Five stars just isn't enough for Angela and Evan. They deserve all of the stars. Photography was a huge priority for my husband and I as we planned our wedding, and we simply cannot imagine our wedding experience without Angela and Evan. They are not only artists and professionals, but the kindest, warmest people you will ever meet. From our very early correspondence, when we emailed back and forth and talked on the phone (we live on the East Coast, but got married in Seattle), Angela was thoughtful and dedicated, asking questions that showed she truly understands how wedding photography works. One of the things that makes her such an amazing photographer is the effort she puts into getting to know you before she even gets to the wedding - she walked through our venue with us, talked with me about the flow of the day, and made sure to stay in close touch with our wedding planner as well. Angela is so generous - when we decided at the last minute that we wanted to get engagement photos taken, she recommended a photographer friend on the East Coast for us. Some photographers might have been put out that we were asking for a recommendation, but not Angela. And on the wedding day itself, we were lucky beyond belief to get to work with both Angela and Evan - Angela shot me and my ladies as we got ready, and Evan was with the guys. Both of them were there for our first look, and throughout the rest of our day and night. While I never noticed them taking photos at the time, they somehow managed to capture all of the big and little moments that made our wedding so special to us - I don't know how they did it. It was so special to see them work together, too, as a married couple! My husband and I had booked a standard package, which ended an hour before the end of our reception - but Angela STAYED, out of the goodness of her heart, to capture our sparkler exit, because as she said, "I thought it would be really special for you guys to have those photos." Come on - that made me tear up, and filled my heart with such gratitude. Our wedding ended at 11pm, and we hung out with our guests at a bar until 1am. As we got in a cab to take us to our hotel, I got a text message from Angela with 20 incredible, beautiful photos from the day. Keep in mind - she had left the wedding at 11pm, too. So, after a full day of work, she went home and sent me a teaser of photos because she knew how excited I was to see them. You can't make this kind of stuff up; it's just too good to be true! And the delivery of the rest of the photos was amazing as well. Only a couple weeks later, we got a preview of about 80 more photos, and then the full album delivery about a month later. The quality of the photos is simply unmatched. And on top of all of that - which is already above and beyond what you could expect from a wedding photographer - Angela sent a beautiful goodie box last month with lovely prints and treats for us to enjoy. Again, I teared up. Working with Angela and Evan is one of the best decisions I've ever made - in life, not just in wedding planning. When my husband and I began thinking about wedding planning just over a year ago, we knew the most important thing to us was finding a photographer that we loved. We agreed that having great photos of our big day was one of our very highest priorities, so the search was on to comb through all the options to find the photographer for us. After a referral from a family friend, we ended up meeting with Angela and booking with her right away without meeting with anyone else. This ended up being one of the best decisions we made throughout our whole wedding planning process. Angela is an absolutely incredible photographer and an even better human being. Our package included engagement photos in addition to the photos on our wedding day. My husband was pretty apprehensive about having his photo taken and was worried that he wouldn't feel comfortable in front of the camera. Angela is such a pro, she easily made him feel comfortable during the engagement shoot and brought out the best in both of us. From the beginning of working together, she felt like a friend and someone we could be ourselves around, which is so important when documenting your big day. When it came closer to the wedding, Angela went above and beyond to make sure we had the things we needed. Five days before the wedding, I realized to my horror that I hadn't ordered ANY sparklers for our sparkler exit....and it was no longer Summer so it was nearly impossible to find a vendor willing to sell me fireworks. I felt so stupid and, honestly, a little panicked that one of the elements of our day that I had spent so much time thinking about wasn't going to happen. After filling her in on our dilemma, Angela began searching for us and found a bride selling sparklers near me that I could meet and ALSO met a seller herself in Tacoma and brought those sparklers with her to the wedding. Seriously, guys, she's the real deal. When it came time for our wedding she absolutely knocked it out of the park. She was a calming presence throughout the pre-ceremony period, providing gentle and much needed direction so that we stayed on schedule and had time for all the photos we were hoping to get before the ceremony. During the ceremony and reception, she blended in seamlessly, capturing every important moment. We were faced with a large amount of rain during our outdoor ceremony and outdoor reception, but Angela took it in stride and captured absolutely beautiful photos every step of the way. I imagine it isn't easy to shoot under those conditions and with that amount of rain, but she made it look easy. Although the rain was less than ideal, we all chose to embrace the elements and see it as a romantic addition to the day. Angela did the same, and captured the spirit of that perfectly in her photos. After recently reviewing all of our photos from our wedding, we truly couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. As mentioned above, she captured the