months (at a dentist in Arizona) and I haven't had cavities in years. I left without getting my cleaning. I let the front desk know that I didn't feel comfortable and wanted a second opinion. I had to cancel the rest of my family's appointments as we are a family of 6. As I was making the cancellations the lady said well three smaller kids will def qualify for the $59 new patient so why not just leave their appointment so they can get their cleaning. I guess I wasn't thinking correctly that day and I agreed. I went to lake Butler dentist and they were able to give me the regular $59 new patient special. They had to take more X-rays as the ones this office did were blurry. So I paid $59 instead of $244. It's turns out that I did indeed have the 3 cavities however what was costing me $1100 to fill them here was $700 there. Regardless of all that I still honored my kids appointment with doctor Phillips office. I got them from school early to drive the 34 mins each way. When I got there they said the dr wasn't in and someone was supposed to have called to cancel. Nobody ever called me. I think Dr. Song is an amazing Dentist, but his staff is really bad. They are overcharging by thousands of dollars and not giving the discount per agreement with your insurance company. His new office manager told me that if they get money from the insurance company, it goes to the back office and it doesn't get deleted from your total that you owe him. I'm not even sure what his name was, but he was very gentle and kind. He made me feel at ease, but maybe that's why I ended up spending over $500 on something I didn't even need. Dentist was pushy and they even had a sales woman there to lead you in the direction of spending more money than needed. They told me I needed an "irrigation" which was painful and a waste of time. I was told I was getting a crown for a cavity that never bothered me before coming here (now I'm actually in pain from 4 months ago). I went to a new dentist that told me I got a filling, not a crown. This new dentist also told me that I didn't need irrigation (I only had one side done, so she could see that I didn't need it). I found this place roughly 2 yrs ago after looking at many different dentists. Even though my first appointment there kept me in the office for at least 5 hrs (waiting for teeth cleaning, waiting after the teeth cleaning for a crown), I still gave them the benefit of the doubt because they seemed nice. I was being patient in having to take care of things before getting braces, which I want. I even got my husband to come here. For the last appointment that I even had in 2021, I had to reschedule it due to a schedule change at work. So I have experienced this Denistry beginning 2017 and had a pleasant experience at the very beginning. Unfortunately I had a revisit on work that was performed in 2021 and paid out of pocket as I awaited for reimbursement from my Insurance. I have called multiple times and spoke with multiple allergy office managers of which none have ever followed through on their position. I called last time April 15, 2022 requesting for my claim to be submitted. I was guarantee by the New Office Manager of which she advise me a refund would be return give it at least 5 to 7 business days. As of May 1, 2022 the claim has not been submitted and my insurance has nothing from this office. This is the best wise advise Do Not use this office if you can avoid doing so. I had to find a new dentist (again) because my insurance changed this year. I do a lot of research before making a decision, and I liked what I saw about this group. I was able to make an appointment just a few weeks out from when I called, which made me very happy. Everyone was super friendly. The X-rays were a breeze in comparison to some places' super painful ones. I saw Dr. Patel who was very kind and friendly. He explained everything to me before he did it, which was a nice change from most dentists. I didn't feel like I he was trying to sell me on anything either and I wasn't pushed to have any unnecessary procedures, like I've seen some people say. After the visit with Dr. Patel I had my teeth cleaning. It was quick and easy. The hygienist was very knowledgeable and kind as well. I was even able to pick my own tv channel while she worked :) My insurance covered the whole visit and the whole appointment only took 1hr15m. read more

05/18/2023 My mom visited the office and paid for future appointments. She now relocated to a different city and will not be continuing the treatment. But the office will not refund the overpayment. The receptionist said she has to check with the manager and will call back. It has been 4 times I called and never received the call back. All I am asking is to refund me the payment that you did not provide service for. Not sure why it is so difficult. I am willing to go to state dental board. 05/18/2023 update : I called them again and they put me on hold for 30 mins. Then, they let it go to the voice-mail. I called them back again, they answered and put me on hold for another 45mins. And hung up on me immediately. I called them back again and finally got through to Annie. Received a call from Annie (office manager) to review itemized bill. She shared me screen-shots of the bill but I requested to send me to my mail so that I can properly review and forward to appropriate entities. