The accountants are all very nice and my parents have worked with all of the accountants there. When I came today, I worked with Pasquale, who was so personable and knowledgeable. Normally I do taxes myself, but this was the first time I paid to get them done and I'm not disappointed that I came here. He did them really fast (especially because I had multiple W-2s and a student loan paper), and he informed me why so many people are getting lower tax returns this year (because the nation is taking less taxes out throughout the year and giving you more in your paycheck). He gave me copies of my tax return and told me how much I will get back before I signed anything. He was so nice because he laughed and said, "If you're happy, then I'm happy!" I was very happy with my return. You can pay for the services here by card or check; however, there is a $5 extra fee for using a card. The office itself is very clean and organized, and there is parking on the street. I didn't have to wait at all because literally no one was getting their taxes done here when I came, so that was nice, but the area where they do the taxes and talk to you is upstairs while the waiting room is downstairs, so you feel some kind of privacy here.

I highly recommend Jim and the firm. M&R Ferber offers A-Z tax filing capabilities for individuals, estates, and trusts. Their web site states they provide business and payroll offerings but this review is limited to my personal tax returns. Jim has a great eye for detail and knows tax law. He's not afraid to say "No!" yet he will also recommend approaches that may suit you, ie accelerate deductions, delay revenues, itemize or take the standard deduction, or change with-holdings. He also prepares "what-if" scenarios. I have a complicated return (variable and non-W2 income, out-of-state etc.) yet his fees are fair & reasonable and completion times FAST! He takes the time to understand you, poses thoughtful questions, and explains process and reasoning. The office provides copies of all your returns for your personal record keeping. M&R Ferber provides coffee and cookies. The offices are clean, comfortable, and filled with tax law and accounting books. The shred bin is visible so there is no doubt they properly dispose of un-needed documents. The parking is free and office easy to find. Then suddenly one year, he provided no notice, and simply forgot to protest our property taxes, so of course the taxes went up. Had he told us, we would have hired someone else or done it ourselves. (By the way, its not hard to protest your taxes, if you google it, you can do it yourself online. It just takes time.) Fast forward a year, Greg sends me a letter that he is putting a lien against my house unless I pay him for something that I don't believe I owe him for. If someone puts a lien against your house, you can lose your house. In my opinion, this is an abuse of his position as a lawyer. I am going to file a complaint with the better business bureau and look into other options.

Called the tax defenders after speaking with two highly rated national tax relief companies. I had already done a lot of the work myself with the IRS and my gut was just not comfortable with what they were saying to me. I had also done enough research that I knew they were probably overpromising what they could do. So I looked up local top tax firms and found the The Tax Defenders. After speaking with Beth, who answered the phone, she told me Joe would be calling me back (yes, the owner of the firm). And he did. Beal uses this legal debt collection group to come after tenants for so called fines if you leave furniture behind in your unit. I had an oral agreement with Beal properties that I would be paying $1500 to satisfy my debt and that I would not be renewing my lease because of their insane rent price hikes and price gauging tactics. I'm currently suffering from migraines and nausea due to black mold exposure from apt. 408 at 635 W Barry Avenue in Lakeview. I'm physically ill so I'm posting this review to clear my name and warn others. I made the mistake of taking over a sublease at 635 W. Barry apartment 408 17 months ago. Both my pets and I were exposed to black mold and flooding that took place at the property. I decided against renewing my lease and paid Beal Properties $1500 and had an oral agreement that that would suffice. The previous tenant left his belongings behind and there was no elevator in my building so I was unable to find anyway to lug a mattress etc down a very dangerous fire escape. Beal hired these debt collectors to come after me because I left behind pieces that I could not physically carry since I'd have to climb six flights of stairs. This particular company represents Beal properties and if you do your research for yourself you will see the numerous building code violations that Beal properties commits which include toxic black mold, rats and other vermin not to mention flooding in the laundry room. These people just sent me threats stating I owe them money and they will soon be reporting me to all the credit bureaus so I will soon do what I need to do and countersue since my health has been affected by the longterm affects of black mold exposure. Protect yourself from predators who defend slumlords. Pamela Bailey has been calling me non stop emailing me non stop but what she fails to realize is Beal properties who she is representing is rated very low on yelp and Google and there's even a website for ex Tenants to file complaints. My friend who helped me move suffers from asthma and he was rushed into the ER the next day because he's very sensitive to mold. After the doctors conducted tests on him they found evidence that he was exposed to black mold. Pamela Bailey doesn't mind representing predators like Beal properties.
