I visited Royal Organic Salon in June for what I specifically booked as a color correction. Before…read morescheduling, I explained over the phone that my hair had been professionally dyed black (not box dye) and that I wanted to return to my natural level 7 color. During that phone call, I was given the impression that this was something they could do.
However, I wasn't told until I had already arrived, was sitting in the chair, and had product applied to my hair that they would not be able to achieve my desired result. I wish I had been informed before the service began so I could have made an informed decision.
Instead of a color correction, my roots ended up a completely different color from the rest of my hair, and the overall lift was minimal. My hair was left with multiple different shades--some areas were light brown, others dark brown, and some were still black. It looked almost the same as when I walked in, despite paying well over $300. I was originally quoted around $250 over the phone, so the final price was also much higher than I expected.
Because I was unhappy with the results, I went to another stylist for a second opinion. They were able to achieve my desired color in a single appointment for nearly the same price. They also told me that, based on what they saw, it appeared my hair had mainly been treated with a color remover rather than receiving what they would consider a true color correction. I wish this had been explained to me beforehand so I could have made a more informed decision about moving forward.
About a week later, I contacted the salon to see if I could receive a partial refund. Unfortunately, that experience was even more disappointing. The manager was very rude, accused me of lying, demanded photo evidence, and referenced reviewing their security camera footage, saying I looked happy during my appointment. Like many people, I wasn't comfortable telling my stylist I disliked my hair while still sitting in the chair, especially knowing I was about to pay for the service. I also didn't fully realize how uneven the color was until I saw my hair in natural sunlight.
I've included photos below to show the results. I wasn't looking for a full refund--I simply wanted the salon to acknowledge my concerns and work toward a fair resolution. Instead, I was met with a defensive response.
Everyone's experience is different, but based on my experience, I won't be returning. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision before booking a color correction here.
