A robe, slippers and a spa bag for my belongings was already prepared - a nice touch. I started with the salt cave experience. It was relaxing and I was cautioned that anything I brought into the room would have a salt residue afterwards. I didn't really notice a salt residue at all, even on my wet hair. The spa music and the lounge chair did make for a quiet transition from my busy morning into peaceful relaxing mode. Afterwards, I enjoyed a bit of time in the relaxation room. For hot tea, each day they have both a caffeinated and a decaffeinated option. It was served on a cute tray with honey and sugar options. Last, my 90 minute massage. A choice of scalp massage or foot massage was offered and I opted for the foot massage without hesitation. I requested medium pressure and only asked once for a bit less pressure in a sensitive area of my lower back, and my therapist was quick to adjust. I chose the lavender blend massage oil and it smelled lovely. Special attention was paid to my shoulders where I carry most of my tension. Having booked only a couple of days in advance, I did make a deposit of 50% up front and was already within the cancellation window. If more than one service is confirmed, a 20% gratuity for each is automatically added but that was well explained up front and during check out. I noticed a list of monthly membership options during checkout and I'm actually considering joining. It was easy to get an appointment and very relaxing, though I'd probably skip the salt cave and go right to the massage or opt for a facial next time.

I booked a rooftop couples massage a month in advance. When we arrived, they told us the rooftop was closed, even though they had already taken my deposit for this service. The weather was perfect, they then offered to set up the rooftop quickly if I paid an extra $200. The manager rushed me to make a decision on the spot about whether I wanted to pay extra for the rooftop or move to a very small, not aesthetically pleasing room instead. This completely took away from what was supposed to be a relaxing experience and didn't make sense because this was the service I originally booked. The management and staff aren't professional or accommodating. Very strange experience. Following up on Kristy's message here: Urbanna spa accepted a deposit for a rooftop spa appointment. The only reason I booked with Urbanna spa was for the rooftop experience. I intentionally booked on the first day of spring, the weather was 77° with sunny skies and they told me the rooftop was closed after I arrived and checked in. I asked to reschedule on a day the rooftop was open, but no staff could confirm when the rooftop would be open. Kristy (who was not present during my appointment) claims alternative options were offered. Just want to clarify that this is also not true. The only option they gave me tiny room I've attached. I was told management would follow up with a call after my service but Kristy's comment below is the only follow up I've ever received from Urbanna spa. This is not your traditional spa experience. If you're used to high end spa experiences, this will feel very low quality. I highly recommend Woodhouse or Spa At Ballantyne if you're looking for that high-quality experience. Thank you, Kristy, your comments below are a perfect illustration of the quality of service at Urbana.

My honest review with a letter system…read more Booking: A I called and it was easy to book. There was an appointment for less than a week later which was perfect. Salon ambiance: A. It was spacious with enough room between each chair. There was 2000's music playing. It was clean: someone was coming around sweeping up hair and picking up dirty towels frequently. It was a nice facility. The service: A- I got a highlight and haircut. It was a typical service for what i wanted. She washed my hair and even curled it which was nice. She was a little rough when pulling out the foils and I was in pain for some of the time lol. The product: D+ It had been a while since i had gotten highlights and i told her I wanted to go a lot lighter. She told me she wasn't going to be able to get me as blonde as I wanted, it would take a few sessions. I appreciated having that heads up, but then once I got home, it didn't really even look like much was done besides a root touch up. People I see daily didn't even notice I had gotten anything done. I also didn't ask for layers and my hair is not all the same length. Price: D- I was appalled with the price. When I called, I asked how much the service I wanted would be and she couldn't give me an exact price but she said they have different levels of experience starting at $150. I opted for the middle level so was expecting to pay between $150-$200. When I checked out, it was $290 before tip just for a highlight and trim. She also told me she would put a bottle of conditioner she wanted me to use up at the front for me. She never asked me if I wanted it or anything, so I expected a sample bottle for cheap or complimentary. When checking out, I noticed on my bill it was a $40 bottle and I was upset that I was never given the option to not purchase it, so just be careful of that. So after tip and this product, it was $400 for a product I wasn't even exactly happy with. Because of this, I will not be returning.

At times, the attitudes can feel a bit harsh, but the owners are very sweet and professional. Just keep in mind that they do not take walk-ins close to closing, even for simple services, so it's best to plan ahead. Overall, it's a good nail salon in the area, and I love that they offer drinks like wine, soda, or water during your service.

I went in with my 5-year-old daughter, three teenage sisters, and my stepmom to celebrate my birthday with manicures and pedicures. I called ahead to book the appointment, and Mimi was fantastic in organizing everything to ensure we were all set. Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed by how clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed the salon was. The staff wore matching uniforms, the towels were embroidered with the business name, choice of vitamin-infused salt bath for your pedicure, and there was even a mini bar set up for special events. We were given choices of water, tea, coffee, juice, wine or champagne (I ordered a mimosa of course!). It was clear they take great pride in their space and service. However, there were some issues that affected our experience. My daughter's manicure and pedicure started to disintegrate after just two days, which was disappointing. I took her back to have it redone, and while the staff was accommodating, it was still a hassle. My shellac manicure, which I've had done many times without issue, also started lifting and chipping after just one week, which was unusual for me since I'm used to it lasting 3-4 weeks with no problems. What really added to the frustration was the delay in my stepmom's service. She had trouble with her technician, who wasn't familiar with shellac, and after everyone else was finished, we had to wait for someone else to redo hers. This pushed us over an hour late for our birthday lunch in Uptown and set off a domino effect, causing us to be late for the rest of our planned events. The service was great, the salon's cleanliness and atmosphere were top-notch, and the staff was friendly and professional despite these setbacks. I'm willing to give Alo Nail Salon another shot as it may have just been an off day, especially knowing I've had shellac manicures last for weeks in the past and not to assume 2 hours would be enough for a mani/pedi. I'd recommend it with a bit more caution and extra communication next time--especially if you have a hard stop for time-sensitive plans.