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS (because there definitely will be some, even if you have insurance). Like many have said who posted a review, this place is a scam. I went in for a standard cleaning fully covered by my insurance. The people were very nice, which now I realize is a tactic they use to get more money out of you. They took me back to get X-rays, and it took the woman about 20 minutes just to get my X-rays because although she was nice, she didn't know what she was doing. Finally, after that, they took me to a back room where I laid in the chair waiting for the dentist. I waited for a long time before the dentist finally came in and "evaluated my teeth." He told me that he recommended that I get a gingivitis scale and pitched some scare tactic about how it may not matter now, but it will be a bigger deal when I'm not young anymore. I told him that I was there for a dental cleaning covered by my insurance, and I didn't want to pay anything on top of that. Then, they brought in an estimate of what it would cost, which was $150 (the same that it costs to get a full cleaning.) Again, I said no I didn't want to get that because I didn't want to pay for that. The lady then was like "let me see if I can get this lowered." She comes back in with a quote for $50, which I finally said was okay because at that point, I really thought it would be worth it if they were going to thoroughly clean my teeth. After laying there for some more time, a very nice lady came in and started doing some very standard cleaning on my teeth for only less than 10 minutes. Then she said: "okay." And I was like: "Wait. That was it?" And she was like "yep. I got deeper under your gums." At this point, I had been there for an hour and 20 minutes and just wanted to get out of there because I felt very uneasy about what had just happened. I paid my $50 and left and then sat in my car trying not to cry thinking about what had just happened. They made me pay $50 on a cleaning that was supposed to be completely covered by my insurance, only to do way less of a cleaning than I had experienced at other dentist offices that were completely covered by insurance. Barely any cleaning at all. I felt so cheated, stupid, and sad that they had taken advantage of me like that when I had repeated several times that I was struggling financially and didn't want to pay for anything not covered by my insurance. I felt coerced into spending money and pressured by scare tactics and relentlessness, despite saying no several times. I am so hurt by what they did to me, knowing that I'm struggling financially. I paid for a cleaning that was supposed to be fully covered by my insurance and lasted less than 10 minutes. I wouldn't even call it a cleaning. DO NOT GO HERE. They will pressure you into paying for things you don't need and will take advantage of you. I have called them several times and emailed them twice asking if I could please just get my $50 back (which is nice, considering that one of my two cleanings a year was completely wasted on their sleazy "dentist office.") I have yet to have heard from them. I am hurt that they took advantage of me like that and pressured me into something I did not want to do and didn't even carry it out in the end. She was there for a routine cleaning that she gets twice a year. Her insurance pays for 2 a year like most. They told her no,she needs a deep cleaning or nothing . Deep cleaning isn't covered and over $700. She is a 2nd grade teacher struggling to get by as it is. The one star is because the admin staff are absolutely terrible. You are treated like an inconvenience. They dont care much to explain something or answer any questions. I had to pay for an appointment in advance and when I asked why I got nothing but attitude. I had to go to Dr Song to figure out why. I have shown up for a cleaning only for my appointment to not exist. I was waiting for a crown and was told I would be called when it was done, in about 2 weeks. I called 4 weeks later and was left on hold for 30mins and couldn't wait longer. Called 2 weeks after that and when I asked to speak to who was responsible for not calling me and what happened why wasn't I called. I got canned, rude, underhanded "apologies". I only chose this place because Dr. Garcia could see me that same day I made the appointment and I was in so much pain that I was afraid to put it off. (My normal dentist couldn't see me for three weeks.) The care here is outstanding. They listened to all my issues and easily found the problem and offered a solution. Everyone was so kind and answered all of my questions so that I understood. And they were also very understanding and accommodating of the fact that I'm terrible about getting x-rays done. This has literally been the worst experience at the dentist. Before I begin, I went to a different dentist office and had a second opinion on everything and can confirm that this office has no idea what they are doing. Here is a summary if you don't want to read everything: Throughout the