Lovely massage service! My first time here was delightful and relaxing. On arrival, I was offered beverages and waited just moments before being whisked away to the ladies changing room. A robe, slippers and a spa bag for my belongings was already prepared - a nice touch. I started with the salt cave experience. It was relaxing and I was cautioned that anything I brought into the room would have a salt residue afterwards. I didn't really notice a salt residue at all, even on my wet hair. The spa music and the lounge chair did make for a quiet transition from my busy morning into peaceful relaxing mode. Afterwards, I enjoyed a bit of time in the relaxation room. For hot tea, each day they have both a caffeinated and a decaffeinated option. It was served on a cute tray with honey and sugar options. Last, my 90 minute massage. A choice of scalp massage or foot massage was offered and I opted for the foot massage without hesitation. I requested medium pressure and only asked once for a bit less pressure in a sensitive area of my lower back, and my therapist was quick to adjust. I chose the lavender blend massage oil and it smelled lovely. Special attention was paid to my shoulders where I carry most of my tension. Having booked only a couple of days in advance, I did make a deposit of 50% up front and was already within the cancellation window. If more than one service is confirmed, a 20% gratuity for each is automatically added but that was well explained up front and during check out. I noticed a list of monthly membership options during checkout and I'm actually considering joining. It was easy to get an appointment and very relaxing, though I'd probably skip the salt cave and go right to the massage or opt for a facial next time. read more

If you're used to high-end spa experiences, you will be disappointed. It's small, there are no amenities included with the services, and even simple things like warming the hot oils had to be requested instead of being part of the normal experience. I booked a rooftop couples massage a month in advance. When we arrived, they told us the rooftop was closed, even though they had already taken my deposit for this service. The weather was perfect, they then offered to set up the rooftop quickly if I paid an extra $200. The manager rushed me to make a decision on the spot about whether I wanted to pay extra for the rooftop or move to a very small, not aesthetically pleasing room instead. This completely took away from what was supposed to be a relaxing experience and didn't make sense because this was the service I originally booked. The management and staff aren't professional or accommodating. Very strange experience. Following up on Kristy's message here: Urbanna spa accepted a deposit for a rooftop spa appointment. The only reason I booked with Urbanna spa was for the rooftop experience. I intentionally booked on the first day of spring, the weather was 77° with sunny skies and they told me the rooftop was closed after I arrived and checked in. I asked to reschedule on a day the rooftop was open, but no staff could confirm when the rooftop would be open. Kristy (who was not present during my appointment) claims alternative options were offered. Just want to clarify that this is also not true. The only option they gave me tiny room I've attached. I was told management would follow up with a call after my service but Kristy's comment below is the only follow up I've ever received from Urbanna spa. This is not your traditional spa experience. If you're used to high end spa experiences, this will feel very low quality. I highly recommend Woodhouse or Spa At Ballantyne if you're looking for that high-quality experience. I had her for the standard massage that Urbana offers, with a request for a firm pressure. This massage felt the way I would expect a deep tissue massage to feel (with no experience of having a deep tissue massage.) She was extremely considerate and kind the entire time. More to that she did this wonderful stretch on my neck that helped soooo much. This lady is absolutely wonderful. After you submit that request, the receptionist will call (same day) and officially schedule your appointment. Cost - $110.00 for a 60 minute massage. I do appreciate how the receptionist asked if I was comfortable with a male masseuse before booking me. Also, love how they are open until 8 PM during the week. The spa is absolutely beautiful and spotless. However, I was a tad disappointed with my massage. Before starting he asked for my areas of concern, but he completely neglected those areas. Also, I feel I was gypped on time. When checking out, the receptionist asked, "are you leaving a 20% tip"? I understand it's her job to ask if the client would like to tip ... but including the percentage ... okay girl. Businesses have become so aggressive with tips ... The ambiance is amazing, when you first get there you're welcomed with your choice of beverage (tea, wine, water) and then you're escorted to your room. You get to choose between lavender or peppermint essential oils to smell while you get massaged. Then you get to sink into relaxation! I've gone for individual massages and couple massages, both were great experiences. I typically get the East West massage, but have had a combination of some massages before. Very nice place on the second floor of the shopping center. Went for a couples massage and enhancement package of chocolate covered strawberries and glass of wine (Datenight Fridays on their website. Yes "Datenight"). Arrived early as instructed to relax in the lounge with our strawberries and beverages. I think they were surprised by us being there on time as it took a while to get the strawberries, some tea and a water. Never was offered the wine, but since neither of us drink we didn't care. Before we could finish eating the berries, the therapists came out and asked if we wanted to get stared a few minutes early, so we did. They would package our leftover berries to send home with us. We both enjoyed the massages a great deal and felt fantastic afterwards. They also worked on us for the full 75 mins we booked. Tried for 90, but they couldn't staff it that day). When we left the receptionist (who was awesome) apologized for the quality of the chocolates and said she wouldn't be charging me for them. I offered to pay anyway because we enjoyed the berries, but she insisted. We weren't given the leftover berries or the box of chocolates to take home, which was fine as we didn't pay for them, lol. All in all, it's a nice place, but follows the monthly membership model Envy made popular, so it's busy and a bit mechanical. We'll probably explore another spa next time. read more

