Angelas Pizza in Keyport, NJ has decent pizza. Their dinner food has alot to be desired. It's ok but not the best. The little salad that comes w/the entrees isn't good. The peppers in the salad are sour. I asked for extra cucumber in the salad instead of the peppers & one of the guys accommodated me w/no extra charge. All the guys that take the orders & give you the food are accommodating & friendly. The big woman who has blonde hair isn't nice. When she gave us the salad once, she handed us the salad & I had to ask for salad dressing. She should have asked me what salad dressing I would like. I went with 2 plain and 1 chicken. The plain slices were good. Your average tasting. Nothing to complain about. The chicken one I had, it wasn't my favorite. I probably wouldn't recommend that one. Now they have been raising their prices like every one else but now decided to make the pizza smaller. Pepperoni Pizza: I got one slice of the pepperoni pizza and it was extremely oily. The oil kept dripping from the pizza itself but the pizza had enough flavor and cheese. Sausage Pizza: I got one slice of the sausage pizza and it was not oily at all. The sausage tasted like any sausage on a pizza. The crust was a little hard for me to eat. If I wasn't with someone that knew that the backroom tables existed I would have thought that Angela's is only a pizzeria. If entering from the front door there is a long corridor to get to the backroom restaurant. The menu is very sufficient and the food servings are overly ample. I had the stuffed shells, my wife had eggplant Parm, both were very good. As an appetizer we had the fried calamari which I found to be a little rubbery. Be aware that they probably deep fry in the same oil as the shellfish. My daughter is allergic to shellfish and could tell that the calamari was causing a reaction. The service was quick and the staff pleasant. Even though a private party was being hosted nearby, the dining experience was nice and conversation was easy. Very nice overall. read more

Their chicken Caesar salad is one of my favorites- with the perfect amount of dressing and croutons. Their pizza has so much flavor and has the perfect amount of crispiness. Ok pizza but nothing all that special. The crust is thicker than I like and the Buffalo Chicken pie (which is what I ordered) really did not have much of a bite to it. I stopped into Angela's on the way to Atlantic Highlands and I was fairly impressed. First off, the exterior window was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The inside is on the small side, but there are still a few tables for seating. The atmosphere is casual and friendly and the staff was quick to help. The chicken bacon ranch was deceivingly good. The slice looked like a pile of ingredients with some dressing, but the flavors melded together nicely with good quality chicken and a good ratio with the dressing. The plain slice was generic with a bit too much seasoning, but the crust and base were both pleasantly crispy. I also tried a Sicilian-styled margherita which was extremely delicious. When I go to a pizza place for the first time, to really see if they know what's up, I order a plain slice. This place it it. Plain slice. Don't sleep on it. Perfect. Thin crust, crispy bottom, right amount of sauce and cheese, fold factor 10. Sauce is not sweet or too salty. If you like it saltier you know what to do knock some parm or salt on top but that's on you. I'm so happy to find this place, this is the pizza I have been craving. The perfect classic NJ / NY slice. As I write this I wish I got another slice. I'll be back ordering a plain pie, and a slice for the road! I also ordered the pasta fagioli soup. Piping hot, served with a large hunk of fresh hot bread. It was still steaming when I got to the bottom. Soup tastes fresh and home made. It can take a bit more garlic in my opinion, so maybe I'll get garlic knots and slap them in next time. This is a comfort soup. Are you cold? Sick? Craving a warm belly that won't weigh you down? This is it. Beans, vegetables, pasta, and a mild tomato broth. My wife specifically asked for the lunch specials and the person taking the order acknowledged it. My mom used to bring me home pizza from here and it's always excellent. Then my immediate family went to eat there and the food and the people were excellent. It's sad that the dining room isn't very busy because the food and the owners are amazing I've eaten their lasagne, octopus salad, caprese salad, meatballs, and I am about to place an order to try their Sicilian. I have never seen the owners be rude or sad or anything other than upbeat and welcoming. They treated us like we were family and I have Facebook pictures to prove it. I've also tried their gnocchi, which is also delicious. If you're looking for a good pie, get an Angela's Special, regular or Sicilian (smashed and burned if you want, but I wouldn't recommend smashed and burned Sicilian pies). The owner needs a major attitude adjustment. He doesn't know how to properly take an order in his system and had my food delivered incorrectly. When I called the restaurant to let them know they messed up two items in my $75 order, the woman answering the phone insisted that I was wrong and that I had to reorder and pay for a new items. Then, the OWNER grabbed the phone and insisted that he took the order correctly and that I was lying and I was the one who was wrong. He eventually agreed to send me new items for no additional charge but he was so disrespectful, rude, and degrading about the entire situation. I am disgusted by the establishment. I have a get together at my house with 6 families from Hazlet who all witnessed this. We will NEVER order or recommend this establishment to any of our family or friends. I have been a long time customer, I order here at least 2-3x a month. The owner took my order over the phone. When the food arrived I had an extra soup and my pizza was missing. The delivery driver gave it to another customer. They made a brand new pizza and it was delivered. However it was not the pizza I ordered. I do not eat onions and have never ordered onions ever at this place. My pizza was covered in onions and burnt. The order was put in incorrect. When we called to say our pizza was wrong the opener accused me of trying to get a free pizza and was screaming at my husband on the phone. I literally order there all the time and can afford a pizza. I just don't want to pay for his mistake of typing in my order wrong. When we mentioned the extra soup, he got nasty with my husband. All I wanted was a refund for the pizza we can't eat due to the onions. I would have kept the soup. He then hung up on my husband. He made a mistake and took zero accountability for it. So please go look at my account and see how much money I have spent there. That is how much you are now going to lose out on over a wrong pizza you couldn't admit to messing up. You lost a loyal customer. Also to make it worse my husband used to work there years ago so they know he's not some random person trying to get free food but he still felt the need to accuse us of it. This review is based on takeout only. I am not a fan of their pizza at all. I think it is quite generic, actually. That said, their sandwiches and meals are pretty good, though the overall word I would use to describe this place would be "average". Their calzones are expensive, but massive in size. They also have a chicken parm sandwich on a garlic roll which is probably the best they offer. Word of advice: do not get anything with bacon here. I have had it twice, on a sub and also a slice of pizza. It has such a weird taste, almost like freezer burn. I usually order the chicken parm dinner and have found that it is almost always delicious. Yesterday made the mistake of ordering a chicken Caesar salad. I have checked three different recipes for this and in none of them does it say to heat the lettuce. Heating the lettuce leaves you with wilted greens, not crispy romaine lettuce. Unfortunately Angela's apparently threw lettuce, dressing and chicken into the oven. Also ordered a meatball parm sub, bread was cold, not sure how they managed that. read more