whole process Dr Patel did not listen to my concerns. I felt like he thought I was being over dramatic about tooth pain or about how high my crown felt on my tooth. My teeth cleaning was poor and I have to get them recleaned by a different dentist office. Modern Dentistry missed several cavities I had. If I did not go to a different dentist my cavities and oral health would have gotten much worse. I came in expecting to get a a cleaning and a cavity filled because I was feeling sensitivity and when I came in Dr Patel told me I needed a root canal. The receptionist told me my insurance covered most of it but I will still need to pay $950 which I agreed and had me open a credit card for it. Then Dr Patel stated he wanted to "prep" my tooth and put a temporary crown so I wouldn't feel discomfort till my root canal appointment 2 weeks later. I agreed and was there for 4 and a half hrs. He had a lot of trouble numbing me so for the majority of the time I was in pain with him trying to work on my tooth and me saying it still hurts and him having to give me another injection. Finally he was able to work on my tooth and put on the temporary crown and did the cleaning. But that is not the end of this horrible experience. My tooth hurt so much more then it did before. I was waking up in the middle of the night with horrible pain and had to be prescribed two different pain killers. I couldn't wait 2 weeks for my root canal so I went to another dentist who was able to refer me to a root canal specialist same day and was covered 100% by my insurance. When I brought up the price difference at modern dentistry the receptionist said my insurance covered everything. So I opened a new credit card for no reason and was given incorrect information. I had to come back to Modern dentist to have my permanent crown put on and the crown was too tall. Dr Patel had already glued this crown on before asking me how it felt. It was dramatically tall to the point the other side of my teeth didn't touch. I told the Dr it's too tall several times and he only shaved down a little bit and even shaved down my perfectly fine tooth on the top of my mouth. Still I told him it was too high. He told me he didn't want to shave the crown anymore because it'll make the crown week and that I should try to adjust. I went to work and instantly was in pain trying to eat. It was so tall I could not even eat soft potatoes. I went back to the other dentist office begging them to just transfer me over which they did. They shaved down my crown perfectly and redid my exam. When he did the exam the Dr was shocked I even had a cleaning because there was so much tarter left on my teeth. He also stated I had 6 more cavities then Modern Dentistry said I did (Modern said I had 1). In conclusion, I ended up spending way more money to get my teeth fixed by a different dentist after Modern Dentistry did it wrong and had to miss a bunch of work over the last two weeks to do so. Be aware this place is a scam, they will add additional charges for services not listed on your agreement after date of service. They give you a financial agreement printout with outrages charges and the patient summary report (services match the EOB), make you pay, but when the EOB comes back and you are responsible for less they refuse to refund you and send you in a never ending loop around. The billing/account manager Anne/Annie, has no customer service skills, does not follow up not even to acknowledge that she received documents. To begin with, the office is situated in a great part of town in a brand new development and lies in between many stores including Whole Foods, Pei Wei and a nice sushi restaurant, among many others. Parking is easily accessible. The office is brand new with great natural lighting, modern design with wood flooring, flat screen TV's and an iPad situated near the check-in area. The front office staff is extremely friendly with great communicative skills. The clientele was suburban including young children. Once called back after initial check-in, you'll find multiple state-of-the-art dental chairs (and dental equipment) each outfitted with their own flat screen TV with Direct TV cable access to hundreds of channels. In terms of the dental care, the care was prompt and of high quality. Dr. Song was trained at a top notch dental school in Boston, MA and it shows. His technical skills are superior to prior dentists I have come across in the past. In addition, he offers unbiased advice without any pressuring whatsoever and delivers great results. Everyone in this office was exceptional, from Dr. Jainandan, to the dental assistant, office staff, and office manager. Every single person was wonderful. I'm not a fan of going to the dentist, but I have to admit, I had a great experience. Everything was clean and modern, everything was explained to me in detail, everyone was kind and helpful, even the receipt at the end of the visit was handed to me in a nice folder. All of those small touches added to my experience. I value efficiency and I can't stand having my time wasted. Luckily, I did not have to wait long for my appointment and I got everything I needed to have done in one visit. Highly recommend! read more