spirit of the day better than I ever could have imagined and, in the process, made all our friends and family look SO good. Looking through all our photos is like reliving the day, and she documented every candid moment with a level of artistry that exceeded all our expectations. A wedding photographer is a tough one. You look and look at images, they all start blurring together and you wonder if you'll make the right choice. After hours and hours of searching, my fiance and I agreed that Angela and Evan had beautiful images on their website. So off to starbucks I went to meet up with Angela. It only took a brief meeting for me to decide that I really liked her and wanted them to be our wedding photographers. I couldn't be happier with that decision. Not only are they the sweetest couple, but their pictures are just gorgeous. Everyone that has seen comments on how pretty they are. I think it's important that when couples select their vendors for their wedding, they remember that they'll be around these people their whole wedding day! My husband and I ended up looking at close to thirty photographers and met with three in person before choosing Angela to photograph our wedding day. Working with Angela means getting more than just beautiful photos. She took the time to walk through our venue with us, helped us picked a spot for our ceremony, and was a wonderful source of advice. At our first meeting, she sketched out a timeline of how she thought our wedding day might go based on what we were telling her and the timeline we ended up using was pretty close to that. angela and evan..... BEST EVER EVER! i found them because i love sarah seven's wedding dresses. (sarah seven is a designer in portland). I loved the photos so much, that i looked up the photographer and found out that angela and evan, who captured some of my favorite shots on sarah seven's website also did weddings. i was shopping for a wedding photographer and not only did i find that they provided FANTASTIC options for me to choose from. because i was initially overseas, i had to do a lot of my initial correspondence via email. Angela was extremely helpful and personable and just a delight from the start. They even offered to shoot all our korean wedding for free for us if we could cover their flight costs. Unfortunately, the hubs and i weren't able to do this, but it shoes just how willing these two are willing to go for you! As mentioned in a previous review of mine, I've been a very long-time lurker on Yelp, but finally decided to engage in contributing to the community of online reviewers as it has come so handy for me in so many ways. In this case, looking for various wedding vendors for our big day was greatly helped by the combination of Yelp, wedding forums, & some good ol' research. Not withstanding, Angela & Evan Photography first came into our scope through Yelp, then their website & pretty much, the rest is history :) Many people have already commented on Angela & Evan's personality, but to add to it, there really isn't enough wonderful things to say about the couple, whether it be their demeanor & personalities to their respective work. My husband & I definitely have not-so-secret crushes on them, so prepare. Coming from a perspective of planning a wedding from long distance, Angela & Evan were so fluid in their communication & very laid back, whilst being very organized. We never felt stressed about the day-of & we were able to meet with Angela every time we were back in Seattle for wedding planning for a weekend trip. Even if we were unable to meet, however, we always heard from them through email or text or even Facebook very quickly (I adore how invested in our lives they can be) & it felt as if we were old friends. Regarding the wedding, photography was one of our highest priorities when it came down to our wedding day (we are also designers so it was kind of a big deal) & though everyone has his/her own style they'd like to achieve on their special day, my husband & I were drawn to Angela & Evan's natural style that really was about the people & not only about capturing a great photo (though, there were definitely some fabulous ones of those, too). Hiring Angela and Evan for our wedding was the first and best decision we made throughout the whole wedding planning process. I accidentally came across their website when we began browsing vendors and was completely in love with their work. After looking at all the local photographers we kept coming back to Angela and Evan's website. I initially met Angela and Evan at a friend of mine's wedding back in 2014. When she showed me the proofs that Angela had sent over, I was blown away and completely in LOVE! Her usage of light and being able to capture the sweet, simple moments that transform into such a stunning photo were incredible to see. Fast forward 2 years... After realizing I had "misplaced" my husband and I's wedding photos (from another photographer years ago), and with our fifth year wedding anniversary rounding the corner, we started brainstorming creative ways to celebrate such a monumental year and thought having new photos taken would be something fun and different! I reached out to Angela and not only was she so quick to respond but she had remembered my husband and I from my friend's wedding was excited to work with us! It's ironic that I found Angela & Evan on yelp, even though I had a ton of recommendations from other people...and that is why I'm back to write them another review, because I feel so lucky that I stumbled upon them and their crazy-good photography skills!!! In the beginning of my search for a photographer almost a year ago, I saw a ton of very posed, cheesy wedding photos all over the place that made my skin crawl...But when I happened to discover Angela & Evan's website via yelp, I got really excited by what I saw...The photos were filled with emotion and put me right in the moment with the subject. They use lighting and different techniques to make simple portraits