Well...its been a struggle trying to find a good Spa/Massage spot in the Charlotte area. My experience at Urbana wasn't the best. I scheduled a 90 minute hot stone couples massage for my husband's birthday. I added on chocolate covered strawberries to our package and was told wine was complimentary. When we arrived (30 minutes before our appointment), I was asked multiple times if I filled out the paper work online for the both of us. I honestly only received one link via email to answer a few questions and couldn't remember if they were for the both of us. I just didn't know why they wouldn't already just see my info on the computer and hand my husband the necessary paper work if he needed to complete it. Anyway...that was that and it felt very disorganized. We were then asked what we wanted to drink and we sat down. The red wine was basically a few sips, so we probably should have ordered tea or a bottle of water. It felt like taking a shot of red wine lol. We waited in the waiting area for about 40 minutes before someone came to get us for the massage. There was another couple and two other singles who came in after us and went in for their massage before us. I am not sure if the massage itself was a total of 90 minutes anymore. The massage room and beds were very hot, at one point it was getting difficult to breath. Hot stones were only used for half of the duration of the massage. It just wasn't relaxing. As we were leaving and checking out, the lady at the front desk said "let me get your total" and then I saw her hesitate and say "oh you have some chocolate covered strawberries, would you like to take those to go?" What's the point of adding it if you are going to forget about it at the end and ask me to take it home?! I let my husband make the decision and we took them to go. Overall, the service wasn't the best. I really had high hopes that this spot would be different. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. read more

Manager, Michelle, at Urbana Spa was rude, unkind and unsympathetic. I do not recommend spending your money at this establishment. The level of care and service receive by the manager, Michelle, was not appropriate. I called to reschedule my massage for my boyfriend and I. I had an emergency life threatening surgery. She was extremely rude stating something wasn't disclosed on my intake inform so she didnt believe me. I tried to explain the emergency situation and even provide Dr documentation of the surgery. Michelle flat out stated she didn't care bc her ppl needed to get paid regardless. This was very saddened - especially after explaining I just lost a pregnancy. She really showed no empathy. I gave in and state that my boyfriend will keep his appointment and I'll have a friend show in my place. Michelle tells me I am no longer welcomed at the spa, she would not issue a refund nor provide the services. So I have to pay for spa services she's refusing to let us receive. read more

