I was asked to review this contractor after he remodeled my kitchen. The kitchen cabinets and countertops we got from the cabinet store. The appliances we got from the Sears outlet. We paid directly for these. The kitchen looks great. My only word of caution is I was quoted 5,000 and a weeks time. When it was all said and done we paid over 9,000 and it took a month and a half. Some of the extra expenses were for: redoing the flooring, painting (I paid for the supplies), removing the old cabinets/dishwasher, and replacing the Sheetrock. None of these items were included in the original quote, but would seem obvious things that need to be done. So sit down and have a conversation about the "extras" that will come up. Expect to pay significantly more than agreed on and for it to take a lot longer. read more

Angel worked on our home (French drain, retaining wall, regrade and level lawn) and the bottom line is he does honest work for honest pay. In my experience he did everything I asked and got it done in half the time we expected. I observed almost every part of the work and freely communicated (in-person and text) with him. Angel and his crew started off working on my back yard. He tore out the existing concrete and replaced with new concrete. They also placed an in-ground basketball hoop, two planters for some trees I purchased (and planted the trees for me), re-sized a small retaining wall I had in the corner of my yard, and added artificial turf. All the work is completed and my family and I could not be happier with the outcome. In addition to that work, my neighbor and I decided to get the fence done as it was already pretty old. The fence is done and I know I am very happy with everything! His work doesn't stop there as he and his crew have now power washed the entire exterior of my home and will be working on replacing dry rot, then painting the trim, and cleaning all the windows. I didn't even want to give Angel one (1) star. His work is worthless and sloppy. I had my house painted and a bathroom remodeled costing me over $30,000. My bathroom remodel was full of mistakes, the granite I requested to be installed was supposed to be one full sheet; but instead he purchased two sheets and installed it informing me that one sheet of granite (8 feet in height) was not available. Later, he came back and said he can correct the problem. Also, the flooring in the bathroom was done incorrectly; he used brown grout on grey tiles. He corrected the problem half way, leaving me with an unfinished flooring. He painted the exterior of my house and it's already looking as though my house was painted 10 years ago. Please note that all this work was done in October 2021. Do not use him, he also had me purchased lunch for his crew a few times when I did agree to buy them lunch once. read more

Angel and his team did an excellent job on our yard clean up "plus". Angel was communicative, on time, quoted a fair price, available quickly, and was good to work with. He kept us informed on progress each day -- although the progress was clear to see. He also provided "after" photos when the work was done, which was a nice touch :) Large loads of garden debris were cleared and taken to the dump; weeded and removed old, overgrown/dead shrubs; trees were pruned throughout (and look amazing!); old retaining walls shored up; built and finished a few steps we hadn't got around to; hung trellis and built a raised bed to go with it; power washed all areas and stained our deck/outside stairs. We had a couple of small issues and misunderstandings -- nothing major, but Angel went out of his way to make good and compromised where he could. We also queried his original quote and he was willing to negotiate. We appreciated that. Angel is friendly, reliable and we appreciate his work and work ethic. He was recommended to us by a close neighbor and he does work for several people in our neighborhood -- which is a recommendation in itself. Angel started off over 20 years ago as our house painter and since that time he has also been our general contractor, at our house and at two nearby rental properties. His prices are at the low end of the bid spectrum and I agree with another reviewer, the outcome of any project has a lot to do with the quality of materials selected, so we tend to purchase those separately and pay Angel for the "labor." Last weekend Angel's guys came over and did a major landscaping cleanup (ivy, tree removal, digging) on our double lot, in one day as promised. As a comparison, the other two bids we collected both said two days would be necessary to complete the job; Angel's bid was 15% lower than the next lowest and 40% lower than the highest bid received. In my experience working with Angel, this is typical. They brought their own tools as usual, and left the place immaculate. I know sometimes Angel overbooks his schedule but I have no problem saying that even when problems come up, he always circles back and eventually completes things to our satisfaction. And I can't even count the times he's dropped everything on a Sunday and shown up in his soccer uniform to clear a sewer line or fix a toilet at a rental property. Over the years I estimate we've saved 20-30% in labor costs, and if that's the trade-off, I'll take it. read more

Angel did great work installing our bathroom vanity. We got vanity from Home Depot and it turned out broken when we opened it. He waited patiently as we went back to Home Depot to exchange it. Beware of this contractor. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Very unreliable. Seems as if he pulls open things and makes more work. Work is also very shoddy and cuts corners on materials. Improper plumbing work on our bath remodel. Closed off some necessary vents. Tub was leaking less than half a week. Brought wrong cabinets and wanted to change the door. Toilet leaked as well. BEWARE OF THIS CONTRACTOR..... We hired Angel to do a myriad of tasks in our home. In the beginning he shows up ready to work. He and his guys are very capable but like many contractors they tend to be flaky and unreliable. The prices he quotes are also very reasonable (too reasonable), but he will try to cut corners on materials and get you to do additional work with the lure of "low prices". He comes across as decent initially and likes to "make a deal" with you to get additional work. Beware, if you agree to a plan make sure he sticks to the plan and do not let him start any other projects until the initial work is complete to satisfaction. He over books his sub-contractors so heavily that it is difficult to get your projects done on time or at all. He also focuses his attention on the more lucrative projects and leaves a laundry list of smaller tasks to the end with the intent of NEVER RETURNING to complete. He instructs his guys to cut corners wherever they can so you have to watch them like a hawk. By the end (and after he has your money) he is a NO Show, hard to reach and is shady. Do not leave them unattended or unsupervised for a minute otherwise you will get shoddy work. I was told that he stiffs his sub-contractors and lies to them saying that the home owner doesn't want to pay him. Taking advantage of workers and home owners is not cool and retribution will surely come your way. I know this is sadly typical of many contractor experiences. So just ADD this guy to the list of Unethical and unreliable contractors. And if you do use him.....proceed with caution!!!!! read more

I hired Angel to install a fence in my yard and do some landscaping. Since I didn't know anything about him I asked him if I could see a job he was currently working on. He took me to one of his jobs and I spoke to the owner who said great things about him, and from what I could see he did great work on putting up concrete walls, laying stone, and landscaping. But when he started working on my fence, which he charged a lump sum for, he started to cut corners. His crew did shoddy work & did not follow instructions. He did the work 4 years ago and the fence is now leaning toward my neighbors yard b/c he didn't shore up the 3 ft high retaining wall properly. Portions of the fence are separating from the posts and the spacing between slats is not what I asked for. I cut the job short when I could see things going wrong. So I didn't have him do the landscaping or irrigation. Bottom line; he will give you a decent quote for a job, but you'll end up paying more in the long run. read more

He tends to point out things that need to be fixed and for us it was a great motivation to move from small projects to larger ones as I discovered that the quality of his work was quite high. Recently on the advice of a friend who knows him very well, and said that he is really working hard to regain his trust in business, I hired him to modify my garage door opening to accommodate a new RV.