or landscapes look much more compelling than you would think possible. I just received my wedding photos last week, and once again, I'm so impressed with their work. I adored my engagement photos from them, but the wedding photos blow those out of the water. It's not just that they have the natural talent to take candid photos that capture the moment, but it's also that they are so easy to get along with, which comes through in their work...They do not make you feel like you are "posing"... they may ask you to position yourself slightly differently, but that's it - the whole time I felt like I was just being myself. They made us feel completely at ease while taking the pictures, and that is why they come out so personal and SO special. If we had to plan our wedding again, we would still choose Angela and Evan in a heartbeat! We spent a lot of time looking for the right photographer because, after all, your wedding photos will be the one thing that lasts. Before meeting Angela and Evan, our priorities were having beautiful photos and staying within our budget, quite frankly. However, we received so much - they gave us breathtaking photos, made us feel comfortable during photoshoots, and allowed us to enjoy our wedding. After meeting Angela and Evan, our priorities and expectations of wedding photographers have changed, and we are so thankful for having them be a part of our wedding. First and foremost, as you would want with any wedding photographer, you want them to provide you with beautiful photos of your wedding day. What distinguishes Angela and Evan from others is that they provide you with a whole album of beautiful moments and not just a handful of them. When my husband and I looked through the works of many photographers in the area, we noticed that their portfolios all looked great. However, what we realized was that those photos that they showcased publicly did not represent the quality that you would find in your entire wedding album. Our wedding album is comprised of so many touching moments and just stunning photos. Second, they make you feel so comfortable and natural when taking photos. Taking professional photos can sometimes get awkward if you're not comfortable with the camera. My husband feels this way about cameras, but during the engagement photoshoot and on the day of the wedding, everything was so natural. Our best guess is that you have to click with your photographer, and we felt like we did. Angela and Evan have a very calming presence so you don't feel nervous, and sometimes you don't even notice they're taking photos of you Third, our wedding day, probably like all wedding days, was so busy and chaotic. Of course, we wanted our wedding photographer to capture every moment, but we also wanted to enjoy our wedding. Angela and Evan were so mindful of this and made sure we had private moments together so we can enjoy each other's company. We really appreciated this balance. On your wedding day, they will be there to not only take your photos, but to also help make your day even more memorable. When you receive all this from a wedding photographer and more, it's just worth every penny and there are no regrets. They will capture your wedding perfectly, but, most importantly, they will also capture the emotions of your friends, family, and the love between you and your better half so beautifully. I received a referral from a friend about Angela and Evan, after researching a ton of different photographers I placed them at the top of our list. Both our wedding and engagement photos meant a lot to us, so I like to think we're particularly picky. After meeting with Angela we arranged to have her and Evan come to do our engagement photos in the San Juan Islands. They we're more than accomodating and we fell in love with how they work together, they're joy for being expressive and creative and the way they made us feel as a couple. Yes, yes, and yes: my husband and I absolutely recommend Angela & Evan! We hired them for our wedding, but we liked them so much that we plan on going back to them whenever we need some great pictures of events in our life. I spent hours and hours scouring Yelp for wedding photographers, then reviewing the websites of the promising ones. I finally had it narrowed down to three options and set up interviews with the photographers. Angela & Evan were our top choice because their shots are artistic and modern (not your standard, stuffy, conservative wedding photography). Plus, as a design couple ourselves, we were attracted to the fact that they work together as a husband-and-wife pair. Nonetheless, we knew we needed to meet them to be sure if they were the right choice. (If you don't like the personality of your photographer, do you really want to have them hanging around you on your wedding day?) Turns out, we were sold on the spot, and we didn't even bother to meet with anyone else. We tend to be the type of people who are a little camera shy because we are really self-critical, thinking we will accidentally pose in an unflattering way, even if it is all in our heads. Fortunately, as soon as we started the engagement shoot with Angela & Evan, our fears melted away. We were able to just be ourselves, and they captured moments where we looked natural, and nothing was too posed or forced. We actually did the "engagement" shoot just a few days before the wedding (it was included in the package, but we lived out of town at the time), and having the practice for the wedding really took a load off. It's nice to go into the wedding already knowing the photographers, knowing that they will put you at ease, and knowing that you'll love the shots. Plus, it gives you a chance to kick any posing habits that you might find to be unphotogenic. I can't highlight enough how great it is to have two photographers at the wedding, which, unlike other photographers, is part of the package with Angela & Evan. Before the ceremony, Evan spent time with my husband as he got ready, and Angela with