They called me raving about how nice the spa was and how welcoming the staff was. They also enjoyed their services; facials and massages. My most recent visit was for the prenatal massage where Danielle, the massage therapist, was extremely thoughtful and thorough with the areas I've been struggling with. This is another review where I want to give a three and a half star review but since that isn't possible I will round up. My husband and I recently moved here and were looking for places for massages. I had been driving past Urbana Spa going work and the fact that the sign also advertised tea intrigued me. Finally called to book a couples massage and facial and found that we would need to wait about 2 months and not even be able to do it in the same room since they didn't have enough staff. That's a bummer but the world is weird right now so I get it. I really liked my facial. The massage was good too but not exactly what I wanted. At the start I was asked if there was an area of focus. I said that I mostly wanted neck and shoulder. I feel like that ended up getting the least amount of attention. Why bother asking if you aren't going to do it? Normally I would speak up but I wasn't sure if it the woman was going to come back and really work my neck and shoulders at the end. But by the time I realized that wasn't going to happen it was too late. The massage was good, just wished she would have actually focused on my requested area. I also expected that they would tell you about the tea that was included but nobody ever mentioned anything about tea. Before leaving we just went over to the tea bar and asked about it ourselves. I wanted the heated massage because I get massages pretty regularly (other places)and I'm rarely warm enough. Not sure if I would get heated again but I would definitely recommend Lauren. My husband and I come here at least once a year for a nice long couples massage, and Urbana NEVER disappoints! Their therapists are receptive to requests for more/less pressure, they are always very hospitable and courteous, and the teas on hand upon arrival are always delightful! We came in yesterday (2/11/18) for our annual massage, and drifted out on a cloud... I'm not sure I could've slept better last night if I tried! They are not the cheapest place in town, but I think that's a good thing when it comes to spa services... You often get what you pay for. Urbana is definitely worth it! read more

In short, Urbana hosts an ah-mazing tea bar with extremely educated & kind staff. They offer more than 100 loose teas, and whether you're a tea aficionado or tea is new to you, I guarantee you'll find something you fancy. Plus, the folks behind the tea bar really know their stuff and, thus, you're guaranteed a tea-ducation if you like. Or, just hang out here - that's cool too. I learned about Jasmine Pearls and Oolong, white tea and chai. Plus, if you're looking for a nifty tea pot or accessory, they have 'em! Word to the wise - loose leaf tea here starts at $2.50 per ounce, with a 2 oz. minimum. So, it's not super cheap, but you most certainly get what you pay for. I have booked Royal Half Day experience at Urbana Spa and let me tell you-it was AMAZING! With the package you get a 90 min massage, 90 min body wrap and sugar polish, 60 min facial and lunch. The massage therapist-Oleg is GOD! I have a lot of tension in my back, and he was able to work all the knots out, stretch the muscles and even relieve pain in my wrists. You get hot towels all through out the service. Truly nice touch for tired and sore individual that I am. Body wrap and sugar polish made my skin look and feel amazing. Scalp and feet massage, while the wrap is "processing" has put me in a drooling coma))). After the massage and wrap-you get lunch (I was offered to select from a fairly extensive menu. The spa caters it from either Panera or Poke place). After lunch-there was my facial. Very gentle but firm touch from Tiffany. She was so good, I could feel my muscles twitch uncontrollably, while she was doing her "thing". My body, face and soul have been rejuvenated and pampered. No problem booking. No issues while there. I have to hand it to these people, they have the relaxing atmosphere down to a science. They strive to provide a relaxing break from the outside world, and it works. After only a few minutes in here I felt totally calm. The lobby lighting is kept low and dusky. The curtains are drawn both for privacy and to keep the sun from ruining your calm. So even if you go in the afternoon like I did it still seems like sunset. They, of course have the required Hindi music playing to set the mood even further. It is nice to hear something though because all noise from the street and parking lot outside disappears when you walk inside. I don't know how they do it. Anyway, they also know how how whip up a good cup of tea. Pick what ever you want from their extensive menu full of exotic flavors. I have been coming here for years and have always been pleased. My husband as well. I've even recommended Urbana to many people! I was super excited about my 90 minute massage today. I've been having headaches and know exactly the right muscles that have been causing it. I told my masseuse exactly where I'm having issues and to please spend time there and on my hips as they are tight as well. She not only DIDNT work those areas but spent a looooong time on my calves‍never had that before. It was strange, like she had no idea what she was doing. I've been to both of the Urbana locations on Hwy 51 & in Birkdale Village. I had a great massage with a girl walking on my back at the Birkdale location. However the traffic getting up there was fierce. I'm more partial to the Hwy 51 location since its a 5 minute drive from my house. The tea bar is nice, but skip the food. Its expensive and isn't filling. The wine list should be skipped over as well. The best part about the Urbana experience is the masseuses and the magic that they work on your aching body. read more