me. Then, during the ceremony and reception, they moved about separately, so that not only did they capture everything, but also they caught important moments from different angles. And they did so without ever once seeming intrusive. We haven't had time to pick out the shots for our album yet, but the sample album we saw was beautifully done: nicely bound, pages nearly as thick as your standard museum board, artistically laid out. Hiring Angela & Evan for our wedding (and engagment) photography was one of the best decisions we made in our planning process! We had the pleasure of working with them for an engagement shoot in the fall, and then they did our photography AND videography for the wedding itself. Angela and Evan are both extermely personable and easy to work with, which was such an amazing addition to our big day. Not only were they kind and understanding-- they also are a lot of fun! While planning my wedding I knew I had a million choices to make, but who to use as my photographers was the easiest. They are both so enjoyable to be around and that was something that was really important to me, I mean I would be spending more of my wedding day with my photographers then my husband. We have worked with Casey with Angela and Even photography and he is amazing. He has done a couple of family shoots for us and we are always surprised at how many wonderful shots he is able to get. Where do we even start? We booked Angela for our recent wedding at DeLille Cellars and cannot say enough good things. We both felt comfortable with Angela from the very first meeting we had with her and were so impressed by her portfolio that it was a no brainer (and we met with A LOT of photographers). We were both pretty nervous about the idea of being photographed, but Angela made the whole process so easy and comfortable. We worked with Angela for both an engagement shoot and day-of photography and couldn't have been happier with both. Angela is such a warm, caring and funny person that it ended up just feeling like we were hanging out with a close friend, who happened to have a camera. She was so patient and kind with us and our wedding guests, but made sure to keep everything on-time and to make sure to get all the pictures we had included on our shot list. Highly, highly recommend!! Angela has a very low key, calming personality for people who are uncomfortable behind a camera, but simultaneously directs and helps to pose you. She took a lot of time to figure out what shots I wanted and had a great eye for editing and putting together an album for me, too! Choosing the photographers that were going to document our wedding was one of our biggest early challenges during the wedding planning process. As an artist myself, I was extremely particular about what I was looking for, and I spent hours trawling the internet, exploring what felt like a million different photographers' websites. As soon as I came across Angela & Evan, I had a good feeling about them--their work seemed lovely and they appeared to be a sweet, down-to-earth couple. Well, both of these things turned out to be true! We could not be happier with our decision to hire A&E. We had not originally planned on doing engagement photos, but an e-shoot came with the photography package we purchased, and we are so glad that we did end up doing one after all--the e-shoot we did in the Autumn was a great practice run for being in front of the camera and interacting with our photographers, so we felt comfortable with them shooting our wedding the following Spring (not to mention the fact that we loved sending out the photos with our invitations!). A&E were a wonderfully calm and centered presence on our wedding day--smoothly orchestrating group photos, going with the flow when plans changed, and tactfully reminding us of photo opps we had hoped to get. In the craziness of the moment, their quiet professionalism was so appreciated! I was also amazed at how unobtrusive their shooting was during the reception--I hardly noticed them at all, and yet we got tons of wonderful candid photos of our guests enjoying themselves throughout. A&E's style is timeless and classic, without any of the tacky post-processing effects or cheesy posing that seem to be everywhere these days and that would have dated our photos as time goes by. Husband and wife's shots fit together seamlessly, and I loved that we were able to get photos of my husband getting ready with Evan at the same time that Angela was documenting my own experience. The photos they took of our wedding truly tell the story of the day, and I know that we will cherish them forever. Picking out a wedding photographer that you can trust is like finding a good hairstylist. Not only are technical skills required, but an impeccable aesthetic and artistic vision can mean the difference between a competent job and a uniquely beautiful job. Wedding pictures are forever though (hopefully), you can't grow them out and try a different photographer. That's why my husband and I agonized over the decision of who to hire to do our "forever" photos. Angela and Evan had been recommended to us by a co-worker of my husband. We had a couple of other names of really good people but after going through the interview process with several photographers we kept going back to them. They were great listeners, seemed very organized, and had great suggestions to help us document the most important day of our lives. We were on a very tight budget (claustrophobic really!), but we knew we couldn't skimp on the quality of the photographer we hired, so we went with Angela and Evan. We are so glad we did! I had the pleasure of working with Angela to shoot my winter line of woven wraps. Not only did she contribute by brining in amazing talent, including her own adorable little boys- I felt that she completely understood my vision and delivered above and beyond. She was able to capture beautiful product as well as lifestyle images all in a half-day shoot (which involved babies/kids).
